Not a democracy. We are only here at the goodwill of the admins. And in doing a job I wouldn’t ever do have got carried away. It’s like a last of the summer wine version of Trump. I don’t know how the fuck they are representing, it’s not me, I doubt it’s you. They need to get their head out of their own arses and fucking realise real life and real people use this board and find it helpful. In full disclosure I was banned for saying I’d never post again 2 years ago. It’s our forum, not theirs. Grow a fucking pair admins, resign, or change. It’s no5 your bloody forum. Grr. I think you may be muddling me up with someone else who actually gives a fuck Why haven't I been made an admin yet? Its our forum not yours. If you want to start a democratic vote to see if I should be one, then fair enough, I might not be elected but at least it would be democratic. I'll accept the will of the people.

This forum is mirroring the overall decline of the club. Is it is same people running both?

Should we try to have a popular vote to get a fan on to the board of Town? We could but what would be the point as it would not happen.
Nice try but lets get real, we all have a choice to read other peoples posts and to contribute thoughts of our own if we don't like it we can walk away. As fans of Town we don't tend to do this but there may be a point coming where a number will be doing.
I for one would like the admin to take a heavier hand and delete posts that use foul language and ban people for a day or two to give them time to cool down when the dummy's get thrown out of the pram. I believe that this would improve immeasurably to the quality of the message board.

When someone can write c*nt or f*ck instead - what's the point? Banning people for a day or two is an interesting idea, but as you say it is heavy handed. Besides, people will just re-register under another name. Keeping known trouble makers on the board is one way of knowing where they are!

Frustrating. Hopefully the admins are big enough to look at the results of this vote and act accordingly by actioning what is voted for by a massive majority. Doubt it mate. One of the admins liked my initial post, no doubt sarcastically. They’re happy to reply to those who agree with them, and bathe in the praise, but have you noticed how they don’t even engage with people who disagree? Despite those people actually being part of a majority? Laughable really. I can guarantee no other football forum is run by 2 admins who show such little regard to the rest of the fanbase. Shame as the admins probably have a lot to offer in terms of football knowledge but they’re letting themselves down with this fiasco. We go again. Up the Town. I milked your initial post because it was hilarious. The suggestion that Kenny and I are somehow enjoying this because it fuels our egos is patently ridiculous. The hysteria this relatively simple change has caused is astounding and the fact that some have somehow managed to take a simple house-keeping move that wasn't our idea but was a user suggestion backed up by proof it works elsewhere and have suggested it's somehow us on some kind of power trip and it the end of the fucking world is laughable. What do we gain out of making a change with the intention of pissing people off, which is effectively what has been suggested? Some people have worked with the change and are already seeing the benefits. Kenny and I have discussed this and agreed we will review the outcomes after the window closes and consider whether to keep them for the January window or revert to the previous system of hundreds of pages if indecipherable shite with irrelevant posts, posters claiming to know something and proving they know fuck all and people linking to unsourced rumours on twitter while everyone waits for Maynard to tell us what will really happen.

There's also plenty of forums where they keep it all in one thread and it works perfectly fine. Not sure why you took one example (Chelsea) and just ran with it. All it needed was to move any financial talk out of the transfer thread and in to the Town Finances thread which cant be that difficult to do

Leaving us to read half baked shite from folk who pretend they're in the know (or want to be admins 😉) until such time as Maynard gives us something concrete to go on

I don’t think it’s outlandish to claim that all of this is fuelled to stroke your ego, to be honest. Why else would you ignore the majority? Reviewing what to do with a transfer thread AFTER the window has closed, so subsequently hardly any rumours or news to discuss? Jesus wept. Shame really.

As opposed to having 15 different threads each with a hundred posts on, which still end up as irrelevant waffle? The chat is no different I've just got twenty places to go in and out of to find it all. The rumours and the in the know posts? How is that changed by the new format?

The closest thing would be to make talk of the town the landing page for the forum, but no doubt if we did that people would reach for their torches and pitchforks. Why don't you save it as a bookmark on your phone?

Reviewing what to do for the next transfer window after the revised way of doing things has had around a month to bed in. Jesus was a snowflake. Why is no-one allowed to become an admin? To whom does this site belong? We were "allowed to become admins"! We decided that two people who often look at things from a different perspective works well. Three may well slow adjudications down and gets a bit more complicated, but it is not out of the question that we may increase our number by one. Imagine how it was with 6 admins... nothing got done (apologies to all the great admins we had... I'm sure they'll agree it was a bit clunky). By the way, thank you for your interest in the position of DATM administrator. We'll let you know.

You two conveniently deciding that two admins are the perfect number after you two became admins always reminds me of the Zig Ziglar story: He was one of 13 children. And one day he asked his mother what possessed her to have so many. She replied "Well, son, when do YOU think I should've stopped?" I'd ask the admins, would you have been just as happy to see the drawbridge pulled up if you were on the other side?

But I can say with confidence that you won't become one while I have a hole in my arse. That comment may well be tongue in (arse) cheek, but it demonstrates exactly the problem. This isn't your site. It was built on the work of Geoff, then moved forward by Bolts and BBB (amongst others). But, ultimately, it's a community. No community = no site. Every time people leave and don't come back because they feel it's too cliquey, the poorer the site becomes. In short, you are diminishing the site, not enriching it, by exactly the attitude you frequently demonstrate. This place has gone from Plato's Republic to Pinochet's Chile. P.S. Who the fuck would give the job to townrwe, admittedly! Answer: All those world class talent scouts and agents he hangs about with. But, apart from that, I feel the sentiment of my point is valid. P.P.S. I meant Chile!

At the time of writing, less than 25% (54/217) of voters of this poll say they like the current format.
It makes more sense to be part of a minority, as long as you have the same opinion as the admins, than be part of an overwhelming majority.
Why create divide over something that didn’t need such a radical change?
The admins are loving this.
This potential third admin needs to come ASAP, and ideally not be a friend of theirs.

Why don't you save it as a bookmark on your phone? Talk of the Town is my landing page from a bookmark. It’s when I navigate to the transfer sub forum that there’s not a convenient one tap link from the main transfer page, to find my way back to Talk of the Town, as these two forums are linked by nature. Each thread has a link at the top of the page to go back to the main page. If this could be done for the main transfer page to link straight back to Talk of the Town it would be user friendly as opposed to going to tap DATM/HTAFC then tapping on Talk of the Town. Thanks. Personally I prefer this layout. Similar on the Celtic Chat forum, with another option pinned to the top for player suggestions. The sub forum also doesn’t get shut down once the transfer window closes.

As someone who has used a forum just like this, it’s just a different way. Most people don’t like change, that’s natural, but give it a chance. Many have closed their mind off from day one. Edit: Ironically you were asking the admins to get rid of all the off topic waste of space bitching about Phil or Dean or just anything other than transfer stuff off... and rightly so. The admins have tried to do something proactive to get more specific transfer talk, let’s give it a chance.
