Annoyed that he’s retiring from football. On his day he was a good player but had such an injury ravaged career.

Annoyed? Is it part of some personal vendetta he has with you?

Sad to hear, he was great for us when fit! We'd have never seen him in a Town shirt if it wasn't for his injuries. One of the most committed strikers I've seen play for us.

Amazed he’s lasted as long as he has the way he used to play

Vaughan and Beckford were a proper handfull. We all know he was made of glass, but on his day, and he had a few of them for us, Vaughan was almost unplayable.

It was a dangerous combination having someone both injury prone and yet lacking the self control to pull out of a few situations. Couldn't fault his commitment on his day but should have played more games in his career and less time on the treatment table than he did. Best wishes to him in whatever he plans to do next.

Would have fitted nicely into the prem team at the beginning of his stay with us . He was that good. As soon as he got injured he wasn't much use to us

Great player for Town when fit. Knew how to get stuck in and work hard without being a headless chicken or a liability. A real crowd favourite.

I opened this up expecting him to have penned a 3 year contract with us.

A case of what might have been regarding James Vaughan, think its fair to say if injury hadn`t blighted his career so much he wouldnt have ended up with us, but he did end up with us and we all saw how good a player he could be, he had a decent career but it could have been so much better.

Apologies, spellchecker changed from announced... was going to change before anyone noticed... Absolutely no chance of that on here. We’re quicker than Danny Ward getting an injury.

Still think his biggest mistake was not committing to Wagner.

Still think his biggest mistake was not committing to Wagner. think he just knew the limits of his body really. he was injured quite often when we trained much more irregularly under Powell. Vaughan under Wagner would've been like Ward under Corberan. Not nearly as big a victim of the double training as Joel Lynch, however!

Vaughan and Beckford when both on their day were my favourite strike partnership at Town, so dynamic. Wolves at home that season really sticks out, they were both absolutely unplayable.

And wolves away. Beckford came on as sub after weeks out. Incredible last half hour with him and Vaughan tearing them apart. Went 3-1 up then it all kicked off. Great away day

And there were plenty of folk quite recently dissing the squads we'd put together in our first few championship seasons.... Vaughan Beckford Clayton Norwood Lynch Hamill etc Some right players.

Great away day Don't do a lot of away days but I remember going to that game. Went by train, even though I don't drink much on match days, and walked to Molineux from the station. We seemed to be miles up in the gods in the stadium and at half time I got talking to an old dear that had been supporting Town a long time and told me of going to away games on the 'football specials' in the 50's.
