I think it's telling that the only club that's seriously tried to buy him are Forest, if they are, it's the longest transfer in history, I don't think he is as highly rated by others as much as he is by Town. Sure he's a great player but his all round game needs work, he's certainly not irreplaceable that's for sure. How do you know they are the only club who are seriously trying to buy him ? You "in the know" Art ? I Know you think there is some sort of 'alchemy' at work in footballing matters but if a West Ham or a Leicester or Leeds seriously wanted him and thought he was worth the 10 million, they would have snapped him up. The simple fact, as you alluded to previously, is that he is only worth what someone will pay and in this instance, it's Forest at a knock down price , if we are to believe the deal. I suspect Toffolo will spend most of his PL maychdays sat in the stands and LOB warming the subs bench. |

Slightly bigger picture is both want to make more money and have a crack at the top division. Toffolo will go free next summer and stopping him going now and getting Prem perks will piss him off and O’Brien. Pragmatic view is get as much for both, hence protracted negotiations, but let them go.
I think the players we have brought in, although not exact matches as players, still have the ability to improve us. I don’t think this has anything to do with selling cheap to grab a bit of money back for DH.

So if we value the players more than what’s being offered then we value them enough to know they’re an integral part of why we got where we got last season. Is it more beneficial to have toffs wind down his contract and have another crack at promotion? It seems we’re not getting much for him? Teams spunk 10’s of millions on players that flop. We have a great player at this level who won’t down tools as he does inevitably want that bigger move so it’s a safe bet to say he will be as professional as he was last season if he were to stay. I know Lewis money is substantially more and I’m sure the club has done everything they can to make them stay but if we are letting them go for less than was written in the contract then that reeks of desperation. Like a lot of fans have said we don’t know the ins and outs of the deals but the club used to be a bit more transparent then now. A bit more info would save a lot of squabbling on here. Again some fans say we are not entitled to this information but some clarity would be nice.
