Bigdaddyg,
How come you are the only admin answering/replying to these issues?
Are you the nominated admin spokesperson?

Problem with the reporting log is that I would imagine the vast majority of reporting is done by certain individuals with the standard 'wokey' intolerance to any comment that flicks their 'offensive' button. And its a button thats easily flicked. The reporting is always going to be a pretty one sided affair on here as a result. hahaha, this is hilarious. The man who has 35,000 posts which I imagine are mostly complaining on the off topic section about covid, muslims or ted is now trying to say people are easily offended. I love this site.

Bigdaddyg, How come you are the only admin answering/replying to these issues? Are you the nominated admin spokesperson? I find it completely pointless getting into some argument regarding all of this. Someone raises a report and I adjudicate... end of. I also post quite a bit... usually about football/HTFC. Gag_N_Bone_Man (Destabiliser) has gone into some detail explaining our decision making here, something which he needn't have done, but which I commend him for. He speaks for all of us... why duplicate it?

Bigdaddyg, How come you are the only admin answering/replying to these issues? Are you the nominated admin spokesperson? No. Just the only admin on here today with the availability to engage, I guess. Plus, I feel it appropriate that, given how many people have decided (despite being told otherwise) that the banning of Oti was my decision, or the decision of people I somehow control, that I want to defend the integrity of what we do as a team. I am a vocal poster here, more so than Kenny and Rigdon, and some people feel that is at odds with the admin role. I disagree, naturally. I think that the number of posts reported from the politics board, and my visibility there, means I am well positioned to add context to the discussions about reported posts. When the post reported is too close to home (i.e. from a thread I'm actively involved in) I'll usually recuse myself from the vote but may add comments from my perspective. I thoroughly respect the views and conduct of the other two admins and feel that, since the grief coming our collective way is mainly being directed at me, I should kop the flack - whatever your views of me those two deserve nothing but respect and gratitude from all concerned. I received some criticism over the weekend for having made it clear to Otium in the past that were the decision mine and mine alone to make he'd have been banned in the past. Those who criticised me interpreted this as in indication of biased decision making when, in my view, it should have been seen as an indication of the opposite. My point is that if I had the sort of influence some folk think, Otium would have been banned about 2 years hence. So the fact is, I don't control the other admins. We keep each other in check. To summarise in response to your question, my being visible today is probably an accurate reflection of how we admins are. I'm more visible today, because I'm more visible almost all of the time apart from when I step away for my own mental health. But in this case there is a bit more of a focus - I'm trying to remain visible to answer reasonable challenges/questions because I understand people have had an emotional reaction and, seeing as I've been seen by some as part of an undefined problem, I'm wanting to be accountable approachable about this issue. When I saw that Otium's post had been reported and subsequently realised that Kenny and Rigdon had reached a consensus with profound implications, my instinct was to log out and come back in a week. But I think anyone who has seen my habits on here will realise that was a naïve thought on my part - I'm not one to hide away even when people make things extremely uncomfortable and personal. To be clear, I have not got my violin out. Most of the criticism that has been over the top has washed over me as both entirely laughable and entirely predictable. My conscience (I do have one) is clear and I applaud my fellow admins for making a difficult and courageous decision despite knowing there would inevitably be a huge fallout - it would have been very easy (and patronising to Oti, as well as inappropriate) to simply say "Oti is apparently nearing the end of his cancer battle, let's leave it" but I believe most people objectively reviewing the facts would agree that such consideration had already been given and been exhausted. Anyway, I'll probabkly be around for the rest of the day on and off should anyone have any rational questions to throw my way.

Ive just read through the Admin log and he has had two bans for describing Homosexuality as Deviant, Whilst i dont agree with him, He is entitled to that opinion, and the same opinion that is voiced by religions and governments around the world. Behaviour considered deviant by grandparents may be socially acceptable by grandchildren, and considered normal within another generation after that. Those generational divides are blurred and take longer to manifest in some families. Surely its better that his opinion is heard, challenged and educated, than to have his opinion heard and then censored. From reading Otiums posts, he still has views common with older generations, I have no idea how old he is, but change takes time, and is generational, you wouldn't censor your granddad, so you shouldnt censor someone else's. He was challenged about it more times than you've made up nonsense rumours. In fact, come to think of it, you've been challenged about your bullshit hundreds of times, yet you've not been educated and changed for the better because of it have you? I think in conclusion, what I'm really trying to say, is shut the fuck up. 139th post reported this year.

Given that this is a controversial topic and has absolutely nothing to do with our football club, would it not be a good idea to shift it over to the politics & current affairs section? I'd honestly rather see reference to NickHudd in the transfer rumours section. Why pollute the football bit with political stuff & infighting? We are discussing this as an admin team as we speak. I do think it should be moved, but we're also acutely aware that some people will almost definitely by cynical and accuse us of wanting to hide this way or some other power hungry nefarious motivation, so forgive us if we take a breath. I created this poll and its due to lock at 11pm tonight so please don't move it until after then. I created it on the main board as many people don't frequent the other boards and would have missed the chance to vote. Also it was previously agreed that non football related matters could be discussed on the main board during the close season.

The only notes on mine from my pre admin days probably sum up my strengths and weaknesses perfectly. Paraphrasing as I'm on my phone (and the admin panel only works on desktop access) but it basically says I reported someone for racism but then called them a racist prick so no action was taken as it was six of one.... Nowadays, I'd expect the other poster and me to both get some kind of action taken. Probably a yellow for them and a word in the ear for me

First line made me laugh - fair play! It's nothing to do with not tolerating opposing views, it's your unique brand of "discussion". You mock me for over-using (in your view!) the word "whataboutery", but you've turned it into an art-form. Not having a go, it's just ruddy exhausting after a while!

BDG …. I get your stance and your reluctance to stand down on it.
I don’t know Oti, I know he’s a Town fan, I know he’s had some/ got some spurious ideas about stuff.
From a personal point I’ve seen a lot of death and the best death is when you can articulate before you can’t anymore.
Cancer is a fine example, you can plan, that’s a good thing.
Let him post before he can’t anymore.
He’s probably scared but would never say it. I think it would mean a lot to him.
PS And if he doesn’t die any time soon we can all kick fuck out of him😊😊

Having read BDGs words I think I might have changed my mind. Reckon oti gave them very little choice.
Sad really that after being explicitly told not to use that kind of term that he chose to again.
On an aside note BDG. This reporting. Do folk get to find out they’ve been reported?? While I probably accept that there has to be some type of reporting ( imho only for direct aimed abuse) I would never ( and wouldn’t know how to) report anyone. As with most forms of social media I simply accept it’s very easy to type shite that you wouldn’t say to someone’s face.

The things that don't happen are that we don't tell people they've been the subject of a report if we don't take any action, and we don't respond to the reporter in any cases. Some posts get reported by more than one poster, very occasionally, but generally a reporter will know who they've reported and why, so if it appears on the action log they'll know we've acted. We could change this but in reality means a lot more work that could be a) tedious and b) upsetting to posters reported but "acquitted". Does that make sense?

I think one problem is.. and I think this happened to otium . If you get a ban the only way you know about it is to find out you are locked out. No reasons given . No chance for a discussion. No chance to action your account to see what rheadmins are saying. Some chancer pmed me with the express intention of getting me banned on Saturday. If i had been banned I would have had no opportunity to explain what had happened from my perspective. To confuse matters people often get the "you are banned " message due to a glitch in the system . When you aren't banned . So you are sat there wondering if you are banned or not and what have you done this time !!!

Given that he is in touch with some members here outside of DATM< I'm certain that if your main concern is to have a line of communication with him that can be arranged by you and those he is in touch with. The forum has 16000 members. Fewer than 200 of those members have voted in a poll that was never going to have any impact on the decision. If Otium wanted to keep posting, he was fully aware of a) the rules b) the consequences of breaking them and c) that expressing the view that homosexuality is deviant had already resulted in him getting a sanction. I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy. I watched my mum die from it and my wife battle it, among many I've known with it. But, as callous as it sounds, it's entirely irrelevant as even Ron himself said it should be.

Ignore it if you want, but it's legitimately gauging the views of the people that are the forum. You are NOT the forum.

Never thought I would be saying this but I think Oti should be reinstated. Don't know whether its the fault of covid making people do strange things or the polarisation of people on certain subjects. Politics has got its teeth into football and wont let go ultimately setting folk against folk starting with Brexit. The only thing that unites us is the football club and in normal walks of life lots of fans just wouldn't get on with each other but hostilities are put to one side in the name of the club and people chant the songs who you wouldnt get a note out of at a wedding etc unless drunk. The board has gone backward at a great rate of knots and ironically you could ban me and it would be a mercy. I would clean it up by having ONE board for football related matters only including transfer inactivity etc. Any posts outside football deleted. It maybe an idea to ask the fans what they want from the forum and then stick to the job in hand. The thought police are really taking over and so selective in what is and isnt acceptable. Someone gets banned then someone puts in a defence and is immediately told to Fuck Off, if it wernt for double standards there would be no standards at all.

I'm curious as to how someone PM's you with the intent of getting you banned?
