My instant response would be Nicholls closly followed by Pearson. Nicholls for the confidence he gives to the back line and his obvious command of the box at all times, best keeper we have had for years. Matty Pearson epitomizes for me the center halfs of my yonger days, wears his heart on his sleeve, fearless enough to run through brick walls or opposition players and does not feck about in his own box, "if in doubt get it out" But I cannot do anything but applaud the whole team at the moment for their obvious commitment, desire to win and their plain to see delight in playing togther for the cause. Phil and the recruitment team have taken some deserved stick for the last couple of seasons but deserve nothing but plaudits for the way they have steered us through covid, brought in some brillaint additions to the squad and transformed a team of over paid dont give a fuck no hopers to a team that can at least challange the best teams this league has to offer. The team at the moment remind me very much of the 4th Div champions team created by Mick Buxton, a mix of new players many brought on for naff all who gelled and became a real team. Long way to go yet but so far I am enjoying watching the team again and looking forwards to matches without a sense of dread thats hung around the last three seasons.

Nicholls for me , I bet his nick name is Harvey. The 3 centre backs have also done really well at both ends of the pitch some decent recruitment in the summer.

It's a really difficult call to pick just one, I think my vote would probably go to Nicholls, I think he has just brought a different level of goalkeeping to the team. That being said, Lees, the Keighley Cannavaro,& Colwill have all made immediate, positive impacts.
The recruitment team should take a bow, as someone said earlier, they remind me of Buxton in the sense that they seem to do make better signings with little or no money. I've been very critical of them in the past & I'm really not sold on Holmes, Ward & Rhodes but it might be unfair to criticise them in the Premier league, as they would have been looking in markets that are totally unchartered territory for them.
Massive credit to Carlos though for shaping what is now, for the first time since promotion, a team that is obviously playing for the club & each other & also a lot of credit should go to Phil for showing no signs of panic & trusting CC. We might be premature in thinking everything is all hunky dory once more but the signs are very good, just by having a "team" back is big progress.

"Keighley Cannavaro" is some nickname. Really hope that sticks.

As has been said, its difficult to just pick one.
Nicholls has been great so far - he's given the rest of the team reassurance so they can concentrate on their game. We look organised this season. Colwill has the passing skills the modern game requires and doesn't play like an 18 year old playing his first games. Lees has been solid and dependable. People complaining when he signed was premature. Even if he just replaced Keogh or Stearman as an older head in the backline, he's still not even 32 yet. Pearson is an old school centre half but (as has been proven by him having the ball in the opposition net 5 times, including 2 disallowed) he carries a serious goal threat. Sinani gives us great delivery from a left foot. From struggling to deliver set pieces, we now have serious threat from both left and right feet, as evidenced in the number of set piece goals we have scored. I think Sinani will get better as he beds in more and his fitness improves (if that is why he is frequently subbed or not starting).
Odubeko is difficult to comment on as we have barely seen him. Hopefully he plays as his reputation suggests he will. Turton will only be a back up (possibly even 3rd choice when Pipa returns?) Haven't seen Ruffels to comment. I doubt he will be taking Toffolo's position though.
Thomas seems like a new signing. An absolutely fantastic one at that.
Rhodes hasn't been a goalscorer since about 2015. He has come to the club carrying an injury and won't get to a good enough level of fitness for Corberan's system before the end of the season, by which time he will be 32. Besides which, its not a style in which he has ever thrived. The worst of our signings this season IMO.

Goes to show what a competent, assured and dependable goalkeeper can do for a team. 4 clean sheets out of 7!!! Reminds me of when we replaced Tim Clarke with Franny, who was a very safe pair of hands. I'm hoping the coaching and recruitment staff took note of the Fulham game (and most of last season) and immediately begun searching for an older experienced backup GK for the bench. Should disaster strike and we needed to turn to Scofield, any momentum we had would be damaged and likely find ourselves back to where we were last season.

It would be interesting to see how Nicholls would have faired playing behind Keogh, Sarr and Stearman, flanked by Duhaney and Lewis O'Brien at full back. My thoughts are it wouldn't have made a great deal of difference.
