Pretty sure I read the other day Guardiola saying he won't be sending Delap anywhere, wants to keep him around the squad like they did with Foden. I think as an U23 he's allowed to train with them too...there's not many clubs who could reasonably offer him first team competitive match action and the opportunity of working with the Man City staff one or two days a week without totally blowing him out on travel etc. If he's now almost back from his injury, we should really be trying, the only real point of him staying I guess would be if he's expected to feature in an FA Cup campaign.

Plenty of value in League 1, especially throughout the teams in the top 6.
The obvious problem is that the best players in those teams will come at a premium price.
Whether we’ll pay those fees or not is another question.

Nothing to do with this window but Aaron Ramsdale’s mum was telling us that when he signed for Sheffield United he was actually ment to be signing for Town. But we messed around, took too long and they jumped in and nicked him. That's true Haggling over a couple of hundred grand I know you've been asked about this and ignored it already but, this isn't true is it? We weren't haggling over a couple of hundred grand for a 15 year old goalkeeper in 2013 at all. "Haggling over a couple of hundred grand" infers he went for more than that from Bolton, which he didn't.

Although we have Hogg and Vallejo returning, as we all know Vallejo has poppadom legs and Hogg will pick up an injury at some point. Vallejo is out of contract at the end of the season and I can see town releasing him and bringing in a more reliable CM with a better injury record. I can imagine these plans will be brought forward depending on our next two games.
If we win both the next two I can see Dean dipping into his pocket...
I'd also send Mipo back and try get another premiership loan in. I did read an article the other day stating premiership teams are more likely to keep youngsters in their squads due to Covid. With potential breakouts the youngsters might be asked to step in during the second half of the season.

I think the fact that we're unlikely do be fighting to survive or for promotion come the business end of the season makes it the perfect time to find some of the long term replacements we really need to look at. The three positions we need to address are a striker, a holding midfielder and a creative midfielder. If we bring these in, especially if we're looking at younger and/or lower league players with potential, the second half of the season is a great time to bed them in. We signed Grant in January and in the following season he was our stand out player. We signed Sorba in January - look at how he started this season. Bring them in, get them accustomed to our training, the other players we have etc and then next season they're ahead of the curve.

Slightly off on a tangent here, but we can't afford to slip away like we did in the 2nd half of last season.
We've 33 points compared to 31 points at this stage after 23 games last season, but went on to win just 3 of the next 23 games gaining just 18 more points.
Yes the squad was weaker and key injuries had an effect, but this squad is proving to be inconsistent too..ok while we've scored same number of goals as last year we've conceded 5 less ,and drawn 2 games which we lost last season.. i'd hope we can progress a bit now and that will indeed require at least two new additions ..midfield experience and a goalscorer (big man)...either loanees of purchases, doesn't matter. We're still weak at full back but otherwise we've seen enough of Holmes, Thomas,O'Brien, our back line and keeper to stay with them, but High, Turton, Sinani Ward/Campbell and even koroma have dosappointed for me. Carlos needs to find a better game plan that allows more of his players to play to their own attributes.

looking forward to the traditional meltdown when we end up signing a player from league 1/2/conference, who then turns out to be good

Loan to Bradford didn't do O'brien any harm!! , just loan the players out for a month at a time, or put in a callback clause, just in case we do end up injury ravaged like last season.

We won’t be signing a striker
Rhodes and Campbell to use up yet
Plus Harrett.
And Ward doing well enough for us not to spend money.
We need an attacking mid, a right back, and a young Hogg that’s better than High.
Maybe a winger
