Not only is Helik our best defender, he's also our most consistent performer in the whole team. Helik v Lees defensive stats this season. Successful tackles per game. Helik 1.2. Lees 0.7. Interceptions Helik 1.9. Lees 1. Blocks Helik 1.4. Lees 0.8. Aerial duels won Helik 3.5. Lees 3.2. Whoscored has him down as comfortably our highest rated overall player with 5 MotM awards. Top player is Helik. Whilst there are some good stats here, you are comparing 2 different positions. As I have said previously, centre of a 3 is very different to wide of a 3. In the middle you have much more freedom as you have 2 either side to cover back. You can run out, be more erratic, and have less responsibility. At wide centre half you find yourself 1 on 1 a lot. When you compare to Lees last year in the middle it is quite different. Lees won more ground and aerial duels, for example. Look at how much better Sarr looked when he was in the middle compared to the left, and the same with Lees this year to last. The score stats is, IMO, total rubbish. For example, Scott High was down as our best performer last week on one model, Rhodes on another. High was awful, Rhodes anonymous. I asked Porrohman to watch the recent goals focusing on Helik. Here are my thoughts. Coventry 1st, Watford 1st and Luton 2nd - very odd decisions trying to block shots. He seems to jump out of the way of the latter 2 and the first he does a 360 for no reason allowing the man to get free for a shot, whilst also making no attempt at a block of the shot. Watford 2nd he either misreads it or is too slow to react. He's the free man to attack the ball and ends up well behind it almost ducking down to head it. He should be running towards the ball to attack it and I think he gets to the ball first if so. At worst he challenges the scorer. Hull he misreads the ball as it goes over him and is too slow to turn and try and recover. Even the Preston goal (league) he makes an odd movement, he just runs out into the middle of the box despite being nowhere near the ball. He couldn't have done anything to prevent the goal, but I don't understand what he's trying to achieve in general. Coventry 2nd he never looks round once to see what is behind him. Just seems a lack of appreciation of the danger around - though not alone here. As I said before I am in no way saying he is totally at fault for any of these (Hull aside which I believe was mainly his fault followed by a good finish). However, as per my initial thought, I think that these goals help to show that he isn't performing well enough to warrant both Pearson and Lees being out of their preferred positions (RCB and CB). If he is as good as others believe, he should be fine playing LCB and allowing those 2 back into the positions that they played so well in last year. I think he will have a much harder time of it there, though. It always amazes me when I read these stats. Less than 2 tackles per game, less than 2 blocks per game etc. What the hell do they do in the rest of the game? Get some chuffin work done.

This is it now really. Today needs to be the start of a run of points to push us out the bottom 3. We need to be heading in to the Bristol City game at home clear of the shit pile. I understand the CL will be vocal with their thoughts about the running of the club today. I’m all for it as long as from kick off to 90 minutes it’s focused on backing the lads to win the game.

If I were picking the team I'd go with
Vaclik
Jackson Pearson Helik Lowton
Hogg Kasumu Rudoni
Knockaert Rhodes Hungbo
See how the new wingers get on because we need to find something different in the final third. I'd have Kasumu in midfield over Camara just for his legs in their with Rudoni playing no.10.

Very simple - must win
First home game in ages
Opposition sinking down the league & facing an injury crisis
Perfect chance to start to right a lot of wrongs

Sensible head on. Got to hope Fotheringham picks the right team today with plenty of attacking options, no setting up for 0-0/1-0 followed by 9 men behind the ball defending a slender lead, the fans want to be entertained. The crowd will be what the crowd will be. If we see some attempt at attacking football, we’ll get behind the team, otherwise there’ll be moans and groans and rightly so. I get the dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs but I wouldn’t want any fan protest transferring onto the pitch this afternoon, better left til post match. I’ll say it again but if the team - delivered by Fotheringham - serve up a similar display to Coventry away, he’ll deserve a rough ride this afternoon. Will be an interesting few hours for sure.

Big game.
Slightly bemusing comment from MF re Camara. Our captain is back so we don’t need him. I never saw them in the same roles if I’m honest.
High, Ruffels & Holmes cannot start surely ?

If he starts with 5 at the back and High in midfield, hoping to keep it tight and nick a goal, Fotheringham needs to be relieved of his duties before the game.

I'll be watching at home with the option to turn it off if it's shite. Totally lost interest, and I don't blame the current predicament either, I blame "the pandemic". I just didn't miss it as much as I thought during that time. I'll dip in/out as and when I feel like it. I still and always will love Town, I just don't have the same passion I've had for the past 40 years. UTT

I think I've become as detached from the club as I have in over 20 years. I'm planning to turn up tomorrow and I can't remember the last one I was at, possibly as far back as last October. If I hadn't checked on here first I wouldn't have had any idea who we were playing either. Too many other priorities at the moment. Hoping for a good performance and a win obviously but last few highlights I've watched didn't show much improvement and I'm yet to be convinced by Fotheringham but I'm hardly alone in that regard. Will be interesting to gauge the atmosphere and the genuine turnout on the day rather than official figures which always count no-show SC holders. Me too, I'm supposed to be going looking for a car with my daughter tomorrow morning, I've already said it's ok if time runs on and I miss the game. On a serious note Porroh if you live in Hudds Halifax Keighley or Bradford I can recommend Colin Appleyard Suzuki. These cars consistantly get in the top 5 for reliability and I can vouch for the build quality of the newer models,I have just traded in Swift sport Hybrid{Little rocket ship} for a Vitara SZ5 Hybrid as I needed a larger car,It has everything you need including electric sunroof,2018 Swifts are a good buy.

No loss of interest for me. I’m looking forward to the game - just as I always have done. New players, crucial game and not been for a month! How can you judge the team, the performance, the mood around the ground etc if you don’t go?
Can’t wait.

Looking forward to this one, as win or lose (hopefully win) I think it will have positive ramifications for us in the long run of this season. Hope they have been working on some patterns of play going forwards as I haven’t seen any at all in recent weeks. Hopefully Holmes has another very good individual home display. 2-1 town.

I'd have Kasumu in midfield over Camara just for his legs in their with Rudoni playing no.10. I like your team but I suspect Knockaert will only be an option from the bench, due to lack of fitness, so I'd move Rudoni forward & replace him in midfield with Camara.

I agree we need something different but I think it would be easier for a CB to play 60/70 mins than an attacking creative player. I also think Knockaert could be more effective in the last 20 mins against a tiring defence. Whoever he picks, we have to be more attack minded from the start, we cannot afford to have 7 defensive players with a big gap between 3 attacking players. For once, let's look to take charge of the game from the ko.

QPR team from 1970's just been on BMR, I went to the night match when they were top of the league (Div 2) a year or two earlier & we went toe to toe with them in a 2-2 draw, some of the names on show that night included Parkes, Venables, Francis, Givens, Thomas, Bowles.etc.........Pity bottom team Brighton did the double on us & sent us down.
