The main reason Qatar were the first Arab country to be awarded a World Cup is because they were the only ones who could guarantee (with the use of fully enclosed stadiums etc) that they could hold it during our summer months!

I notice head of FIFA Gianni Infantion doing his best to acsolve his regime of anything corrupt and money oriented, saying the west are Hypocrites etc etc, well he might have a point in some respects as some are, but it smacks of desperation to me.

I’ve seen knives and a man punch a horse. Why do we insist on making a major issue of everything from our glass house. When in Rome and all that, just go and use common sense.
I love the World Cup and all i’m really interested in is the football.

Re beer ban in the stadia, I have a beer about twice in a season at the JSS so I wouldn't even notice tbh. The point is it has gone back on what was agreed. First they come for your football, then they come for your bder. Next we will be forced to attend Throw a Queer competition at you local multi storey. Then Beat The Wife on BBC... Please stop supporting this madness. |

Am I reading it wrong or is he likening the Qatar's treatment of migrant workers and LGBT people to him being bullied at school for having ginger hair?

I think he was trying to say the Qatar was a warm, welcoming, democratic ,non corrupt, all welcome type of country whereas Europe was a horrible nasty place with no democracy.

On the back foot and will remain so until well after the tournament, if he'd just admit its about momey money money...and more money i would genuinely have more respect for him, wouldnt make it much better mind. |

Sounds like it, anyone called ginge, speccy, fatty, jug ears etc at school is the same as people being killed in large numbers becasue of dodgy practices on building sites in countries where you have very few rights. |

My sister is disabled, has restricted sight issues and generally listens to Town on the radio.
She was horrified that someone so high in FIFA could simply say "I feel disabled today". She sort of saw it as being totally disrespectful to anybody with disabilities. She says she will not now be wacthing the World Cup - seriously she is very angry by the comment.But she is still going to listen to Town so all is not lost!

In fairness to him there are millions who now consider themselves disabled and unable to live a 'full' life, whereas in reality they are not. He never actually mentioned his disability - be interested to know what it is to allow him to say what he said. I know what you are saying but I am not disabled so dont know (directly) what it is like but I would never make such a comment in public particularly as genuine disabled people may be watching/listening.

And so the greatest football show on earth ( NOT ) in my humble opinion kicks off ! - I’ll just be watching fleetingly after cursing a summer without football that needn’t and shouldn’t have been the case...
All I can say is hopefully the fans of every competing nation arrive and depart safely and have a good enjoyable time despite the booze prices being atrocious -
Tin hat on here from Scottish Terriers - but good luck to England and Wales and any other country that any global based Terriers may be supporting !
