If that's what town are holding out for I totally agree with them We should stick to our guns Wonder what Karlan thinks about West Brom's lack of commitment? If he wants the move then he will agree to a 1 Yr contract extension to force it through.

What if he breaks his leg first game and never fully recovers? The risk is on us when they’re the ones getting £100m + this year. I’d tell them to fuck right off.

If they want it as an option to buy, then the loan fee is £10m with an extra £10m as the option to buy. For a guaranteed purchase £5m loan and £13m extra will do.
PS: I'd also be contacting West Ham, Crystal Palace and maybe one or two others, giving them all until the end of this weekend coming to complete or Grant stays until January at least.

If grant goes it’s got to be an obligation to buy at the end of the season otherwise we could be back to square one with an unhappy player we’re trying to shift on! Only plus side of them not having to purchase him is he goes on loan does well and West Brom stay up and his price goes up but that’s a big if.

That’s all depends if there’s an obligation to buy or not if he has a good season and it’s not agreed that he’ll go his price would go up as he wouldn’t be tied down to sign for West Brom

I like the sound of 5m loan fee with an obligation to buy if they stay up to be honest. If he plays well for them and they stay up, we get the 18m or so fee reported. If he plays well and they go down there's the opportunity to get a bigger fee for him from someone else. If he has a bad season, Town either get an inflated fee or get him back with his tail between his legs a bit. It's tempting to cash in but this way is very flexible.

If WBA get relegated we can keep the £5m and market him at £18m again, hopefully he scores plenty of goals for them we might get £25m..

Theres a 0% chance West Brom stay up the same with Fulham, just hope the club take that into account on any dealings.

I guess that if they are asking for a loan it has a number of barriers in it's way. - The length of his contract, will he sign a years extension, if the deal goes through. - I assume Town will want a guaranteed transfer as they apparently want to buy him anyway it is just the way that payments are made that are holding things up (we hear). - If WBA do get relegated, then that is just tough on them, like it was on us. They get the player they want and some way to move the payments around to meet their financial straight jacket.
I just can't see anyone letting him go on loan with a clause that lets them out of the deal if they come straight back down. Especially without a contract extension, but this is Town!

We were hoping Kongolo would do well for Fulham last season so we could maximise his sell-on price but he got injured in his second game. Same with Diakhaby at Forest but he reduced his value further, if that's possible, with some shocking displays for them. It can work both ways but the safest bet his to loan him with a compulsory buy at the end of the loan.

Steven chicken has done a piece stating that’s club says the loan rumour is not true.seems we are still waiting for West Brom to our forward a payment structure they suits us.as domestic window open until the 16th could drag on a good while yet as could maybe any kongolo deal

Why? Initial loan makes loads more sense. If we sell Grant outright for, say £16m, then we probably get £4m a year for 4 years. However, we would immediately have to settle what we owe Charlton (probably 1m) and also give them their sell-on profit fee (20% of 14m is 2.8m) so Charlton would probably be taking all of this year's money. Loan him for a 5m loan fee and we would have much more cash right now, which allows a bit to be reinvested and some to help keep us afloat and offset the longer period with no Matchday income. This thinking is exactly why PH shouldn't have bought the club as he should be able to cover the whole £16m if he wants us to be at this level.

It’s a strange one this, admitting the next person they look at is going to be their 5th choice. How does that go down with a player? Also does that mean Kongolo has Covid or they haven’t even tried to sign him
