Minutes wise this season it works out around 16 games with 7 goals & 1 assist. For comparison Campbell has played the equivalent of around 33 games with 7 goals & 2 assists. I don't think that anybody would seriously be comparing Jordan Rhodes and Fraser Campbell as goalscorers would they ? What about as footballers ?

I'd love the transfer comittee to come out and explain their thinking behind signing Rhodes PH: “Right gents, SC take-ups are low. I need a marquee signing. Lee, Who’ve you got on your contact list” LB pulls out a small slip of paper and studies it . LB: “How about Jon Stead. He knows the club really well” PH: “Nah, it didn’t work out last time. Whose else have you got” LB studies his slip of paper and looks up enthusiastically “Jorden Rhodes” PH: “Now we’re talking. Marsh, check his stats” Marsh: “Pretty poor the last few years boss” LB:”Ah, but check them out in 2012” Everybody anxiously awaits as Marsh reloads FM12. Marsh” “Wow boss, absolutely incredible numbers” PH: “Yes! Let’s do it. And..” as he pauses for effect”...it’s a free transfer!” CC:”But Senor Phil, I’ve seen him play for the Massive and I don’t think he’ll fit my system” PH:”You can make it work Carlos. Lee, remind me to add to my May update that we now have 6, yes 6, strikers” CC: (half jokingly) ”I guess if it doesn’t work out I can use him as a backup at left back. That will let me use LOB in a better position further forward” An uncomfortable silence falls over the room. PH:” Er Carlos, I forgot to mention it to you before, but it’s about LOB……….” CC:”Wait! What!” PH:”Now Carlos, think of the club. No fans, Covid 19, DH calling me every 10 minutes. Do you want us to be one of those 50 clubs?” PH:”Right, moving on, who's next?” LB:”Keogh will accept a 30% pay reduction if we sign him” PH:”Make it 50% and he’s in” Suddenly PH’s phone rings. PH looks down. PH:”Damn, it’s DH again. That’s 3 times he’s called since the meeting started” LB:”I think I’ve got some good news for you about that Boss. I got a very encouraging call from QPR regarding Komora” Whilst all congratulate Lee on his prowess and PH calls DH with the good news, Carlos quietly calls his agent. CC:” Manuel, call Bielsa and see if he’s still looking for a coach for his under 17s” Manuel:”You want the job now?” CC:”No, but I’m guessing I’ll be available come late September, early October, if he can wait”. Mr Canuck, this is really good can you run it as a mini series to keep us amused as things progress

I don't think that anybody would seriously be comparing Jordan Rhodes and Fraser Campbell as goalscorers would they ? What about as footballers ? Neither brilliant, both passable. Neither very pacey. I think the stats show that Rhodes actually has more assists than Campbell.Rhodes seems happy to spend time in the opponents' penalty area, Campbell doesn't (Sky TV pundit made that point). We'll probably get into the old argument about what you see a striker's main job as - my view is that he should score goals, others perhaps that they should lead the press, be the first line of defence etc etc. For me it's so much easier to get the runners-about/closing downers - a goal scorer is priceless in a team. We haven't had one for quite a while - we've been fighting relegation for quite a while. (I suspect we'll both agree that our defence isn't exactly blameless in this !).

We don't need a striker to score goals,Man City prove this point, all Carlos needs to do is watch match of the day and copy off them I'm always amazed that professional footballers, some on £m's a year..players who've been through the academy systems since the age of 7...10-12 years of training, professional coaching, practicing, improving technique..arrive through the U17's, U21's, U23's into the first team and can't hit the target from 20 yards, and worse..still can't shoot with either foot ? Everyone I ever played with (albeit admittedly only local leagues) would spend hours at shooting practice as kids, with both feet...(not at the same time of course)... I played up front and didn't hesitate to shoot with either foot because i'd practised, if you hesitated to get it onto your 'right' foot in the works league or sunday leagues you'd be absolutley clattered...so it was a matter of surviving as much as anything...

To be fair to Rhodes, his efforts this season look like getting Wednesday out of the Championship.

Could be bollocks and I’ve never heard of the lad but it’s about time we looked for young, raw talent from lower leagues again

Wouldn't that definitely include Thomas, Grant (Danny), Koroma, Maybe Rowe, Grant (Karlan) depending on your definition.

Links breaking from a reputable journalist in South America, that Town are set to sign striker, Lazaro from Flamengo. 19yr old former Brazilian U17 International who has yet to make a senior breakthrough. Appeared twice I think.

Played for Brazil U/17’s in 2019 World Cup. Scored the winners in both the semifinal and the final. Contract expires in 2025. Off the back of the rumour of the Brazilian striker in the Jan window then we’ve obviously got someone employed down there otherwise it’s pure guess work. Definitely seems like a Brentford type player.

Appeared twice I think. hes going to love the life change, seeing the grey skies and the rain, and seeing all the empty shops in Huddersfield. I have always thought Brentford can sign all these up and coming lads because of the chance to Live in London, and be put in the shop window for bigger clubs down there . also the chance to pop round to the Queens house for tea , and only 5 minutes on the tube to the Big City.

I’m looking at this window to be of a similar ilk to Wagner’s first summer . We might not know many of the players and some may be flops but it builds up excitement.
Football fans love the unknown

Mate of mine has connections with Gateshead and apparently Jacob Chapman heading on loan to them for next season. Decent move if true.

As far as Lazaro goes... dying to know what some of the comments say. I'm guessing it'll be something like, "Who the fuck are Huddersfield" in Portuguese.

Sounds very promising, looks quite a gifted technical player which most Brazilians are.
Will wait for confirmation before I get my hopes up and overhype him as the next Neymar and join the HMS Piss The League boat next season.

It seems we are taking their ‘jewel’ and for only €3m and not €100m. One thinks it’s a good move for him because he will play, not like the last player they sold to the biggest club in the world and no longer plays.
