I predict Rooney will leave in the next few weeks, claiming that he's doing the honourable thing as Derby can't afford to keep him, but in reality it will mean he can escape without a relegation on his CV. You may be right but my gut feeling he will stay because he has the character to fright this his team showed that on Saturday but of course things could be taken out of his hands feel for the staff etc but the club is responsible for its own actions so not a lot of sympathy on that score I agree - and it doesn't sound like he has any intention of walking away at all >> Asked what it would take for him to walk away, Rooney said: "I've said before, I care." "The football side of it I'm enjoying. I enjoy trying to improve players. "If you look at the difference in some of the players to maybe a year ago, it's massive. Even some of the older players, Curtis [Davies] and Jags [Phil Jagielka], the performances they're putting in. "And then seeing the likes of Max Bird developing. Louie Sibley, who's had tough moments. He's come into the team the last few weeks and we've seen a steady rise in his performances." "I'm enjoying that side of it and I wouldn’t forgive myself if I walked out on them players because I'm asking them to sacrifice a lot, and give everything. So for me to leave them in the lurch and walk out, that's just not in my nature."

If Derby get just the straight -12 I'd say that they have a good chance of surviving. Despite all the negative press that WR gets here, he's not doing a bad job with limited resources. And they are winning games. -19 might be just a bridge too far; would be amazing if they were to pull that one off!

Said it before but if you were to believe some of the posts on here before the first match against us Derby were going to be starting with eight youth players, as it was the team they put out and teams they have subsequently put out are basically all established players, i too think -12 is doable but -19 probabaly not.

-19 would need a team capable of getting 70 points, just outside of the playoffs. Not sure that is the current Derby side.

Surely if it's -12 for administration, then it's -12 or -21? As the agreed punishment with EFL for previous charges was -9 this season, -3 next season.
They'll also get a further -3 if they don't pay their players on time in the next few days which there's probably every chance of.
They may as well just go out with a bang and try to rack up the biggest points deduction possible for shits n gigs.

Where has a 19 point deduction been mentioned?

Where has a 19 point deduction been mentioned? It hasn't. Its a poor maths bodge-up of -12 and -9; it should be -21. I should have checked my maths. And me an ex-teacher... D'oh!!

I suspect the Administrators may well be happier with the full -21 now as they will then know they are trying to sell a L1 club (unless there is a miracle set of results) and any purchasers know the same rather than -12 now the other other -9 (or 12) being applied at an unknown later date.

Reading the bit on the BBC website quoting the Wycombe chairman, who's well pissed off and would like to sue. The soft transfer embargo that WRDCFC are under also includes another 15 point deduction if they fail to repay 25% of the unsecured creditors. At this rate they may get 12 + 9 + 15 = 36 points deduction. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58622433

The "soft" embargo stinks. The players they were allowed to sign 6 weeks ago on one year contracts are (as football creditors) entitled to the remaining 46 weeks of their contracts before any unsecured creditors are paid!

His parents may have called him Mel Morris.... I’d say Derby County fans would call him Hell For Us !

And then when they had their maximum squad size of 23 that they were allowed, they lost a couple of players to long term injuries, so they were allowed to sign 2 more players. Makes a mockery of the idea of a transfer embargo.

Reading next for the -9 points? Another club who have spent ridiculous amounts of money to try and get to the PL - and haven't they done the ground sale as well?

Less than a third of the "value" of Pride Park. Real Estate in Derby is clearly going through a boom whilst Reading suffers.

It's times like these when we give thanks for being a responsibly run club. Phil Hodgkinson isn't popular but he's keeping us on the right side of the line (as far as we know, anyway).

First Derby and now it appears Reading are "negotiating" punishments with the EFL. Surely they take the full penalty and appeal if they think it is wrong?

An interesting point raised on mondays price of football podcast. With the transfer window closed, season tickets cash already recieved, and not owning the ground. If Morris was writing a cheque for £1.5m a month, How will the administrators find the funds required to run the club?
Wigan had the transfer window to sell players and raise cash. Derby have nothing to sell apart from players except maybe the training ground?

Also, I listened to the mel morris interview. He started of claiming how their version of player depreciation was more realistic than the standard straight line version used by every other club.
But later complained that because the player depreciation was heavily loaded towards the end of the contract period and assumed that they would sell them rather than them leave for nothing. They were hit harder by covid than every other club because player values slumped.
Seems to have forgotten that he raised the wage bill from 16m to 46m over 4 years with 30m turnover.

But surely we're only talking about 2016-18 accounts in all this. As far as I'm aware Derby haven't released the accounts for 2019 or 2020 (and it's only the last 3 or 4 months of the latter that are Covid related anyway). Talking b******s as usual, trying to deflect scrutiny away from him.

He sounds like Barry Rubery on the best cocaine ever produced. He's spunked £275m on getting to the premier league over 7 years by himself instead of employing people who know what they are doing, like wolves or even the unmentionables down the road.
This from a guy who 5 minutes after he bought Jacob Butterfield off us for £5m yes £5m said, we are not ready for the Premier league, we don't want to get promoted too quickly like when we were totally shit back in 2007/8, that was the black flag right there. Derby dropped from top to 7th in proper gary monk fashion over the last 2/3months of the season and never recovered.
What a total train crash, Bolton style.

And they have Richard Keogh to pay £2.3M. Doubt he will see a penny of that It's a football debt - if they don't pay it in full the club won't be able to remain in the EFL when they exit administration.
