There have been 440 members on in the last 24 hours, 332 have voted . The majority vote in favour of otium. I don't think Otium should have been banned, but you appear to be mistaking a football club forum for an exemplar of democracy. Get over it. Or get Nick back.

If Otium was just a small percentile as intelligent as the spaff he spouts - he would have been back on the board in minutes.
You’ve all watched the soap opera for too long.
We all die folks - if you want preferential treatment at the end try not to be a obnoxious and racist c*** beforehand.
Ban me for life please Graham - it needed saying
FUCK ALL YOU RACISTS.
Good evening.

BDG …. I get your stance and your reluctance to stand down on it. I don’t know Oti, I know he’s a Town fan, I know he’s had some/ got some spurious ideas about stuff. From a personal point I’ve seen a lot of death and the best death is when you can articulate before you can’t anymore. Cancer is a fine example, you can plan, that’s a good thing. Let him post before he can’t anymore. He’s probably scared but would never say it. I think it would mean a lot to him. PS And if he doesn’t die any time soon we can all kick fuck out of him😊😊 The fact that he openly expressed his apology demonstrates that he wants to still post while he can. It's a brave move by the admins, because not only have they terminated the chance for otium to communicate with people he will see as friends and fellow town fans, they've also terminated the opportunity for many of us to help keep otiums spirits raised in his final weeks of his life. He's openly fought his battles on here, Experiences that other posters may well draw on if they ever face a life ending illness themselves - it's a shame that those experiences have been denied to people that may well benefit from them in the future. The forum has voted to bring him back. The forum is not the 3 people that administrate it. You raise a very good point. Whatever anyone thinks of otiums opinions and his right to say them, one thing I think most would agree with me about is that the way he has dealt with his illness and the terminal diagnosis it brought about has been pretty inspirational. He has had this belligerent refusal to let it stop him living his life how he wants to, or to let it send him into a spiral of depression. Think most people, myself included , would probably just turn very quickly into a depressed, scared wreck of what we were. I think its a real shame that for the crime of saying something bad about gays ( I repeat, a view no different than what the mainstream religions freely have in this country ) that he has been denied the opportunity to communicate on here ( and he was on here a lot so must have become a big part of his day ) and we have lost the opportunity to support him, for what thats worth, as his life comes to its end. I get he's had warnings from those that deem those opinions not just wrong ( like just about everyone else does including myself ) but unacceptable to even say , but bloody hell, the penalty doesn't seem to match the crime in any way to me.

I think one problem is.. and I think this happened to otium . If you get a ban the only way you know about it is to find out you are locked out. No reasons given . No chance for a discussion. No chance to action your account to see what rheadmins are saying. Some chancer pmed me with the express intention of getting me banned on Saturday. If i had been banned I would have had no opportunity to explain what had happened from my perspective. To confuse matters people often get the "you are banned " message due to a glitch in the system . When you aren't banned . So you are sat there wondering if you are banned or not and what have you done this time !!! I'm curious as to how someone PM's you with the intent of getting you banned? I think he thought if he poked me enough I'd swear at him and he'd go running to the admins .. because I'm an idiot I responded to him . He went running to the admins. Lesson learnt on my part

This is a message board for town fans to supposedly talk football. It seems all this shit has blown up on an off topic bit where it's just an argument. But if you have a different view to the administration you are out . And if they have certain political leanings or views on sexuality that is the standard. Not everyone will share those views but that's tough .

If what you were saying were true, they wouldn't be here. As demonstrated today, year to date there have been 8 lifetime bans. 5 of those were one person who had already been banned in a previous year, and one was someone who joined solely to spam. So 2 people year to date. Who have spent years not being banned. What you're saying here is palpably ridiculous.

To have an enforceable vote for Oti without having one for everyone ever banned from.the site would be a disgraceful act. Maybe thats what's missing? It seems such an extreme measure to ban someone, perhaps it should be put to the vote - although it'd just become a popularity contest. Maybe what's required for such situations is a larger pool of moderators, who don't play a part in the day to day site admin, and in the event of an impending ban, the admin put the explanation for why a banning is justified, the poster gets a PM with that same info and is given a week to respond with a defence, and then the moderators have a week to deliberate and decide if the admin was justified in their original decision or not? Is it possible to temporarily block a poster from posting but enable them to see and respond to PM's? That way a user could be effectively suspended pending the outcome of the 'appeal', but still have the means to participate in that appeal.

Otium himself has asked for no special treatment because of his condition. Despite this, he has been given more chances than any other poster would ever have received, and a huge factor in this was his condition. Given that he is in touch with some members here outside of DATM< I'm certain that if your main concern is to have a line of communication with him that can be arranged by you and those he is in touch with. The forum has 16000 members. Fewer than 200 of those members have voted in a poll that was never going to have any impact on the decision. If Otium wanted to keep posting, he was fully aware of a) the rules b) the consequences of breaking them and c) that expressing the view that homosexuality is deviant had already resulted in him getting a sanction. I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy. I watched my mum die from it and my wife battle it, among many I've known with it. But, as callous as it sounds, it's entirely irrelevant as even Ron himself said it should be. There's a huge majority voted to bring him back. The forum might have 16,000 members but about 15,500 of those are dormant accounts. Stop posting irrelevant figures to defend your point. Ignore it if you want, but it's legitimately gauging the views of the people that are the forum. You are NOT the forum. Neither are you the person to police this board although you appear to consider you are.I remember now how you and a few others tried to create a different forum. On that forum correct me I am wrong but you banned Nick?and understandibly you and your little group didn't last long.

The rules were voted on by the members five years ago after seven days of debate on here, including opportunities to suggest amendments. Seventy-one percent voted in favour, twenty-nine percent against adopting the final draft. The Admins have followed them to the letter, with the only complaint being they’ve been too slow to act at times. So much nonsense in this thread.

If you believe those rules require review then have a debate about what needs changing. Changes can then be determined by a democratic vote. Those who then use the board can decide, as they can now, whether they continue to use it or not. The past 3 days have seen some arguing all of the above, (unfairly in my view) criticising the admins and making (once again in my view) some illogical justifications for their positions. Otiums' terrible illness is irrelevant to this debate. He was deemed to have broken the rules (with past warnings taken into account), he was banned, he's apologised (I understand) and there's a debate is about whether he should be reinstated. His apology can only really be judged by those who are from the group who could be offended. The remainder of this debate is perfunctory.

If people choose not to vote, it doesn't mean the vote is invalid. I know you're unlikely to reinstate Oti but don't try to discredit the vote result.

Having read BDGs words I think I might have changed my mind. Reckon oti gave them very little choice. Sad really that after being explicitly told not to use that kind of term that he chose to again. On an aside note BDG. This reporting. Do folk get to find out they’ve been reported?? While I probably accept that there has to be some type of reporting ( imho only for direct aimed abuse) I would never ( and wouldn’t know how to) report anyone. As with most forms of social media I simply accept it’s very easy to type shite that you wouldn’t say to someone’s face. I've liked this purely because it's refreshing to see someone on DATM with an open mind; normally people form a view and don't change no matter what counter-argument is put forward or what subsequent events unfold. Hallelujah 😆

If people think those rules are wrong let's have a democratic decision on what people think needs to change. I have no idea who everyone is talking about but if he is banned for whatever reason ( and there appears to be many) then that’s the end of the issue just move on. I want the Brexit vote overturned but it won’t happen as these are the rules. ( But that Silly sod and his cronies will not get back in again) as the rules allow us to vote him out just as happened to Otium.
