Stoke City accounts released show they made a loss of £96m in 19/20. Considering they had another season without generating gate income etc and they must be hanging by a thread!
Those Town fans begging for money to be splashed should be a) patient and b) realistic.

They might fall foul of FFP but its unlikely they'll be in danger of going bust as they're owned by the Coates Family who own BET365, the world's biggest on-line betting company.

IMO oly Joe Allen is Premier League quality but to rack up that debt they must have a lot of journeymen Championship players earning millions a year in wages

Bit of loose change to Denise Coates. Think she's the highest paid salary in the country. All subject to PAYE no fiddling around with Dividends/tax avoidance etc. Hats off to her.

They've taken advantage of being able to not take covid losses into account for FFP. Still a big loss, but not quite as big as the headline seems.

Even so, a circa £50m loss, in the championship, during a season where they received 75% of their income at least is alarming. One would presume that has only gotten worse over the last 12 months.

Are Reading still on a crusade to have the largest wage bill in world football? Saw Omar Richards is leaving for Bayern Munich on a free meaning the get absolutely nothing for him. If they'd have managed to get a fee for him whilst he was still in contract, they might have made a small dent in their ridiculous debt. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57266045

I wonder how much Stoke still owe us for Ince & Smith? Ince was £10m+ & Smith was around £4m.

If we are up against clubs that have and probably still are losing £1m a week and other clubs that are spending 200% of their income on wages not forgeting clubs that have sold their grounds to get around FFP and owe £ms in deffered PAYE then I suggest PHs approach of clearing debts, slashing the wage bills and acquiring players we can afford might actually be the right thing to do.

I’m surprised he hasn’t taken ownership of their training ground as collateral! Joking aside, that’s £4m that we will be paying him back out of our coffers that he decided to give to another club. By the time we’ve paid him off he’ll have invested more money in Reading than us.

Please whoosh me if I am wrong, but wasn't that a sweetener for the loser? If Town had lost, then Town would have benefited similarly. If so, he didn't decide as you say, it was just a bet, and a fine way to mitigate slightly the 'winner takes all' nature of the final.

Don't be an arsehole all your life, all DH did was to cover all bases if Reading had gone up instead of town then it would have been them paying town 6 million.

Just share your opinion on the matter ffs, every opinion is valid whether you agree with them or not.

On a forum it's often better if posters can accept people will have different views to them, all good debate.

Not related to Derby, but apparently a fair few Sheff Weds players are considering handing their notice in and leaving. Apparently FIFA regs say if you haven't been paid for 2 months and after a further 15 days you still havent been paid then you're within your rights to walk away from the club

They told him no, or something similar 😂. It does sound like the chairman has either run out of money that he wants to fund the club with, or he just doesn't care anymore and is happy for it to go into administration.
