TBH I've no idea about the quality of the Irish league, although if Jake Carroll excelled there then that suggests to me that it's not the highest standard. Of course, even if the standard is truly dreadful (& I'm not saying it is) that doesn't mean Danny Grant isn't a good player. Jake Carroll definitely didn’t excel here. Trust me! Do we think us getting Burnley away hinders his chances of a debut in the cup?

An easier tie vs a lower division side & I would have advocated a side made up of a mixture of first teamers fringe players & youth. That might still happen, although our reserves getting battered by a PL side might seem less appealing than giving our first team a run out against a good side. The game vs Everton in the League Cup was a fillip for the side, and I suspect CC will put out a similar side to whoever plays in the league games either side of that fixture.

Is the Irish league really lower than the Conference 🤔 Hahaha, no chance. Could you see Boreham Wood taking Videoton to penalties and beating PAOK?! The League of Ireland is underrated by many. It’s probably similar to lower half League One in my opinion. Give over

Great to see some of our long term injured players now getting some match fitness in the B team. Grant could be our wildcard in the second half of the season, Rowe looked very good in a few games last season & we know Rhodes can be clinical in the 18 yard box, which is something we just don't have with Ward & Campbell.

Nothing to lose with this young lad. Most deffo should be given a chance with all the committment and hard work he has shown. Lets hope he stars for us and gets his own terrace song....

Chicken was impressed. Good read t.co/PcBmKcL5xFI asked Steve Chicken on Twitter whether he thought Grant is ready for the first team. He replied to the effect that it's always hard to tell with B team games, but he was the best player on the pitch yesterday.

I'm struggling to follow that. We'd hoped to spend the first half of this season developing him in the B team, but we haven't been able to do that due to injury - but now he's an option for the first team without having had that development?

Hmmm. He’s out straight said Rhodes is in squad so doesn’t look like Grant will be. Would love it though. Heavy Irish contingent would tune in on Sky sports!

Agree. I don’t follow that either. Maybe after coming back from injury he’s even better than they expected? Maybe. With a bit of luck he'll get an opportunity to show us what he can do when he comes off the bench 20 seconds before the final whistle when we're already 3-0 down at Bristol City.

Just curled one in to make it 3-0 against Birmingham from the B team in the premier league cup Good on him - great for his confidence Has to be on the bench Saturday Struggled to understand why he wasn’t last Saturday but I didn’t have us playing 6 defenders at the end in mind!
