£1m bid + add one for Jackson accepted, apparently. Waiting to hear if paperwork was sent. £1m for a lad out of contract in the Summer?? Jeez, and we weren’t to be dicked about by Walsall, and wouldn’t pay wages on Mowatt? Let’s hope he knocks a few in if he joins. Seems a high price for a lad with months on his deal. Mind you, Everton have just laid out £5m for Josh King for six months. I would maybe take the reported fee with a pinch of salt.

Wasn't diakhaby one of the ones on a large wage? He was and no doubt we'll be paying most of it until the end of June or July. But at least he's buggered off.

I wonder how much of his wages we are going to be paying.. Amiens and no French tv deal so I go 75%. Worth saving 25% though.

On one hand I quite admire we have the spine to tell a club to do one if they mess us around like the Walsall deal. Rather that than the pants down scenario. I do wonder though at what point does stubbornness become a fault, be interesting to know just how many rebuffs the club actually gets. Why is Walsall driving a hard deal messing us around? We drove a hard deal with WBA and Grant Time will tell whether we were right to walk away and watch Luton -a close rival- pick up our preferred target for less money than we offered Seems a bit emotive to me and we should have stayed calm rather than panicking in the last minutes of another window

Wish I had your faith mate regarding the reboot. I’ve seen nothing to suggest Phil will ever back an assembly of a top half championship squad. Delighted to get Hoggy to stay but don’t hold my breath for the replacements of the final few big wages this summer to be anything more than other championship club’s cast offs a la Holmes, Ward or some 33 year old veterans, and cheap league one and two punts. With regards any season tickets I think myself and many others will be hanging fire until we see evidence he has enough financial clout to make the necessary signings to be successful at this level. You could argue had that were it not for some pretty unfortunate injuries we would be in the top half now. It's only 4 points away which it can easily be argued Koroma may have chipped in with at least a couple of goals while he's been out to get us them 4 points. If you're only here to support a team that has a chairman with money I'd suggest you leave now. Did nobody support us before Hoyle came in or was just the £100 season tickets or Premier League that got everyone temporarily involved? For most of the last 40 years we'd have dreamed to be where we are now. I've hardly seen a single player go to a club at our level in this window that I thought we should have signed. Seems like we have two different viewpoints. I love the whole ‘go support someone else’ message by the way. I won’t - I’ll just pick my games until I’m convinced our chairman has any genuine interest and ability to take us forward. I would expect any fan would want their team to be the best it can be. And I feel our team could and should be doing a lot better. I disagree we ever had a squad to sustain a top half challenge this season. The whole Phil / Dean takeover deal still absolutely stinks to me. How we’re in such a poor position that our squad with a few injuries can’t cope (when others can) and we can’t score goals because we sold our best two strikers in the summer and replaced them with one well known injury prone lightweight winger just seems ludicrous to me after our premier league stint. I understand player availability is scarce right now but it wasn’t in the summer when a proportion of income from player sales should have been invested on the next Karlan Grant.

Do we think PH has enough money to buy Campbell some studs for his boots?

You disagree we've not got a squad capable of a top half finish yet we're a while 4 points away? Only 1 of the bottom 12 have scored less than us this season so there's another 10 sides that can't cope either or aren't good enough. Who should we have bought then? Everyone keeps saying we should have signed or top quality striker or the next Karlan Grant but who is he? Who have we missed out on?

I don't get drawn into the extreme reactions that some do on here. It's pointless...much like Town most weeks lately Toys/Prams...it's true...not all by anh means, but some folk need to give their head a shake. The money will come from out of contract players and their wages off the books. We may sell (O'Brien??) and reinvest? The next installment of Grant's transfer fee? Either way football is changing below the Premier League and the 'model' will be a lot different going forward. Players on realistic wages and smaller than desired (by fans) transfer fees. We will reboot in the Spring/Summer. And if we can't, Phil should do the right thing and sell the club, The fans won't accept this when we are back at the ground. Even crowds of 8000 will be toxic. Think that's his plan.

Phil knows he can’t come out and say Luton offered him a deal that we couldn’t; a team like Luton outbidding us just sums up what’s happening at the club. We’ve not got a pot to piss in due to Phil having nothing and Dean taking it all. We can’t even blame Covid because that’s the same boat everyone else (including Luton) is in.

To be honest it should have been Ivan Toney given the income generated from player sales over the last 2 years. Well worth the investment even at £2mil over 5 years. And yes I’ll stick my neck out and say we don’t have a squad capable of finishing in the top half. I think anyone would be a lunatic to say otherwise. I’m also willing to bet we finish 15th or below.

Is it an age thing with these sort of threads, or are there loads of adults acting like spoilt kids?
It's Town, we're doing OK in comparison to a lot of other clubs.
I wonder how many on here have tracked the fortunes of all the players we've supposedly "missed out on"? I dare say that in many cases there would be some folk toning it down in here.
