I know it’s been mentioned on other threads but it’s worth showing to get fans excited about our future. I know from a good source that Town believe this lad can be even better than O’Brien

It will be interesting to see if this new academy model works
I think high, daly, Jackson and austerfield all came through the old set up and all look to have a decent chance of making it
The old model also brought through smithies, hunt, crooks, Holmes, windass, Williams and of course o’brien who will all be playing regularly at championship level this season

Great goal
I think a loan at a very competitive level made perfect sense (I see him behind REG/Daly/Schofield but ahead of others) - it is but at that time I was assuming we’d have made more signings
Another local player from the old academy system who joined us at 9 and captained the side at junior levels - a true ‘young terrier’
A shame imo we won’t see many local players like him in the future so enjoy the few that are left

When he came on at Rochdale last season, in the friendly, he looked like we'd cloned Hoggy but added ball control and passing ability into the mix

Despite which the list of players above, proves that our old Academy set up, did spot & develop many good young players! Couldn't understand selling Williams to Barnsley, it didn't make sense to me! - UTT.

I'd rather we played the kids than Bacuna...for every one moment of supreme skill there must be a hundred bits of can't be arsed ness.
Oggy summed him up in commentary...languid. He truly looks like it's too much to ask to get above a fast walk.
Get the kids in, and get a goalscorer from any level. Someone who bags for fun.

When was the last time he ran in a game? I remember his first pl sub appearance. He came on, roughed up a few. Was down in the corners firing the crowd up with pumped fists . Compare to now. A kid who thinks he is too good to be playing at a level at which he is patently struggling. Yes I know he hit a 30 yarder in January. That's because he is a talented kid. Unfortunately the game is full of ex talented kids with regrets. He obviously can't wait to get away. The sooner we are rid of these types the better. This ship is going to take some time to turn round but it can never do that until you have 11 players willing to sweat blood for the shirt

Apart from O’Brien, all the midfielders need clearing out for different reasons. Some of it will be sad, but there’s too much damage being done to all parties and for the sake of the club the sooner the better.

But I don’t see how this happen in the future - We won’t have local lads join at under 9 or 14 will they as we don’t have an under 9 or under 14 team anymore They’ll only join if not snapped up by another team by under 16 or have been released by others?

"Obviously can't wait to get away", can you blame him. Who'd want to stick around this shit show where we've all been sold down the river by the former owner.

Some are leaving some are coming in. Due to the pandemic there is obviously confusion in the market.. Not a lot of business being done. But I'm sure we will bring in as many as the rest. Financially we are not where the fans want us to be. But comparatively we will be OK. Re Bacuna. I have no axe to grind with him wanting out. But not giving 100% on the field that's unforgiveable I'm sure you'd agree? Whoever it is

Great goal from a really promising player, a season away from our club right now would be the best thing for all the young lads who have been brilliant in the last couple of weeks but I think High will really flourish & come back a really good young prospect.

I'd certainly like to see a lot of them given a spell on loan in Lg1 or Lg2 & have them come in to give us some options next season. Might help them to develop better elsewhere too. I'm looking forward to seeing Scott High gets on. Looks like our best prospect for some time.

There's a local lad and Town supporter who captained last season's U17's. Proper talent...... Another one recently signed his first Pro Contract after joining the club from Shelley at U14's They're still coming through and will continue to do so in the future Great to see. But I don’t see how this happen in the future - We won’t have local lads join at under 9 or 14 will they as we don’t have an under 9 or under 14 team anymore They’ll only join if not snapped up by another team by under 16 or have been released by others? I am a little confused as to some of the arguments in favour of the ‘old’ academy? The suggestion seems to be that the ‘old’ academy system only recruited ‘local’ lads. Probably a lot more ‘local’ you might say than of late but it was never really ‘Huddersfield local’ many lads were from Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Barnsley and Sheffield! Daley is from Stockport, O’Brien Manchester area. The other thing I’ve seen on here is the ‘developing our own/hear since the age of 9 point. Very few players whichever club you look at are developed from the immediate local area, from age 9 and go on to make their 1st team debuts. It rarely happens! You have mentioned that we may need to rely on players released by other clubs. That has always been the case whether it be Daley (Everton)in the old system or Harratt(Barnsley) in the new system! The argument for moving to the ‘new’ system was to concentrate funds on the players at the age that matters ie 16 plus rather than 9 to 14 where really funds are concentrated on 90 odd percent of players who are unfortunately never going to even get a scholarship. I get that it is great to see a ‘Huddersfield’ lad make it into the 1st team and even better that he has done that having been at the club from 9 years old- the reality is that that would rarely have happened!

It strikes me as strange that virtually every thread, whatever the original subject, ends up as a whinge against the club//chairman/no signings *delete as appropriate. There is a perfectly adequate moaning thread. Why not use that and stop polluting threads like this, which was to highlight a spectacular goal by a great prospect. It is becoming impossible to escape the negativity that pervades this board

One of the technically best i have ever seen at Town....without application he will fail the exam. What a shame.

Recalled from Shrewsbury after a successful loan spell according to the majority of their fans in league 1.
Brought back to be in the fold here ?

Their fans all thought he was decent. Some saying he was probably good enough to be playing for any side in that league.
Just a bit unlucky to be at a club that was struggling so much. Probably go back out on loan again to somewhere that's a bit more stable

Would rather he gets minutes than Pritchard but probably better if he goes somewhere he can get consistent game time.
Seems like he played quite a bit early in the season and he’s gradually dropped away from the first 11 there.

With our lack of options in midfield, I'd be tempted to keep him in and around the squad for the rest of this season.
