Some ‘people’ doesn’t make a majority however, no matter how many people you see. As upthetown says, it’s not a representative sample. On the point. I agree the board wanted Chico to win but I know they never once considered him full time to the end of the season or otherwise. He would have only been given the role until they could find someone willing; if that had have taken until the end of the season, it’s not because they planned for it. The procurement of Reina was simply just to give Chico some support. We’d not just lost a head coach, we also lost Miller and Chico’s job was / is big enough already without having to cover multiple roles. Hence the rolling contact and not a commitment to a permanent contract to back Chico as a dedicated solution. Well thank God he didn't get it. And thank god the circles of folk you see on social media don’t have a vote….

to be fair Chicho will not get the job long term. It would be a worse appointment than that of Schofield IMO.
At least now we have a gaffer in (until the end of the season) who will give us a chance. That is all we can ask at the moment.

I don’t believe this for a minute. They hoped Chicho would win, obviously, but I believe they were always looking for a manager until the end of the season to come in. It was obvious they, and a large amount of the fans, wanted him to have the job. Do you take tablets for always being right? I bet you’re a right barrel of laughs in a debate… Huddersfield’s angry Frank… 😉

I dont think they ever had any intention of appointing pelach. Discussions with Warnock ( and maybe others too ) will have started well before that wigan game. As for the new Spanish coach, suppose if they think he has something good to offer then he'll probably stay until the summer, maybe longer. Hes a fitness guy isnt he? They shouldn't really have a future here anyway after the end of the season. I'm always of the opinion that a new manager should bring in his own staff in. Don't understand this instience with Town of keeping assistant managers, and valuing them more than the manager at times. Strange. Town keep talking about consistency.. see Schofield appointment. Then Schofield changes how we play 🙈🙉

I still maintain that the Players have had it easy and somehow managed to be largely devoid of any responsibility on here whilst seeing off two Managers.

Surely this is an appointment we can all support even if it doesn't work out. Well done Dean! This won't be popular with some but as much as I welcome Neil's return to Town I am afraid it is entirely as a result of more poor planning and thinking. This appointment will cost the club money, just as the firing of DS and MF will have cost something. How much over the budget that was set in July 22? Whatever it is it shows a lack of thought, a lack of a clear plan and the failure to have an alignment to an identity. Why do I make this point? Because some argue vehemently that people just expect money to be thrown at any problem (on the pitch). What has happened this season is example of many people's reasonable frustration at our plans, or lack of them, and ability to waste money. I have never been an advocate of throwing money willy-nilly at things but another series of costly blunders make those who defend those responsible look a bit ridiculous. I do accept there will be a change and this latest, desperate?, decision is done with the best intentions of trying to maintain Town's Championship status. If it is successful everyone will be justifiably happy/relieved. I hope Neil is the catalyst we need and we can hopefully look forward to a transition of ownership as a Championship club. Where I will give DH credit is it is clearly, well to me at least, his personal relationship with Neil that has enabled this appointment. I doubt Neil would have solely taken the job for cash. Good luck Neil. Here's hoping you do put smiles on faces and we are all able smile come May.

Just because something hasnt worked, doesnt mean it wasnt a clear plan or there was a lack of thought behind it!! When do you imagine football became this thing that if you plan something and think about it enough, it is then guaranteed to work?? We have a budget and like any club ,or business in general, you make plans within the restrictions of that budget, even if some fans constantly demand more money being put in. If the plans fail, you do what you can , perhaps outside that budget if thats possible, to try and rectify it. And yeah it is a waste of money... making mistakes in business generally is.

They need to get the fella (Simon Normington?) in who did the mid 90s season reviews in to do a video of this til the end of the season. A New Beginning still sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.
I've 100% fallen out of love with watching live football since our promotion season but this appointment has got me thinking about it again.

How many people said straight away that the Schofield appointment wouldn't work out? We pretty much all knew it, didn't we? It was too soon and it was a terrible plan following the success of 2022. That isn't hindsight, it was more logic than anything. Logic that was proved to be correct. Then Fotheringham. Again, the immediate consensus was that it was another terrible appointment at a time when we could ill afford one. Of course Dean didn't plan for it to go this way, but it's how it's ended up due to the clubs terrible plan of going cheap as chips. Again, by applying basic logic you can tell exactly how that approach will eventually work out, and here we are!

I've criticised the club for the CC saga but you are right we don't know the full story and likely never will. I too think he was tapped up before the final and was always leaving if we failed to get promotion. Hoyle has made a fair few gaffs but I believe CC would have been given a bigger budget than what was eventually spent, think by the time it was all revealed it was too late. I do think the club should have taken their time and brought in a much more experienced manager than Schofield. Think he was thrown in at the deep end and what happened was inevitable. Anyway we've got Warnock in now things will be different let's just get behind them all and put up a fight.

Should have been given a new contract as a reward of getting us to Wembley. If the idea was to try and slash the budget then surely keeping hold of your main asset that can work with budget friendly players was the key to that idea.

I’ve said it before in other threads - Warnocks teams have outplayed us several times. I think the notion that his teams don’t play decent football (albeit pragmatic), is total nonsense. Warnock was deploying Bielsa/Corboran season 1 esque cross pitch man marking in his last job at Boro, so he's certainly capable of moving with the times. I don't think he'll do that here but I also don't think we'll be playing a 90s Warnock 442 either. He might not wear a pair of chinos and hold a clipboard but he’s never been a dinosaur when it comes to setting his teams up.
