also, like when he was a player, can we just call him Fozzy? It rolls off the tongue better Would be easier to sing, not sure “Mark McKay Fotheringhams barmy army” is gonna work

That’s a link to the game he managed for Hertha, I’ve actually watched the second leg of the relegation playoff too all 5 goals from set pieces. He should fit in well!

To be honest, I never expected a big name manager or someone who’d excite the fan base. I did think we’d find someone who’s actually done the job they’re being hired to do though. This is a blank canvas, longterm project kind of appointment made mid-season in a relegation dogfight. The guy is clearly hot-heated, played for more clubs than I’ve had hot dinners, has never coached in the country or managed anywhere in the world. It’s a ludicrous appointment made by a board who are either brain dead or long past caring. But apart from that you're happy with the new manager?

Speaks volumes of how poor our budget must be; simple as that.

He did not have any background as such and was very keen on the players discipline. Clutching at straws I know but you never know time will tell I guess.

Let's be honest, it's a somewhat underwhelming appointment (it it happens) especially as on the surface, there seems to be more suitable candidates out there and 24 hours ago we were lining the streets in anticipation of DWs homecoming parade.
But that being said, if he comes, we back him and we don't doubt him unless he/the team gives us reason to.

Schofield just lacked confidence and presence. Felt a little like a lack of clarity for the players. Gut feel is this guy will not have that problem.
Will he be Sievert 2.0 or Mick Buxton 2.0 or something else, we will see.
Let's give him a chance.

About as uninspiring as it gets. The whole clubs needs something to get it going again and I don’t think this is it. I hope the fella knows what he’s doing because he needs to get a lot more out of this group of players than we’ve seen so far.
Good luck to him, he’s going to need it.

It’s been said before but it’s going to be down to the players. If the likes of Sorba and Tino respect this guy relegation shouldn’t be an issue.
If he comes in like Bertie Big Bollocks with nothing to back it up, we’re doomed and Chelsea and Man City will take their players in January and not send anymore.

Not bringing his own team in shows that this was the cheap option. The one thing I do actually like is that he seems more of a hard character which is probably what's needed at the moment. The fact we have gone for someone like that which is the opposite to Schofield makes me think there is discontent behind the scenes. I genuinely don't get Brombys interview last week though. Would he have had a team to bring, he hasn't been a head coach before

Personally I would have brought in an older head to keep as up and if they think this guy has big potential then bring him in to learn the ropes as a no.2.
Well we are where we are, so good luck to him as he is going to need a good start to win the fans over.

On the face of it this would be a nuts and totally off-the-wall appointment, particularly as the vast majority of fans have been crying out for an experienced supremo and one is what we need. Even if he turned out to be the next Alex Ferguson, it'd still be a massive, needless gamble with the club's future.

It’s underwhelming / uninspiring etc
Hoyle / Bromby only got themselves to blame if this doesn’t work out - Threw Schofield under bus. But then have had plenty time to work out plan B. Is this really it? This was chance to re-set, engage fans, inspire - certainly doesn’t do that immediately
Bromby only got himself to blame if fans are disappointed - releasing statement using Wagner phrases & praising him for 10 minutes in interview - knew he’d raise expectations. V naive to think otherwise. Bizarre
Likewise Bromby about saying key worked with successful coach - in last 10 years Magath has failed in his only spell in England at Fulham, worked in China and a recent short (successful) caretaker spell - 10 years ago when Magath was a top level manager Bromby was early 30s playing at Leeds.
Is he coming on his own - I find that even more bizarre if so, feels like he’s on a trial
Anyhow - as underwhelming as it is - can’t write the poor bloke off yet, that isn’t going to help & not sure how we can do. A poor playing career means nothing - plenty succeeded that way & plenty failed with much better playing careers, I don’t see relevance. Going to need fans support
He does however need a good start for everyone’s sake

As Town fans I’m sure we’ll get behind him even though we are all understandably concerned.
What I really am having trouble getting my head around is that surely this is not the time to experiment . The time for this was in the Summer - to give the coach time to get used to the surroundings and the players etc. To do this with the season underway and after one failed experiment already is hard to understand.

TBF he may well have been a good coach. Think when he first took over, we were sweeping teams away with some cracking football for that level. A great coach doesn't always mean a great manager though. The bingo machine for squad selection and his apparent inability to handle pressure were probably his greatest downfalls. Doesn't mean his coaching sessions weren't bright and inventive.
