Mel - it might be easier if you set up two different accounts. You seem to spend a lot of evenings writing posts on here and your own forum before spending a lot of mornings deleting and editing them. It must be exhausting.

Why should we end this thread ? Why can't we talk about the other board ? The other board spend half of their posts talking about this board. We shouldn't be policed about what we discuss. Unless it's in contravention of the rules which as a collective we agreed.

There are terms of service and community guidelines provided by Proboards readily available which I think are actually tighter than our current rules and there’s only what I’d call limited functionality within this free product offered by Proboards. I’ve tentatively looked and there maybe are other features available, plug-ins etc but not sure what they’d offer this discussion or what technical ability and effort is required to implement them. But without any solid proposed changes it’s difficult to gauge whether we can facilitate them or in fact there is appetite from everyone for it. If that makes sense? Hi RR, Firstly, if I had grievances with the admin of this site, as accused, I would PM an admin as per rules, but see below given your invitation & the provocation. Secondly, I started a poll on questioning the perception of rules because there was a hot debate, I was not invalved in - was ambivalent to, and there was obviously, to me, a need to dispassionately enable exchange of opinion in a constructive and considered way, which I thought would be through such a poll enabling debate of the issues & taking it away from the personalities. Perhaps, with the benefit of hindsight, that was a nieve wish? Thirdly, what resulted, not from my poll, but from the hot topic, was a despicable abusive mud slinging exercise by some who were clearly IMO being opportunistic, that also IMO there should have been no amnesty from - as we have to be responsible for what we post (although I did not agree with my yellow a while back & shared that with admin, I changed my posting style in adapting to the rules). The result, however, being that I do now have a disagreement with the implementation if the rules, regarding the amnesty and therefore the admin of this site. Fourthly, IMO the poll should be resurected on the main board with rules applied, insisting on adult debate, & a subsequent poll on selected topics for potential changing of the rules, if supported by users. Finally, I started my poll post, including preferences I had for rule changes that were barely related to the hot topic, I have more now given the experience of this whole sad affair, but will not add them here as I refuse to stoke the matter. I will give full details however, if it is now handled in an appropriate manner by someone from admin who respects the result of the poll & agrees with me that it would be best to follow through with a debate & decorum. |

I *honestly* hadn't thought of the full potential consequences before reading some of the follow-up, the link I shared was for a genuine reason as I've stated, to close down the spat that Otium was having with BDG...given I don't think Otium understands what his legal position he was trying to suggest with BDG is (I did actually flag up that BDG would instantly get any action dismissed with the 'honest opinion' statutory defence, given Otiums posting history). Some of the lunatics out there who reacted reminded me there are lunatics out there, and it wasn't fair to potentially expose BDG to them, even though the info was a 5 second click away given his real name is in his sig and he's published links to Gag N Bone Man stuff - so any actual lunatics don't need me to do their searching for them. Given less than 20 people had actually seen my post, I figured it'd be reet - although its a shame a couple of people kept quoting it to extend the time it was available. Thankfully El Mel followed up with the tidying up. But - none of that is relevant, as BDG posted (gone now?), there was a request to draw a line under things, and I for one have no intention of fanning any flames or antagonising things more than I inadvertently did do! Similarly, I don't see it as an us and them, I'll continue to post here following the rules (as I always have done, I've never received a yellow card), just as I'll continue to post at the other place whilst it remains interesting (and hopefully both places will start to pick up once the football is underway), along with a couple of other places I go for my Town gossip.
