He looks the type that could step up levels because of his strength along with his ability. If we were to go up, we wouldn’t need to spend silly money on a strong hold up man, we just need to find a cultured striker as a backup. You can definitely see this lad bringing our midfield into the game when it’s tough to get out.

I would also like to see him here but wouldn't he be a B Team signing at first? From what I've seen and heard I can't see him making an impact at Championship level this season.

IMO we probably could do with someone who can hit the ground running, or at least be ready to compete for a place by the time the World Cup finishes.

Naturally we'd have to give him a medical and if he failed, it's a no go.

Without knowing who else is on the radar though, I do know we've signed worse.

Rhodes doesn’t look like he is ageing badly and he’s the type of player who wouldn’t be affected by age because his best attribute has always been his football intelligence.

I would love us to sign Simpson because he probably offers something different… but I’m not concerned with Ward or Rhodes leading the line.

Phillips is not good enough for 3rd choice. Get someone in to replace Campbell.

He got outmuscled a lot today. Needs time to bulk out I think. 3rd striker definitely needed.

I remember when we 'invested' in Nahki Wells. We don't seem to have done that in a while for a striker. I genuinely think a class striker is the only thing we need to push us up to contenders again.

Invest in a younger striker who needs a season to get used to championship. Ward and Rhodes are fine at the moment but prob the last season of Rhodes. Use this season for back up and appearances off the bench.

So invest in this younger striker to be the out and out first choice next season

I would like to see us buy a young(ish) forward and bring him on. We have two old forwards who must me on the last year of their contract this year so we should be looking to the future and hopefully with an other eye on bringing the B team lads through.

If it’s correct that Boro think our asking price is too high then that doesn’t suggest we’re actively looking to move him on, maybe they made an enquiry and we put a high price on him because we want to keep him?

I can understand why you might think Simpson would be better, he seems to use his strength and body better. Simpson is really raw and I like his potential upside. Simms on the other hand, put up similar numbers to Simpson, Simms was in league 1 though at Blackpool.

Whereas Simpson has been loaned out by a League 1 club to the division below, so agree Simms would be a good option. To be honest, they both would probably offer us something a bit different and improve the squad.

He’s been shown, time and again, to do nothing more than peddle info from forums and twitter. There are far more credible sources out there. Including on here.

Kenny has already confirmed ‘slight interest’ 2hrs ago. It’s not hard to say that we we’ve shown interest in a striker. We will have shown interest and bid for a few. Including Morris.
