Diakhaby - Good riddance
Fully expected we’d sign a league 1 striker in keeping with our recent signings

Or sounds like complete bullshit and we are saving face. Phil knows he can’t come out and say Luton offered him a deal that we couldn’t; a team like Luton outbidding us just sums up what’s happening at the club. We’ve not got a pot to piss in due to Phil having nothing and Dean taking it all. We can’t even blame Covid because that’s the same boat everyone else (including Luton) is in. The info came from a very good source in Maynard and yet we’re still calling it bullshit. Mr Patience???

Let's face it, if he had the business sense he supposedly has or even common sense for that matter then why would he leave it deadline day only to fuck it up once again. Clueless!

"Quick get to the chopper" (Arnie accent). Hope he doesn't say"I'll be back"😃

Phil: “Hey Siri, find me a Championship level striker”
Siri: “Did you say sign a third choice goalkeeper?”
Phil: “No! Oh on second thoughts it’s cocoa time so why not”
Siri: “Here is a list of lower league goalkeepers listed on finalpaycheque.com”
Phil: “Perfect, night Siri”

If this is the way PH operates he must of had some good people around him to take his business so far. We certainly aren't one of the clubs others will like to do business with anymore.
Can almost picture him today in the Reliant Robin, sidekick Bromby alongside him and Adama in the back, driving from club to club to try and offload him in the hope of a cut price deal on a lower league striker.

£1m bid for Jackson accepted, apparently. Paperwork submitted. That'd be interesting. He's banned for another 2 games and Ipswich fans say he's only any good in a front 2 🤔 We are stuffed then, we play a front 3 😉

Can we all just take a moment to remember Adama as the leech on Hudd he has been.
How dare he get a move to a professional club, there really is no justice in the world that he's so bad at his job yet earns more in a month than 99% earn in a year.
You will not be fondly remembered. Worst signing we've ever made by a country mile for me.

So as options we have our "strikers" or we could convert someone. Hope Danny Grant or Sorba Thomas come good quickly

Well, that’s that.
May as well lock the thread.
This is our squad for the rest of the season.
It’s clear to see where we needed reinforcements, but we haven’t got them and that’s the way it is.
I’m sure the money Phil hasn’t spent in January will be spent in the summer.
I don’t think we’re in massive danger of being dragged into a relegation battle, but I do think we need a couple more wins in the next few weeks to be assured of safety.
Time to back CC and cross our fingers.

An injury to Campbell away from being in a complete mess, UTT That’s my fear.. cue hamstring injury against Luton 😬 Went to write something meaningful but I don’t know if I’m shocked, disappointed or what I feel about not signing a striker.

Oh well, what went wrong (or right maybe for some) here then? Groundhog day all roun. Have we still got the digs in Lepton just in case we need to hole up a signing for 6 months?

What a shambles. The club spent 30 days saying we didn’t need a striker then desperately tried to sign 5 yesterday. Failing to finalise every deal.
Maynard confirmed we were still trying late into the night. Probably sat looking through a yellow pages for anyone who would save face on the cheap.
Christ knows what our level of scouting and long term planning is like if this is how we conduct our business.

Not sure why we were scrambling to find a striker at the last minute. I can't quite get my head around it. We obviously identified players early who we signed in good time such as Holmes, Thomas and Grant, so, did we identify the need for a striker or was this not on the priority list? I reckon that the suits panicked when they realised that not signing a striker was going to alienate a proportion of the fan base (some are ritually burning their scarves in their back gardens as I type). However, because we couldn't get rid of Pritchard and Diakhaby early, our options were somewhat limited. Hence, looking at bargains just to appease the fanbase. I'm not happy if this is the case. There are of course benefits of not signing a striker, although our lack of options up front is a risk. 1. We sign a player who takes two weeks (min) to get our style of play and the rigours of our training regime. If he doesn't get injured it will then maybe take another month before they are firing on all cylinders - this will be around mid-march - a bit late. 2. We sign a proven player like Jutkiewitcz and again he has to adapt to the training and our style of play. He's moved away from family, a short term upheaval, and for what 3 months of purgatory on the training pitch. Strange to understand why he didn't want to move! Therefore, happy that we didn't sign someone just to provide raw meat for the dogs (they'll always want more). Best wait until summer when we have got some wages off the books and can take a proper look.

Best wait until summer when we have got some wages off the books and can take a proper look. Spot on. Without spending any money the board have gone from looking controlled, focused and composed to looking weak, panicked and incapable of operating effectively in the market. All we need now is CC being paraded in front of the press to say he’s happy with the squad anyway, like the victim in a hostage video. Meanwhile PH, Bromby & whoever else is currently within the revolving doors of the club, cower away without saying a word until ST renewal time.
