Have there been some new regulations on added time? There's been loads of it in each game. And then weirdly, nearly nothing added for stoppages in added time. Having watched all the games so far, I think it's fair to say the officials have been told to add lots of time on, which is the best way to combat time wasting. Makes a nice change then. One of my real big bears is time wasting.

The option of up to five substitutions each, plus the game being stopped almost every time anyone goes down from a tackle means that it’s no longer a 90-minute game. 100+ minutes is now the new norm. I went to a game a few weeks ago with 21 minutes total additional time, and wasn’t the England game today something like 27 minutes extra?

I had projected 1-1 draw so no surprise. A bit surprising from people I know on this side of the Atlantic to see the extremely negative reactions. Expectations should be low due to the age of the squad and a backline that hasn't played much together. No clue why Wales didn't start Moore. No answer for him. Happy for Sorba. Shit substitutions for USA. I think Jesus Ferreira probably starts against England. He plays more as a #10/false 9 and that's the only way we'll get any possession (which, as you saw, is the obsession of the manager over productive attacking movements). 2-0 to England Friday. I'll be on a long car ride and unable to watch. If we get something for it I'll call it a match for the ages and if we lose it's the refs fault/Leeds fault for destroying a couple of our players.

I thought you were decent in the first half and were good value for your lead but my god, you looked so laboured and if truth be known absolutely shagged out in the 2nd half. Despite Wales' improvement in the second half if you had stepped it up a gear and used the ball better, with more pace you'd have won that. It's difficult to see you getting anything from England meaning the Iran game takes on huge significance. You could do with Iran beating Wales, Iran's goal difference has taken a hammering today which is to the US's benefit, as it a Wales win would almost certainly put you out leaving England needing to do you a big favour by hammering Wales and you beating Iran.

First half i thought to myself this USA team look handy, but Wales were terrible first half tbh, second half much improved and could have won.

Second mention for Huddersfield Town on BBC mainstream radio today then - I was coming home from the local car showroom in ma curtosay car after agreeing a sale that I’ll pick up on Wednesday all being well, and around 4.50pm on Radio 2 - (the subject must’ve been something like) - “Did you ever apply for a job that you knew you’d have not a hope in hell of getting” - and this person said they’d applied for the managers and assistant managers job at Huddersfield Town (when Danny Scholfield wea sacked I’d presume)... They did say they received a curtious reply from HTAFC declining them an interview ! Don’t know if anyone else from DATM heard this but I had a nice wee smile to myself listening to that and hearing Town mentioned on Radio 2 !

Whilst we had players in the 2018 World Cup, they were established internationals when we signed them, so it was particularly pleasing to see Sorba make his bow.

No sympathy at all. Just like the female Welsh journalist with her LGBTQ bowl hat. These people, are now doing it more for the attention than actually standing up for the people. It is obvious by wearing these colours you won't get in. They know this.

All for giving pens for holding, shirt tugging. Just need consistency.
But...Argentina get 'em, we don't!

Yeah definite penalty under the laws of the game but they need to be given consistently because they happen all the time and get missed or just get a talking to from the ref.

Shirt pulling/holding is one of my pet hates and I'd give a penalty every time and then eventually the perpetrators would stop doing it. It's the inconsistency of reffing/VAR that pisses many off. The one on Maguire yesterday was blatant.

I hope they do give a penalty every time this grappling in the box goes on. The problem is it’s only because of VAR that it’s given, the referee on the pitch didn’t spot it, and VAR is not used at all levels.
The referee and his linesmen need to see it and take responsibility for making the decision to penalise the offender, and not rely on VAR. Maybe then, we’ll see less of this nonsense at all levels.

I cant believe the referee didnt spot the rugby tackle on Maguire ( and Stones at the same time ). Could hardly have been any more blatant. he just didnt think that was a foul clearly...which sums up refereeing standards today as almost any physical contact outside the area he did see as a foul. The fact the idiot doing VAR didnt say to him.. you need to go look at that...but then did for a pretty minor shirt pull later on.. just , yet again, highlights what a farce VAR is. Was Tierney doing the VAR?

The yanks want to reign in the wild tackles or they'll be down to 10 men. I don't want to appear a pedantic dick or anything but it's actually 'rein in'. To 'reign' is to rule. Stan, reading this site makes me want to reply to SO many posts where they've used the wrong word. There/their/they're Of/have Whether/weather It's annoying sometimes and then I remember it's just a footy forum and let them get on with it

When you've got around 90% of the players all in the box at one time, I don't know how they can be expected to keep an eye on every coming-together when the ball is played in at such a fast pace. This is where VAR can really become valuable, and if players are getting penalised for it then it will eventually become less and less.

But this was just a private joke with Arty following a post he made earlier in the day correcting me for using 'Holland' instead of 'The Netherlands'.

I agree that this is one (the only one?) aspect of VAR that is good. The problem is VAR isn’t used at all levels, and you still have the inconsistencies in the decision making.
