It is up to the individual but you can miss a lot of you leave early, there till the final whistle me!! Leaving early at the Cardiff game would have been a shame Remember a few year ago when my mum used to come to games as a season ticket holder from Blackpool as a 70yr old, she went to toilet v Watford 5 mins from end as normal, score was 1-1, came back to me and daughter, was 3-2 to Watford, never leave til the final whistle, that's my philosophy!!!

It's starting to get a bit out of hand? People left on 49 minutes last Saturday, despite us being 4th in the league. In my opinion, it's because over the years there's way too much footy on TV and the whole experience of 'being there' has become hugely devalued. In my 21 or so Huddersfield Town matches I’ve attended, I’ve never been in on time for every one (the huge novelty of booze in the concourse being one very good reason) ! However I’ve NEVER left before the end and hope I never have to - certainly no matter how badly Town play (and it was abject in ma last match v Middlesbrough) and not even when HTAFC lost to lowly Burton Albion did I leave until the John Smith’s stadium was nearly empty... I do realise some folks like to beat traffic jams and all that.. but leaving on 49 minutes ? Maybe on an evening kick off game in bygone days of yore some folks might have left on Forty Nine minutes to head to the dancing at Johnny’s in Town - They could’ve been known as The San Fran-Disco 49’ers ! The booze down here be too weak for you surely?!!.

As he arrived for the Peterborough game, virtually everyone around us took the mickey out of him.

He drinks more to compensate… HUGE difference in price in booze between Huddersfield and The West Island and it’s well worth two trips a year for the pub prices alone ! Best footy bar at home (the one I go to on a Saturday to watch the results coming in at) is £4.40 for a pint of Tennents Lager and £4.10 for a TWENTY FIVE ml of whisky - A good pub but utter robbery of the highest order... I could probably get a FIFTY ml of whisky in The Vulcan for that... The Olde Hatte good for Lager and whisky prices - in fact every pub in Huddy beats back home by far, by very far... I guess if I ever moved to Huddersfield it wouldn’t take long for Westie to be a near alcoholic at these awesome prices - brilliant Town with very decent prices and easily seen why the pubs seem to get a decent trade ! 🥃 🍺 🥃 £ ✅ 👍

there can be no better motivator for a team after it's played crap than to see the fans have beggared off to the pub early...if that doesn't prick their conscience and make them try harder next time I don't know what will. They gave up at Millwall and gave up at 0-3..so if they can pack up early despite their massive wages, why not the paying public ? Did they? How come we were still driving at their goal in the last minute? They struggled and didn't change tactics when they should have but I didn't see anyone give up. I agree. We seemed to give up against Millwall, however against Bournemouth we were 'just' outplayed (and tactically out thought) but the players kept going to the end.

To be fair someone had to keep going, Bournemouth were coasting to probably their easiest win of the season. If we hadn't at least made some effort it would have been reminiscent of the dreadful 'Yorkshire Yorkshire' game against Barnsley which sent Peterborough down where both sides were virtually sat on deckchairs in the centre circle for the last 20 minutes.

i used to sit next a bloke in the riverside lower, probably in his mid 80's. and he would leave early..not all the time, but often enough. i asked him one time and he explained that he came down on the train from newcastle, having caught an earlier train from somewhere or other to get to newcastle..and when he wasn't staying over in Huddersfield at his daughters he had to leave the game early to get the train home which meant walking to the station in time for his connection home.
So, not everything is as it seems - this guy was a genuine 'loyal' supporter who went the extra mile (literally) to support Town but some on here would see him leaving early and think there's another fickle, fair weather supporter..

With my last bus being at 10:30 would have to leave ground no later than 10:05, so if say there was a 8pm kick off in the prem with var now included may have to leave early.

The last 2 posts highlight why the phrase about walking a mile in my shoes is so important. We’re only talking about the minor misdemeanour of leaving the ground early of course, but that in itself makes it even more laughable that some folk get their knickers in a twist about this. Thanks for sharing that story Detox, it gives me a heartwarming image of that bloke still making such an effort in his 80’s…

To my knowledge it's not in the T&C's of having a SC or general entry to a game as to how many minutes you must stay. As long as they don't block my view loitering about then it's no business of mine if someone wants to leave early and I'd look an absolute cock pulling people up about it.

I see on the club website that HTAFC have made both the Luton Town match on Monday 11th April and the clash with QPR on Friday 15th April a very generous entry of £10 per match - this is very tempting for me as I could just make a week of it in Yorkshire and could spend the week going afternoons going to places like Hull and Rotherham (that I’ve not been to yet) and some smaller town’s and villages also and maybe some brewery tours as well !
If the Barnsley match on Saturday 23rd April is moved to some obscure time like Monday 25th April then that’ll probably clinch the week for Westie, but I’d need to fit in a Saturday and Sunday pub crawl of Huddersfield as well for the chat and the bands in the boozers and karaoke as well...
Not long now to see what sky do with The Barnsley match - midnight tomorrow night I think they’ll have to decide one way or the other !

People leave games for a host of reasons , to get to work , social events like birthdays , travel reasons , bored shitless of the game their watching etc. as it to do with anyone else especially people they don’t know and probably couldn’t give 2 shits about. Mind your own business it’s got nothing to do with you , if people want to leave early they will. It’s like keeping up with the Jones’s on here ( I’m staying till the end , so I expect everyone else too) . I often leave early because I work shifts and couldn’t give 2 shits if it bothers others , if the game is gone at half time I wish I’d often left early, good on people for sometimes thinking fuck it I’m off this is shit.

Your comment about going to Hull reminded me of the time that the year 11 Travel & Tourism class was taking place in the school library outside my office last year. You can't help ear wigging in to what's going on and what the kids are chatting about and I did have a little chuckle when the teacher taking the lesson asked one student - "why are you planning a holiday to Hull?" Some of our kids have never travelled anywhere and they'd probably just picked somewhere on the coast and thought that that would do for a holiday!

Some of our kids have never travelled anywhere and they'd probably just picked somewhere on the coast and thought that that would do for a holiday! The kids may have been familiar with the classic rock anthem about the journey to the East Riding metropolis, 'Highway to Hull.'
