Think Ive got one in Jimmy McGill. Love the way the letters page gives the full address of the people! Noticed they do that too on The Big Match revisited when Brian moore reads out a viewers letter. I wonder at what point in time the shit started arriving in the doorstep of the person so it got stopped? Roy Greenwood? Front row 3rd from right? Well done, Cap'n - that's the two easy ones done! Now... the toughie...

Last one for today. Can you name the usual two suspects in this line-up? There's a third who went on to be a footballing superstar, but not with Town. Football League Review Volume 6 number 29, Feb/March 1972

Stan Ternent and Chris Balderstone. Way too easy, epsom. And the future superstar? Not sure I’d call him a superstar, but I guess you mean Stan Bowles, third right back row next to Ternent. Guy far left back row was Chris Sutton’s dad.

Oh, he was, epsom. Another maverick in the style of Best, Worthington, Marsh, et alia. 97 goals in 315 appearances for QPR after leaving Carlisle. That's one every three games at the top level.

Well before my time, but had em all apart from Barry.
I wonder if fans of the future, yet to even start supporting the club will rattle off our PL squad photo in the same way?

Good point and I’m just not sure. I don’t know whether kids are as football ( and Town ) mad as kids were when we were younger. If I had a quid for every time I’d looked at that Team Photo on my bedroom wall I’d be a millionaire.

Has Jimmy Nich had a blue rinse and blow before this team photo ? Sadly all of the colour photographs in Volume 6 are of poor quality.

Wouldn’t have got either Stan in a million years but once you’ve been told you can tell easy enough, as for Bowles being a “Superstar” I agree with you anyway MT and the fact is he did appear as one of the footballers on TVs Superstars so by definition he must be ? Didn’t he get the lowest ever score ?

Honestly that was a total guess and didnt even really think it was him anyway!! I knew hed coached at forest before going to man utd where most people will remember him alongside Tommy Docherty, but no idea hed been at Hull. Im only really aware of his time with Town because quite a few years ago now i read a story that mentioned that, where his daughter was very critical of the total lack of financial support her dad had received from the PFA whilst he was dying from Alzheimers. It really pissed me off, mainly because around the same time Id read another story how that little prick Gordon Taylor had just spent about £10m on a Lowry for the PFA offices. So i wrote to him giving him both barrels. Got a reply too off the odious, nest-lining toad.

Two Town connections here - both rather tough, in my opinion. Football League Review Volume 6, number 31, March 1972 Loads more HERE.

I don’t recognise either non-player but I think Halifax’s manager then was George Mulhall. Wasn’t he a coach or assistant manager at Town?

Didnt one of Frankie Worthington's brothers play for halifax in the 70s? Id guess at the long haired lad next to the keeper. Bit tenuous but is that a link?

Not seen that kit before, if I was a Shayman I think I’d be trying to get one of those as a Toffs replica. One for you MT ( or Epsom ) do you recall a player on the fringes of the Town team that went up in 1970, Alan Simpson, apparently he played in a pre season friendly, possibly at Scarborough, then dropped down to the 4th tier, Halifax, Chesterfield and so on ?
