The appalling scenes before and after last nights game will scupper any chance of this country hosting the World Cup. The brainless idiots were out in force and yet there hasn't been that much on the news about it, it's like the authorities are trying to keep quiet over it. 875 football related offences before during and after were recorded by the Met police and over 100 arrest's were made, fans were beaten up, 100's forced there way in, people had tickets snatched out of their hands, Police and stewards attacked, windows smashed, bottles and cans just thrown at will in to the crowds causing many injuries. These drunken, drug fueled, brainless idiots who just absolutely thrashed Leicester Sq should be made to clean up the thousands of bottles they smashed on their hands and knees.
The trolls are back racially abusing the players but surprisingly Gareth Southgate said, that most of the tweets were from abroad, so who are these racist foreigners, is Putin behind it!!. The people doing it in this country are not football fans, but they need to be hauled before the courts the lot of them

Russia hosted it in 218 and they have a far greater issue with football violence and racism in society and in football. If we don’t ever host it, it’s got nothing to do with last night.

I dont honestly think it will have a bearing on any future world cup bids, Russia and Qatar were both controversial venues for various reasons, theres already talk of all the home nations plus Ireland putting in a joint bid for 2030. Lets be honest the UK could host a world cup next week, we have the stadia, its a football mad nation, short travelling distances etc, it would be great if it did happen, but the way FIFA decide the host nation is controversial as we all know.

I disagree to be honest.
I think the euros have brought the country together. And a load of faceless internet trolls looking for and getting a big media reaction shouldn't take the shine off it.
The scenes yesterday would of been no different in plenty of countries if the hosting nation got to the final and the security were equally as useless and unorganised.
Its kicked off big time in plenty of major tournaments over the past few decades.

Given pretty much all the tickets were mobile tickets, getting a ticket snatched out of your hand is some achievement.

Im not sticking up for it. You get idiots everywhere. But like I said you've seen far worst trouble at plenty of major tournaments of recent times. As soon as something happens in England or involving england everyone loves to jump on it. The Italians themselves can be a set of horrible t@#ts in their own country at the football. I've seen plenty of media outlets showing the vid of english fans trying to stop the ticket less english from getting in and fighting. They are labelling it English attacking italian fans when it wasnt.

They love sensationalising.

Why would England be prevented from hosting because of such minor infractions in the grand scheme of things?
French killed two people and trashed the place after their World Cup VICTORY.
Brazillian police were setting off flash bangs in stadiums to control fans just months before their World Cup.
We seem really poor at proportionality, I don’t know why we repeatedly hold ourselves to a higher standard than the rest of the world and lambast ourselves when minorities fall short of those standards, whether talking about violence or racism.

Shocking stuff in the video INSIDE Wembley. A feral mob kicking people on the floor in the head. There is even one bloke who must be 60 doing it! Meanwhile the dozen stewards in the background stand idly by. I have truly come to despise my own country.

Is it just me that thinks what is worse than the 5 people attacking the one defenceless one on the floor, it’s the 25 people standing by to watch and film it on their phones ?

We have an undercurrent of unacceptable behaviour by a minority. One of the problems at Wembley was we have gone from over a year of not policing any sporting events to holding a huge event in central London. That is the worst I have seen for a long time and it was like a cork out of a bottle for all the pisshead idiots.
We have always had this but most potentially violent events are heavily policed. I doubt there was time to get security in place for this one given the shifting sands regarding attendance.
A large part of this was post COVID lockdown reaction but it should be a reminder that this awful stuff is just below the surface. I hope we soon return to ‘normal service’.

Thing is we see behavior like this at town games remember Barnsley away breaking into beer kiosk, throwing beer over everyone people on here defending it as Terrace bants/culture. It will get worse due to lack of social and personal responsibility and the lack of consequences there is.

The major factor will be how much coin the government is willing to throw at fifa in brown envelopes

All FIFA will be worried about is how much money they can get from host countries for holding the World Cup. Anything else is irelivant. One thing I have noticed with the Met Police is they tend to keep a low profile, hide around the corner and act when a issue occurs rather than have strong policing from the start to prevent issues happening.

Looking at the bigger picture, any terrorist organisations watching will be salivating at how easy it was for a few pissed up hooligans to gain access to the stadium.

Your last line is exactly what the copper said when I reported. Criminal damage to my car a month ago.I pointed out that I had also been in lockdown and didn't go around damaging other people's property. They ,the police are not investigating! It is costing me thousands to put it right, none of it my fault, but I suppose that's ok as far as they are concerned!

Meanwhile the dozen stewards in the background stand idly by. I have truly come to despise my own country. To be fair, stewards aren't really there to stop fights. And if they did step in, you can bet your bottom dollar the loons would be suing them because they "didn't deserve" to be restrained or fought back against or whatever. 😡 The world has changed. When we were kids, a school teacher would wade into a fight with impunity and yank out whoever was 'winning', with a slap round the back of the head for good measure if that was needed to snap the steam out of the situation - now they have to call for security. I think its an unfortunate side effect of gentrification of society. We've seen this accelerated over the last few years, but really there's been a gradual creep for a couple of generations now towards 'not offending' / 'being accepting of all, including aggressors' etc. All very nice and liberal (small 'l'), but it means those who are the ones that really DO need to change no longer just creep across the line of acceptable behaviour, but they smash right through it undeterred given there is very little real percieved consequence...its always someone else fault, someone else to blame, they're a victim too...wah wah..

I like watching Ben Foster’s ‘Cycling GK’ videos on YouTube as they’re a real insightful behind the scenes watch, plus he’s an entertaining, down-to-earth guy.
He managed to get tickets for him and his son to go and watch the final - watch the bit from 2.28 onwards where they’re walking to Wembley; you can hear and see he’s really not happy with the atmosphere and environment he’s having to walk through and keeps his son very close...
