I’m surprised that Sean Jarvis doesn’t get much of a mention these days. In my opinion, he’s exactly the man we need, after the ownership issues are resolved. The perfect link between the Board and the supporters. I’m sure that he could restore some of the damage. I know he’s at Leicestershire but maybe could be persuaded to return? Sean won’t be coming back.

I don’t want any owner who’s going to be happy that we exist in the lower leagues with no ambition to get promoted.
Surely , however unrealistic, this is the main motivation of every football supporter.

IMO the Americans would want everything included, stadium, Canalside even the land around the ground. Americans usually think big the land around could be exploited for commercial purposes a bit like what HD1 promised. They will see a bigger picture than just the football club.

Love the difference of opinion in this thread without name calling. I was firmly in the AZ camp but having read some other thoughts I'm now not as sure. Seems to come down how risky you think the Americans are compared to the potential success. It's very typical of Town to have two options which are the total opposite. One thing you can guarantee is that 9 times out of 10 deano will make the wrong choice....

Just different ideas about how to get there.

So it's a choice of an owner from a country that understands and loves football or one that's from a country that's money obsessed and thinks netball, rounders and armoured rugby re better sports 🤔

What we gonna feed them? One Lewis O Brien every five years? Surely they’d be taken us over to try and rinse them he Premier League gravy train. Must be worth millions becoming a Norwich / Burnley. They'll feed us their youth, presumably. Except they won’t. The FA GBE process means we can only take established pro’s from outside the UK, moreso from a band 2 league like the Erividise. Any historic negative slant associated with being a feeder club to an overseas club doesn’t really apply post Brexit…wouldn’t be writing these off on the grounds that they aren’t billionaire Americans…they’ve taken over a club in dire straits and got it over achieving at the top of their ladder already, they know exactly what they’re doing.

If that's the case get the American's in because that isn't ambition. If it's to replicate AZ success fair enough. The Az model will be a pyramid, with us sat at the bottom. Be very wary, it’s not going to be town as a priority. As has already been said, we will become a feeder club. I don’t see Az having a plan for for us beyond the first and youth team. The American mob to me look far better suited to us and for us they’ll be a far greater fit. what makes you so certain it'll be a feeder club type structure? I can't think of any example of an English club that's part of these multi club ownership structures where it's treated squarely as the feeder club to a larger foreign team. The closest I can think of is Charlton a few years ago where the owner also owned Standard Liege, where he was hated as much as he was at Charlton. Watford and Udinese is definitely more of a symbiotic relationship. Beyond that I'm stumped and to why this has been posted so many times.

I'm not saying they don't want promotion I'm just saying don't assume it's the main motivation for all interested parties with us being in league one. The only way we'd be sustainable as a club is by developing players and selling them for good profit. Promotion is not essential for that. Low wage bills are more acceptable in league one. Reading between the lines. If AZ party were to take us over, we'd be steady eddies in league one. Model based around profiting from young players/developing some. Essentially what we've tried to do for the last decade. With some league one top half finishes, but being a sustainable football club. If we get promoted, then great. But sustainable model primary focus. or Risking it with a potential US Consortium. Maybe whom would have a bit more ambition, and attempt to run the club similar to a franchise club like US teams. But, maybe wanting and demanding a return on their investment. If that is the case (Unless i'm completely wrong in reading between the lines of course). We've tried option 1, hasn't really succeeded. Having lived in the states for 7+ years now. I know which one I'd be choosing. I want my football to be existing, BUT... I want us to aspire towards something. If winning didn't matter then why keep score? Why have leagues? Promotions, Relegations etc? Is it more expensive? Yes. Is the model based predominantly on making profit through all avenues (tickets, merchandise, F&B etc) therefore we become a consumer? Yes Football is changing, the top clubs in the prem will all be ran like US sport franchises within next decade, some already are. But, you don't see many broke sports teams. So US consortium for me. I appreciate the viewpoint, especially with the in country experience, but I’d be nervous with the US franchise type approach. If football is to become so homogenised then I’d have to think long and hard about continuing to support the club. I just feel that model has very little soul. I can only speak as a long distance observer, but I also think the bigger clubs in the PL are already half way down this road already. There’s probably a hard core at every club trying to keep the tribalism of the game, but the money is doing its best to suppress that side of the game. I’m not advocating going back to the 1970’s here, but wouldn’t want a game where the passion in the stands is sucked out and replaced by thousands of people attending for the experience as opposed to the teams out there on the pitch. I also think it would result in them pulling up the drawbridge to the PL, and as much as I dislike what that league stands for, what purpose would the Championship serve if you still had to end up in a bidding war to get promoted if you won the league? I guess we’ll all have to wait and see, but not sure that either of these options are going to suit all Town supporters. Hopefully not long to wait??

Do we want anyone taking over who is trying to run the club in a sustainable fashion and not lose millions? Its impossible to compete above L1 by doing that as far as Im aware? Even if you get to the PL and see success you're never going to be 'sustainable'. So surely we need an ego maniac billionaire who is in it for the glory? Football clubs don't make money these days sadly so you either need an owner to fund it or you're L1 or L2 club for ever and a day. Are there any examples of clubs in the top two tiers that actually make money, other than maybe some of the top 6? I'm no expert on football finance but I don't think sustainable is possible long term in the top two tiers nowadays? Players and agents just suck all the money out because they can.

Not technically linked to the thread name but I didn’t see one on the subject, but am I the only one who thinks the reaction to the transfer embargo is over the top? We aren’t currently in a window for one but secondly it’s for filing accounts late, like Burnley have. I’d imagine there’s fairly good reason the accounts been filed aren’t exactly the priority right now. As soon as we get them in it’s lifted.

We had a transfer embargo last season, or the season before (can't remember), due to late paperwork. No outrage. Burnley and Sheffield United are also under the embargo, I wonder if their fans are going berserk about it? People have seen a headline, put 2 + 2 together and got 37.

To be fair they did say “(big if)” But yeh deals sound like they require this pre pack admin otherwise drag on way too long trying to do a deal over the shares. So think need to accept its 12 points deduction and relegation. The pre pack element is cause for comfort as as far as iv read new owners pretty much take immediate control as soon as club placed in admin. So hopefully very little effect.

Same,I guess with everything else going on it doesn’t look good and media will try sensationalise it with headlines burying the facts a few paragraphs in,most won’t even bother to read any article just the headline. I just think judge things on merit not an accumulation.

But still only two wins and a draw off getting out of the drop zone. Teams have got out of much worse positions in the past. But that still involves at least 2 goals and three clean sheets. You'd get good odds for that happening across ALL the remaining games, let alone in just 3 of them.

Despite the 6 point margin and the arguments on whether this gap can be closed... I think some are missing the point, we are absolutely atrocious, no style of play, players whose confidence is in their boots, who cannot score and continually make mistakes. It's a chasm.

If their end game is to make money then the club who could get into the premier league would be the priority you would think.

I don't think it'd be a case of AZ being abandoned in favour of us, but I don't think it'd be this big exploitative grift either.

Shirts look crap without a sponsor, in my opinion. I'm the opposite. I'd never buy one with a sponsor's logo on it. Loved the sponsorless shirt, bought it twice and gave one to the eldest kid. A rarity to have and certainly for Town, who can’t afford to lose that kind of income.
