great signing, maybe a bit of fan faith reinstored?. Its a results business isn't it, so will largely depend on that. At least it will stop the inane 'we sold LOB and Toffolo and didnt reinvest ANY of the money' moaning...possibly. Nobody can really moan about the business done on the last day of window surely?.

We'd already spent more than last season BEFORE we paid out for MH. Don't get me wrong I was feeling as underwhelmed as anyone about our pre-season and transfer dealings but the people who said DH wasn't investing ANYTHING obviously failed maths at school

I really feel the key with Helik and mainly mbete (left sided cb)signing is that it enables yuta to play lwb instead of ruffels. The wing backs were vital to our success last season and ultimately ruffels is simply not up to it to be first choice.
Signing these two and freeing up yuta could be the game changer for us

Nobody can really moan about the business done on the last day of window surely?. In terms of the players acquired I doubt there can be any complaints. However the fact it happened on the last day of the window can surely be questioned. Perhaps if this had happened earlier (or in the case of one of the points even indicated it would happen) we would be going into the third calendar month of the season with a manager with more proven experience, in whom the majority of the supporter base appear to have more faith, with a much higher level of confidence and not facing the possibility of dropping to the foot of the table on Saturday. If anything, three acquisitions on the final day would appear to support the view of those who thought the squad appeared light .

I wonder how much was saved leaving this signing to the wire rather than wrapping it up at the begining of the window. I suspect Barnsley lost out on 50% of an expected fee.

Signing these two and freeing up yuta could be the game changer for us Yuta has showed quite a bit of flair, ability to pick a pass and beat a man. At the moment he’s doing it in our half and often on the edge of our box which is risky. He was beaten by Nakhi Wells to a header in our six yard box the other night. Would much prefer him to be breaking from left wing back, particularly as Ruffels has been a weak link.

Does this mean Hogg won't have to pretend he's Bobby Moore now I do hope so. Horses for courses, Hogg is an excellent holding midfield player for us. Thats it though, mark a runner, make a challenge, hold up the attack, give the ball to someone else asap, be the motivator for the team. Nothing against him but he is limited, like many footballers. Play to your strengths.

You see a player you want, but the selling club leave it until the last minute to agree the deal, either hoping they get offered more, or/and waiting until they themselves can get the replacement they want before going through with it. The lad from Barnsley could be a good example of that. Ive always found it odd how the transfer window doesnt shut just before the season starts though.

From what ive seen of Yuta so far he isn't strong enough in the air to be a centre back in this division really. Like you say other parts of his game look really good but thats a big weakness IMO. he just looks like a player who'll be better suited at left back/ left wing back to me and hopefully thats where we'll see him now. If youre playing that position for Japan then you must be pretty good at it you'd think.

Another fringe benefit of giving the World Cup to that powerhouse of world football…

Defence should be sorted but our missing midfield is left to ... Players getting their mojo back, or January.

Like you say if hes good enough at it for Japan he is certainly good enough for us. Get Helik/Mbete in and yuta lwb I think the results will follow. Personally I think this has far more importance to our success than a new striker.

I agree, Just hope Danny Schofield sees it that way too and so far Yuta has been used as a centre back out of necessity rather than design, what with Pearson out and REG and Boyle looking not that great so far..

If he only played LB for Japan that’s different for me as the former role requires much more of an engine and ability to beat a man and cross the ball. Hope he’s a great LWB but time will tell I suppose.

Took a decent attacking free kick (using Sorba as decoy) against Stoke I think.
