Well are we staying up?
If we'd beaten Luton I'd have said yes.
As it is with games against West Brom and Millwall to come I am very apprehensive.
Not helped by the fact that we can't score a goal.
It's a no from me I'm afraid.
Third division football here we come.

I can't see us getting another point now, so it's down to whether the sides below us can close the gap.
My gut feeling is that they will, and next season we'll be going to Accrington, Accrington away....

Yes. Looking at the other's fixtures i think weve already got enough points. But I think we'll win at Millwall if their chance of top 6 has gone by then, which it could very well have done.
And I think we can get a point on friday night too as WBA will be really feeling the pressure. Theyve been top 2 for so long now but they know just one slip up and its probably 3rd place for them.

And I think we can get a point on friday night too as WBA will be really feeling the pressure. Theyve been top 2 for so long now but they know just one slip up and its probably 3rd place for them. That's a bold statement mate. The games at Hull and Charlton on Saturday are guaranteed to produce between 4 and 6 points for the teams involved. The table will look significantly different when they're added, especially if we lose tomorrow.
Another thing that can be guaranteed is that there will be unexpected result(s) somewhere in the piece. Of course that could include Town but our form since the re-start makes it seem unlikely.
I think we're one point short of the table looking reasonably comfortable which is why that Luton 'performance' was so baffling.
Then there's the Wednesday issue which just drags on and on. Yeah, we shouldn't have to rely on that, but I fear we may well have to do. If they do get 12 points, I'd feel a lot more positive. If they've broken the rules to the extent that £60m suggests they have, then they absolutely should get a massive penalty.
So, it's a don't know for me.

I don't see why people suddenly think hull Charlton and Luton will get 4 points from in 2 games and we will get nowt
Glass half empty or what
I think we are already safe

Bold prediction maybe, but I dont think Barnsley, Hull or Charlton will get another point between them.
Think we'll win at Millwall anyway.

Last nights result was pivotal. It remains very much in our own hands. So yes, we’ll stay up!

Of the other 2, the fact that they're playing each other makes 4 points easier to achieve (for 1 of them).

I wouldn't know, as ever with (much) of my time supporting Town never was the old adage "hope for the best, expect the worst" more apt.

It all feels a bit 99/00 as we limp towards the end of the season hoping the draws we're picking up will probably be enough.
Our last 2 fixtures are against top teams fighting for something which realistically, if you were betting objectively, you'd fully expect us to lose both and obtain zero points.
That leaves us hoping the teams below us dont get much but some of them will be competing in dead rubbers I believe meaning they are highly likely to pick up points.
I just hope we can somehow get something on Friday.

You've predicted the results of 8 games in that post. You need to get an accumulator on. Save your money though, it ain't happening.

Much more confident now that there are only two games left. We'll get the point that we need, although we might not even need it as I can't see all of the four clubs below us getting the necessary points to overhaul us.

I'd like Barnsley to get a point tonight. Not as an anti-Leeds thing but I'd feel much better if I know Leeds will need a result on the last day for the title. Bear in mind that Barnsley would go from 5 behind us to 4, so although it would be a great point for them in terms of catching Charlton, they would still need two exceptional results to catch us (probably 2 wins). If Luton win against Hull (I think they will) we're going to be potentially relying on Leeds and Blackburn (who we stitched up 3 years ago) on the last day. If Leeds are already Champions in that scenario we're toast. As for Town I think we're already in the clubhouse with 48. If we get to 49 I can't see us going down.

If we lose both games we are in trouble. Wigan will get 3 points by beating Charlton, Luton could easily get 4 points from a terrible Hull team and a Blackburn team thinking of their holidays and Charlton could get a point at Leeds if they are promoted this weekend.
In our own hands though so if we do go down we will completely deserve it.

Assuming we lose our last 2 games (but our goal difference doesn't take too much of a battering) I think I'm correct in saying ONE of the following needs to happen for us to be potentially relegated.
1. Barnsley must get a win and 2 draws (from their last 3 games). 2. Luton must get a win and a draw. 3. Hull must get a win and a draw.
It's very unlikely all three will happen, possible but unlikely two will occur but it wouldn't surprise me if Luton pick up 4 points.
Even if that happens (or one of the other scenarios does) then Charlton must get at least a point too... that could be our safety net.
Because of goal difference an extra point means one of the bottom three sides will need to win two of their remaining games so if we can scrape a draw in either of our games it will be massive.
So in summary basically I don't know if we are staying up.

If Cardiff beat boro and qpr get a draw with millwall I think we can get something at the den because millwall have nothing to play for. If Leeds win tonight the pressure is really on West Brom with Brentford breathing down their necks. Problem is we aren’t set up to attack teams so all West Brom have to do is turn up score first and we’ll . I’m so pissed off with how this season has played out, but I’m holding my tongue till we either stay up or go down. Either way my outburst after the end of this season will be the same.

It’s all gearing up for Charlton to get a point against Leeds and send us down on goal difference.

I don't like the fact it's in our own hands, we're not up to the job. I wish we could rely on others doing the job for us, pathetic I know, but also totally pragmatic. Happy to be called out if we put in 2 worldy performances and pick up 4 points!

My meaningless prediction.
We won't get any more points but neither will Hull, Charlton or Barnsley, so we'll be safe

Does anyone know when the Wigan appeal decision will be announced. I guess after the last game so we could end the season not knowing who is relegated and who isn't!

Just looked at the other team's fixtures.
I can see points totals ending like this:
Wigan 49 Charlton 49 Luton 49 Hull 46 Barnsley 44
This means we need a point from somewhere to finish above Luton on goal difference. It's very dicey.
Barnsley on 44

Barnsley on 44 You think Charlton are going to draw against Wigan and Leeds? Can't see them getting another point now - I reckon last night's 94th minute equaliser by ex club legend Lukas Jutkiewicz has kept us up and sent Charlton down. I don't think we need any more points now. It's a funny old game though

When they play Leeds, I think Leeds will be already up and resting. Not if there is a title to play for. I don’t think there is any player who would take it easy if you are in with a shout of winning the league. It’s part of being a competitive footballer. They’ll go all out to finish champions.
