Building a house in the local area, potential return? Be good to have 2 keepers we can reasonably rely on. Would free up Schofield to go off for a year to get some confidence back.

If we continue our trend of resigning every available ex Town player, we could do worse. Jack Hunt anyone? ( we need a bastard!)

I can definitely see the argument for bringing in a keeper to allow Schofield to get some experience out on loan, whether it's going to be Smithies or not I have no idea but if anyone comes in they'll have to be on top of their game to displace Nicholls as No.1 because he's been excellent so far.

Smithies is still a good keeper. Only 31 so 7 years+ left in the tank if he avoids injury. Would be an interesting battle. He was linked with the Blades in the last window, so is probably available, and is out of contract at the end of the season. It all makes sense, so probably won't happen. There's also the Hoyle factor - maybe he'll only come if Dean is out of the picture (which is, it seems, a realistic possibility)

Confidence, or, more accurately, lack of confidence is a long way from being Schofield’s biggest issue. I don’t recall him ever showing any signs of all the positive attributes that Nicholls has brought to the party, other than his shot-stopping abilities. If he’s ever going to make a career as a pro footballer then he’s going to have to go out on loan somewhere that’s going to insists that he develops his all-round game and allows him to keep dropping almighty bollocks until it all finally clicks for him. If it ever will.

Totally agree with this. Out of the many improvements ( so far ) it is the calm confidence of Nicholls that has impressed me the most. Keepers need to have “presence “ he certainly has that.

No chance Alex is still very bitter towards town on how they sold him last time.

A friend of my mate's uncle saw Andy Booth buying a new pair of footy boots the other day.

No chance Alex is still very bitter towards town on how they sold him last time. As said above, if Dean was longer in the picture then those now working at the club had nothing to do with his sale?

Why is he bitter? What happened behind the scenes?
From memory he ended up on too much money for us to keep (which isn’t great management) but is there anything else that happened?

Don't know the guy personally but he can't be that bitter as he was at Wembley cheering Town on for the play off final in 2017.

Would take him back in a heartbeat, but I suspect he will go somewhere he will be a guaranteed number one week to week.

If he was bitter, and I don't know, I'd assume it's more likely to be against individuals associated with the Club at the time, rather that the Club as an entity.

Nick had a pop at me on Facebook the other day after he got his panties in a bunch because Football Focus on Saturday focused on women's football. I'm such a bastard.

I'm such a bastard. Just seen a piece on FB from Chicken about what the team may be for Saturday and whether CC'll rotate the internationals. Nicks posted that he hopes Hogg doesn't play and also liked a post from someone hoping we get rid of Scott High 🤨

Better than any striker we've currently got at the club, scored more goals last season than all our strikers combined. Boothy, Jeppo & Kindon have all been long retired, Nakhi is still playing championship football so shit examples.
