He didn't really change from when I knew him (and his sister) at Colne Valley High School - the smile is still recognisable. I received this reply when I let my oldest mate from CVHS know the news about Aaron/Ron last night. "He was in my form….he would have the whole class in fits of laughter……because something had set him off laughing and he couldn’t stop. Many a board rubber was sent in his direction from teachers trying to control our class!!! Very sad to hear of his passing😔"

Absolutely brilliant photo's, and not in the least how I pictured him at all. For a start I didn't realise he was anywhere near as young as he was. Bit like reading a book and then finding out the guy they've got to play the film part is nothing like what you imagine! ( Reacher springs to mind.)

Does anyone have a younger photo (ideally 1980 ish) of Otium?
I've thought for some time he might be a lad I sort of knew from the Supporters club coaches back in the day (before I left Huddersfield).
In particular I spoke to this lad in January 1980 on a Friday night in Newport.
Not too many of us there that day.
RIP

Oh oti.... You’ve spirituality guided your beloved Huddersfield Town from your Cottage up there in the sky to a vital win at their Cottage on The banks of The Thames today - and what a send off result they’ve given you in return...
Huddersfield Town then... Huddersfield Town now... Huddersfield Town eternally...

I'm pretty sure Otium will already be partying up there with Marilyn Monroe on one arm, Grace Kelly on the other. Rest in Peace.

Love those pictures, definitely had a prize-winning smile of a man who was happy with his lot. We clashed so much but I would have definitely loved to have met him and listened to him over a pint or five. I'll miss him.
My deepest condolences to all those on here who knew the guy personally.
RIP Otium 🌹

Gutted to hear this but glad he will no longer be in pain, RIP Otium, best poster on DATM by far
Never met the great man but absolutely loved reading his posts and tales, most of which were likely true as confirmed by those who knew him
Sounds like a top bloke and town fan who certainly lived life to the full 💙🤍

Very sad to read this news of a bloke that I personally never met but who kept me (and many others I'm sure) royally entertained on this MB. I was never sure how much of what he wrote could be taken as gospel truth but what the heck it was bloody good fun and didn't cause any harm.
RIP

Otium was an absolute legend and may he RIP, a gentleman and the most knowledgeable Town fan I have ever met, I went to Krakow for the weekend a few years ago, we arranged to meet up…..I never spent a penny that weekend, a true legend and DATM is s far poorer place for his passing 💕x
