On taking & scoring the winning penalty “You paid more money for me than you’ve paid for anyone else in this club. You made me the club’s record signing. So, I had a duty to give a bit of value back to you” What a man. Terrence Kongolo ? Came after that event.

Are you pointing out that Kongolo's arrival at the club was later than our Wembley win, or are you simply telling us that the front of your underpants was a bit sticky on that day at Wembley?

Walked into that one! I was just about to delete it after reading the rest of the thread and spotting that the point was to highlight difference in attitude, not arrival date. I went though many emotions after Schindy's penalty, but think my pants remained unscathed!

It's a measure of the man that nobody is saying he owes us anything, and we're all unanimously disappointed that we're not getting the chance to say goodbye and mark his time in a Town shirt properly. Like Löwe, it seems he wants to return to Germany and we're prepared to let him go with our blessing, as one of the Town greats. Herr Schindler, it has been a pleasure. I read this a lot, but I've never seen or heard any such comment other than speculation. I'm not in any way suggesting its not correct, but whats the reason people think/say/write this, other than a rumour that has become a fact thru repetition without any challenge ? There's never been the Erik Durm type moans about not knowing where to buy bread etc, he seems to have always kept his cards very close to his chest, and played out every second of being here in an unquestionable "you guys paid a lot of money for me, and gave me an incredible opportunity...I owe you" type manner. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Schindler mind-set was one that felt..."I've failed to deliver for 3/4/5 months...I need to get fit and get playing for this club again, and repay some of that". You're right though, we've been incredibly lucky to have the pleasure of such a player over the last few years. Sure he's made footballing mistakes along the way, but his commitment, dedication and professionalism has been without question. These are the players who should be hero's.

I can see after a year he felt he owed us (remarkable in itself), but if he still thinks he owes the club anything then he's surely the only person in the world who does.
Going from memory so could be wrong but I though it was Maynard who said that he wanted to return to Germany. Understandably if so, he has a young family & seeing out his career closer to home would make perfect sense.

When did we sign Schindler? When did we sign Kongolo? FFS of course I know Schindler was our then record signing, two years before we paid TEN times that amount for Kongolo. It was reflecting on the attitude and return the club and fans got back for the investment on the two signings, if your not sure I did put a like on his post. For the record I can also well remember when Buxton paid a then club record for Tracy. Apologies for that. thought it was a bit odd! Buxton was manager for my first games as a town fan in the early 80s. I've never lived in Huddersfield (my Dad wouldn't let me support anyone else) - unfortunately most of my memories from that time have morphed into a series of draws with Grimsby followed by long drives back to Birmingham.

Bild are usually spot on with what they say.
With how things are currently looking, he is not going to be getting the send off that he deserves but I hope he knows how much of a hero he is in Huddersfield

A true travesty that we won’t be able to give the handsome fella the send off he deserves.
A true club legend.

It's a great shame that we can't give him a send off. He is legend just for slotting that penalty away but sadly, as a player, he looks shot.

Players come players go but some never actually leave in a weird way and will always be “town players” Schindler is up there with the all time greats to have donned a town shirt! Sad if true.

So so different on and off the pitch...but him and Hefele both join that list of 'players you expect will still be fondly recalled in 20+ years time'

He will go back to Germany the possessor of the most embarrassing football chant in history Yes he will Really? So the ‘Posh Spice is a slapper’ chant, the Adebayor ‘shot in Angola’ chant....and the rest, are less embarrassing than a tongue in cheek chant about one of the best centre half’s we have ever had?
