The more and more I think about this appointment, I can’t help but think Warnock must have really fancied it. Would he really want to come out of retirement and add a relegation to the bottom of his CV? Hardly like Town will have been paying him big bucks as well in the current situation, so he must really believe he can do it. Doubt he’d ruin the legacy if not!

If Warnock can't get us going and keep us up, then it's fair to say nobody can. I do think we already have some Warnock-style players in the ranks, and that's a starting point. And he's shown he can get the best out of flair players in more recent years. We aren't going to be pretty. We're not going to be a side you'd pay money to see get it down and pass our way to safety. But we're going to be utterly horrible to play against. We've been far too nice for far too long. About time we got a nasty streak. I’ve said it before in other threads - Warnocks teams have outplayed us several times. I think the notion that his teams don’t play decent football (albeit pragmatic), is total nonsense.

Apart from getting Scarborough, Notts County, Town, Plymouth, Sheffield United, QPR and Cardiff promoted, he's also managed to help Torquay, Rotherham, Cardiff and Middlesbrough avoid relegation. Aside from that, he led Town to two Wembley finals in a year, including our first Wembley appearances since 1938 and also won the Yorkshire Electricity Cup in 1994. He led Notts County to the First Division! He has four relegations on his CV, Notts County from Division One in 1992, Bury from the second tier in 1999, Sheffield United from the Premier League in 2007 and Cardiff from the Premier League in 2019. Was that Sheff utd relegation the one where it was a total scandal, money talks, Tevez bollocks, if so, I would not count that against anyone, totally disgusting. (Unless it had relegated L**ds or Sadford, obviously.)

I'm one of the first to moan when things don't go right so have to praise those leading the club for this one. I think it's the best possible appointment given the situation we're in. Must have taken quite bit of persuasion and money to bring NW out of retirement. Still think he has a huge job on to keep us up but he'll forever be a hero if he achieves it. Not sure about praising them tbh, the total and utter shit show they've managed to create has just been confirmed by this desperate appointment. It's totally the opposite direction the club was supposed to be going in and an admittance that they've ballsed it up. Yes it's the right appointment considering the mess they've created at this club...Let's hope it's not too late, and lessons have been learned.

What will happen with the Spanish assistant we brought in a few days ago out of interest? Pretty obvious they banked on Pelach winning the Wigan match so they could appoint him full-time. However, when we lost in the fashion we did, the Orcus in the boardroom will have panicked and thought "shit, we're in trouble".

Tbf the Yorkshire Electricity Cup win is, by far, his greatest footballing achievement 👏👏👏😁 Niche 👌🏻. Bet Man City have never won it. It was just a fancy name for the West Riding Cup.

They were also shafted at Cardiff in a game against Chelsea with a blatant offside and a Chelsea player not being sent off despite being the last man. I think they went down by a couple of points.

I don’t feel like a large amount of fans wanted him to have the job. I believe they were only ever looking at Chicho as a stop gap until they got someone until the end of the season.

🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 🥃 !!!!! 👍 👍 Starting early Westie! Aye used to hear that one about the older boozers here before juke boxes were installed Kenny ! Great film is is Whisky Galore, thought they’d have filmed it on Islay with it being ‘The Whisky Isle’ but I think they made it up in Barra and / or Eriskey... The one they made here was The Maggie, a truly fantastic old type comedy movie with a pure fab storyline and you can see the pier in ma old village and looking up from the pier in ma current one to make it look like the one street - I’m not usually a film or movie buff, but these are about the only two I’ve ever watched from end to end but it was well worth the attention span of doing it... I’d highly recommend both to any Town fans that have never seen them (probably just biased to The Maggie as a huge chunk of it was filmed here) but great storylines and according to ma late wee gran a very true picture of Island life back in 1954 ! I wonder if Neil Warnock and his missus have ever seen Whisky Galore and The Maggie !

Apparently we interviewed MUSCAT at the same time! He would be a great appointment in the offseason. Hearing that he was interview along with the appointment of Warnock, it means to me we were looking in the right places(finally).

I don't think he'll do that here but I also don't think we'll be playing a 90s Warnock 442 either.

Discussions with Warnock ( and maybe others too ) will have started well before that wigan game. As for the new Spanish coach, suppose if they think he has something good to offer then he'll probably stay until the summer, maybe longer. Hes a fitness guy isnt he?

Also putting my head above the parapet, I agree with this. If he keeps us up then fair dos, but his two best qualities (from reading this thread) seem to be "wont take any shit" and great at handing out bollockings. Getting the team to play winning football might also be useful, and if he does that i will be delighted to eat humble pie, but as returning players never seem to be as good second time around it will be interesting to see how this works out. UTT All this handing out bollockings stuff will be the exception rather than to rule. They get played because they make great videos, but I’d wager he spends way more of his time putting his arms around players to get the absolute best out of them. Look at what he did with Taraabt at QPR. He’s the kind of character that you want to play for, you don’t have his record by just shouting and balling at players. I don’t actually think these players need a bollocking, their confidence is shot to pieces and I’m certain that Warnock will focus on injecting some confidence and belief back into them, and bring some fun back into our games (like attacking, for example!). He’s a proven man manager and motivator and that’s exactly what we need. If someone with Warnocks record can’t get anything out of this squad then nobody will. Exactly and its a massive shame Thomas isn't still here, I'm sure he'd have brought the absolute best out of him and used his set pieces to their full potential.

They shouldn't really have a future here anyway after the end of the season. I'm always of the opinion that a new manager should bring in his own staff in. Don't understand this instience with Town of keeping assistant managers, and valuing them more than the manager at times. Strange.

Horses for courses and the football he played when getting promotion with Town was superb to watch, may have been long at times but like he correctly says there was some nice football played in the oppositions half. All done with a team featuring bang average players with limited technical abilities.

I must admit I don’t tend to bother with Twitter… and even when someone links to Twitter I tend to take it with a pinch of salt and assume it’s not really representative. It was the same when Hefele was still here, people begging for him to get the job. It's a good job the club don't take any notice. Some ‘people’ doesn’t make a majority however, no matter how many people you see. As upthetown says, it’s not a representative sample. On the point. I agree the board wanted Chico to win but I know they never once considered him full time to the end of the season or otherwise. He would have only been given the role until they could find someone willing; if that had have taken until the end of the season, it’s not because they planned for it. The procurement of Reina was simply just to give Chico some support. We’d not just lost a head coach, we also lost Miller and Chico’s job was / is big enough already without having to cover multiple roles. Hence the rolling contact and not a commitment to a permanent contract to back Chico as a dedicated solution.
