Bromby gets a lot of stick on here ( some see him as enemy number 1 for reasons that totally escape me ) but whilst some havent worked out, hes made a lot of good signings IMO over the past couple of years taking into account the minimal budgets hes had to work with, and Rudoni is certainly another one. Dont think we will at all, but if we were selling him this summer I think we'd be tripling , maybe quadrupling our outlay on the player. This time next year he could be worth 10 times what we paid for him. I think he does get excessive stick he's the one people go after when Hoyle has already had a few days worth of shit (I agree with the majority of the shit thrown at Hoyle). To be fair to the man Bromby doesn't have a lot of money to play with and you can certainly pick out a few gems if you take a real look at his CV. I think he'll be gone after this season and we'll see what the next man brings to the table, agreed though he gets more shit thrown at him than he's earned.

I have it on very good authority that Dean Hoyle and his family absolutely despise Bromby; they regularly mock the fact that Leigh has recently started turning up at games with his own ‘security’; there’s a dilemma for you Slaps 😉 I am not saying this isn't true, but if Hoyle and his family despise him, why didn't Hoyle get rid when he had the power to do so? because it's a load of b*llocks

I think the stick comes from getting the major decisions wrong though, Manager being the most imperative one. Schofield and Fotheringham were decisions that could/could have cost us big time. Desperate need of a striker, we get Rhodes and Ward. There's certainly rumours of his ego being an issue as well. But there have been some gems as you say. DOF is in charge of every footballing decision at the club. If those decisions leave you bottom of the league than you've got to expect some flack.

But players wise, I think it would be a stretch to think someone else would have done better under the constrictions LB works under. We finished 3rd by the way after signing Ward and Rhodes!

Been a fan since day 1. Had pelters on numerous occasions. Likewise Me too - great player with huge potential. But if you make enough observations/comments, then you are sure to get one right eventually. It's just as much fun getting them wrong and also more likely.

We have to remember that he’s only 21, as are a few others in our squad.
I think this bodes well for the future.
I’ve no doubt that some will say he should be starting to mature as a player, but they’ll also cite the outliers in that argument, a young Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Jude Bellingham etc.
I wasn’t aware he was of Mexican descent either.

I don't want to derail this thread too much but if you look at LB's stats he signed 27 players in the 2 seasons between 2020-2022. By my reckoning (arguable I understand) 13 of those were "successful". Pipa, Ward, Sarr, Vallejo, Thomas, Eiting (1st time round), Lees, Pearson, Turton, Nichols, Russell, Sinani and Colwill. 21/22 season was his best ration with 8/13 being successful (IMO) 50% success rate for a DOF is abysmal IMO. This seasons "successes" I have as 5/17 signings. Some of which where done in January, not by LB. Rudoni, Vaclik, Nakayama, Helik and Kasumu. 12 signings that have not had any impact.... 12!!! If you think no-one else could have made better choices than Mahoney, Kambieri, Waghorn, Leutweiler, Pereira, Niasse, Sanago, Mipo, Boyle, Lowton, an injured Tino and Knockheart, and Jordan Smith then football is in trouble.

Vallejo?? Not buying that one as a success…..
Were Koroma and Ruffels part of LB recruitment……… Ruffels was gash as Toffolo’s understudy but looks a lot better this season.
Koroma is the kind of player that needs an arm around him and confidence, he looks great again now Warnock is managing.

Signing old Town players is best he can do! Ward had the season of his life and Rhodes played a bit part. I think anyone that had a bit more vision could and would have done better. Why if we are supposed to be following Brentford's model do we sign old past it players with no or very little sell on value. Look at the mess we got in to with a couple of striker signings, leaving the offers to the last minute and apparently could not get the Fax machine to work. The other offer, we could not handle the last minute negotiations and lost the deal.

I’m not going to post the link again, but there was a deadline day coverage of Chris Wilder when he was at the Blades. That short video highlighted what a shitshow the transfer window becomes in the last 48h. I’m not sure the rules serve that much of a purpose any more anyway. Clubs ignore FFP regs, and deals are obviously being pre-agreed outside of those windows anyway.

Rhodes , Holmes.. two more successful free transfer signings from the summer of 21.
Boyle.. signed as a back up centre back who would do a decent job if we need him to....and thats just what he did. Hes not an unsuccessful signing at all.
A lot on your list of bad signings are players who were just back up keepers or players who got injured and didnt feature, which you can hardly blame Bromby for surely?

I completely agree with you on Bromby and his player recruitment. Also lets not pretend it's all him, he's had a head of recruitment and scouts etc that will source the players, and Bromby and the head coach will have final say. But on the whole, for the budget he's had to play with, it has been good. But, yes, the 2 managerial appointments this season were catastrophic and should have cost us relegation. To appoint Fotheringham on a 3 year deal for very good money by all accounts was ridiculous. His only thinking there was that Schofield was a bit friendly with the players and he's found someone who's said he will be the complete opposite, who is young, and will be grateful for the opportunity. I gave Bromby the benefit of the doubt originally as I thought he was hampered by budget, but it's been said on here Fotheringham was one of the best paid people at the club and it cost 7 figures to sack him. Bromby chose Fotheringham over Carrick or Wagner. He should have fallen on his sword for that decision alone. Warnock said in a recent interview - a lot of these Directors of Football like employing young managers so they don't lose too much power/control. Very true...

Back to Rudoni. Warnock is playing him centrally. That, for me, is where he plays best. Having Koroma out left has allowed him to move inside. He really looks the part.
I said earlier in the season my favourite midfield is Rudoni, Camara & Kasumu. Energy and ability. Shame about Camara but you can’t argue with Warnocks results.

Personally I’ve not seen what everyone else sees in rudoni . I’m not doubting his hard work and attitude but it’s no coincidence that both his goals came from him being in the right place at the right time. Previously he’s been so frustrating in terms of being greedy, trying to run through a whole defence and shooting in terrible situations, but if he can just continue to simplify his game I think we might see this ‘goal scoring midfielder’ we were expecting

Agreed sorry wasn't thinking about the Schofield/MF managerial appointments. Fair enough Schofield was an error but then following that error up with Fozza is sackable in it own right. Rhodes and Ward were part of a squad that finished 3rd last season but I agree the legs have gone now. My main point is regarding player recruitment, working with the funds he has I don't think he's been bad. Accept your point about this season's managerial fiasco.

It is where he plays, who he has around him and the instructions given to him by the manager. None of them had played particularly well prior to Warnock, except for the odd game. The home game against Millwall stands out for me. Yuta's 'wonder goal' was the only goal on the day but we played well. It was one of very few. They all know their job now and the team is kept pretty unchanged. Very hard to judge under previous managers this year.

Don't know if it has been mentioned on here but Jack is on course to be the first outfield player to appear in every game (including Cup games) since Nathan Clarke in 2005-06 and only the second since Simon Charlton played all 61 games in 1992-93. Alex Smithies was the last of any player to do it in 2013-14. * Just to add to that, Zanka and Lossl did play all 38 leagues games in 2017-18 but didn't play in all the cup games that season. That's some hthp level knowledge there mate
