I thought it was Crystal Palace at first.
Edit: According to Historical Kits site the strip was only worn in the final months of the 72/73 season.

Spotted George on the end he later went on to manage them with another Town link Kieran O'Regan, in fact in the last 50 years since the team photo their must hundreds of links between the two Towns.........some good ones & some bad ones!

Didnt one of Frankie Worthington's brothers play for halifax in the 70s? Id guess at the long haired lad next to the keeper. Bit tenuous but is that a link? Yes, but no Worthingtons on here. Think you’ll find Jeff Lee was also at Town but never made the first team. I think the bloke captainslapper thought could be Frankie’s brother, Waddle, played for Liverpool briefly.

Yes, but no Worthingtons on here. Not seen that kit before, if I was a Shayman I think I’d be trying to get one of those as a Toffs replica. One for you MT ( or Epsom ) do you recall a player on the fringes of the Town team that went up in 1970, Alan Simpson, apparently he played in a pre season friendly, possibly at Scarborough, then dropped down to the 4th tier, Halifax, Chesterfield and so on ? No, sorry. There's no Alan Simpson in Town's first team records according to the books that I have, so he might have been a triallist, a youth team player or a Reserve who never got a major chance.

I have supplied much of the HTAFC data on there. This Halifax kit is a bit of a conundrum then; I'll have to contact Dave Moor and point out that this team photo is from March 1972, not 1973, so something somewhere is not quite right.

For a couple of seasons or so around 1970 Halifax played in orange and blue for some reason. I remember seeing them in pre-season friendlies against Greenock Morton and Montrose.

And Dave has got back to me very quickly with an explanation for his graphics... "I remember the confusion this has caused! It turned out this was their change kit in 1971-72. In 1972-73 they played in all-white and these old shirts were trotted out at the end of the season."

I thought I remembered the name Lammie Robertson from my old panini albums. Played for Leicester in the late 70s.

Indeed it does - but this photo is March 1972, not the 1972/73 season.

Went to a couple of games at the Shay that season as a 7 year old with my Grandad. Villa and a 5-0 mullering by Brighton.

One Town connection here, and one very familiar face from a different sport! Football League Review Volume 6, number 33, 25th March, 1972.

One Town connection here, and one very familiar face from a different sport! Football League Review Volume 6, number 33, 25th March, 1972. Easy peasy. I’ll leave the Town player for others, but the other one is David Bairstow, of Yorkshire CCC and England fame. Far right, front row. Died tragically young, lived in a stone house junction of Bradford and Oxford Road in Gomersal. The guy next to him is Michael Owen’s dad, Terry. Some decent players there, Les O’Neill, Bruce Stowell, Cec Podd, John Hall, Cooper, Corner, Middleton.....,

Had a feeling that might come up, pre 1970 (five), although extremely doubtful........ poor BPA, with Kevin Hector's goals almost made Division Two early 60's.

Two Town connections here, both very easy. Interestingly the grandson of one of these played against us in the Cup for Plymouth in January and I flagged it in the match thread at the time, but nobody bit. Hey ho. Football League Review Volume 6 number 35, 8th & 24th April, 1972 Loads more HERE.
