Oh well good luck to him. Wish only the best for this club, feel extremely let down and disheartened with this recruitment but I will back him and hope for the best. My opinion of DH gets lower and lower. He said you can forget your fecking Xmas card this year as well. And he gets those at cost…

Generally thought we may of got a decent name, with good contacts who the players will respect. Even if we had to spend a bit (I know, I know). But this imposter?? Fuck me. Hope he’s a world beater but I’m more thinking this might be the first season I don’t bother going down at all

You have to wonder why it's taken two weeks to announce an out of work no mark coach? Guess it’s called an interview process.

Seem to remember Siewert rattling a few cages and alienating most of the squad. Exactly what i thought when i first heard his name. Every single player in our squad with have a better playing career than he did. He sounds like a right arse hole, not necessarily a bad thing for a manager but when you’re a 38 year old no one it worries me. I broadly get the strategy of signing young/promising (read: cheap) players with a view to developing and selling on. But why so for a manager? I'm sure we've all been in a job where someone younger has come in above us with bugger all on their CV and never got our respect. Is Hoyle damaged by Ternent? A Davy appointment, I seem to remember, but nevertheless the first manager he had?

This is up there with Jan siewert, Stan ternent and David hockaday.
An abysmal appointment that no fan will get on board with, the players will think what's the point and I bet by the Hull game they are already calling for him to be sacked.
Hoyle can piss off and take that posing wanker Bromby with him.

What is it you need to know?? It's common knowledge now isn't it? Fotheringham briefed the players today (not in person) on training and schedules etc and what about the lederhosen? "There is sauerkraut in my lederhosen"

I am personally excited to see how this appointment turns out, as I am every time we get a new manager in. I don't know whether we are getting another master stroke like Wagner or Carlos or another Siewert or Schofield but the unpredictability is half the fun. I actually enjoy watching a team where we genuinely dont know from season to season whats going to happen. Then you are definitely watching the right team

Sometimes I think some of our fans would be better off sat in with the opposition supporters…

He sounds like he works very much like Carlos, 100 mph and lives football.
But he certainly doesn’t sound like a yes man, in fact he sounds like he could get in a fight over owt. Typically angry Scot.

People keep talking about how we should have got a "name" but who are they and have they not failed anywhere else?
Whoever the new man was/is, his attitude and his plan are the most important thing. We've got to trust those (more qualified than us) that have spent some time with him and listened to him and felt if he has a presence about him that he's that right man for the job.
If he has a presence and a plan then he's got a chance whether he's called Mark Fotheringham or Pep Guardiola. Wanting him out or discarding him before he's even announced and given a chance is fucking embarrassing, he's in charge of our team so should have our full support, he's not coming here to try and fail it sounds like he's spent many years working towards this chance so we should give him one.

I am assuming the similarities we see are approach, personality & style based as I see very few similarities when comparing David Wagner's 2015 CV with MF. Wagner had played at the highest level for a consistent period of time, played for his country and won the UEFA cup. He then had 4-5 years coaching experience at one of elite European clubs working under Klopp so they are miles apart on that front. Wagner did not play at the highest level for any consistent period of time. He played a total of 31 times in the Bundesliga. Thirty One. Most of his two hundred and odd appearances were at second tier and below. Alright thanks for that. Is there anything you can add to the argument for MF having done literally anything more impressive than what DW had achieved when he took over in 2015?

I am not certain what the infatuation is with German Coaches but I think we all should be prepared to give him a chance. Some of the comments on here are just plain stupid why would DH want to drive the club back down to division 1 it’s just silly talk. The problem with most of the complainers on here is they have champagne ideas and Town have a Lemonade budget. Stop moaning a get behind him

It is a very risky appointment, but aren't they all? Until we hear him speak and see him on the touchline, it is hard to gauge why we have chosen him. All I will say is that Bromby's future hinges on this being successful, so he must have seen something in him that he thinks will work well.

Sometimes I think some of our fans would be better off sat in with the opposition supporters… Its only their positive mind set thats seeing them through these dark times..😉 I blame the change in the weather. When we get promoted they will want dozens of signings of 20 million euros plus foreigners, to show our ambition.?

Well it's been a surprise, but it has made me get tickets for Reading and Luton. I think we ought to give the new boss as much support as we can. Especially with our league position. If your gonna moan and groan, don't go and just watch it on your lap tops etc. I just hope he has that Midas touch and gets a good start. TTID

To be honest, I never expected a big name manager or someone who’d excite the fan base.
I did think we’d find someone who’s actually done the job they’re being hired to do though.
This is a blank canvas, longterm project kind of appointment made mid-season in a relegation dogfight.
The guy is clearly hot-heated, played for more clubs than I’ve had hot dinners, has never coached in the country or managed anywhere in the world.
It’s a ludicrous appointment made by a board who are either brain dead or long past caring.
