We're they in the centre or a mile out with nothing else there except a stadium that's only used about 50 times a year? Dotted around what you would say is the centre but there is nothing like this in town I know it's not quite as far but hotshots was generally busy until they closed the bowling and let it run down. The cinema is down there n people travel there walking from town it's not like the stadium is in Marsden. Could get the cable cars we thought we were getting 😜 A cinema that will die more than cinema's already have when the Kingsgate one opens - especially to walking customers.

It isn't very hard to be better than Huddersfield Town centre these days. It is horrible, dirty and some of the people you see walking about is on another level.... Whilst I agree that Huddersfield town centre is a shithole.. Have you ever been to hull?? Feck me.. the area around the university.. I drove through one morning not long ago.. Reminded me of the scene from Shaun of the dead.. #zombiespocalypse 🍻🍻

Agree it will but the buildings will still be there who owns it, what will it become, the ropewalk looks an eyesore now if cinema shuts what then. the whole area around the ground needs addressing this is where I think Nagle will make his mark and money going forward. Have various sports/entertainment connected to the stadium environs Like I say sports bars ,could get E karting , ice skating, etc something we don't have that others may but you have to travel to I'm sure there are things unique in the states that could be tried. It's all ideas and things I think could work if done properly. But firstly I want to see a good competitive town on the pitch.

Interview with Jake Edwards
Interesting that he keeps calling it the incoming ownership 'group'
Wonder who the rest of the consortium are?

It isn't, this is Hoyle's doing according to NW & JE. When did they say that? In the interview.

What’s so different / great about them? The one in Leeds is no different to any other, including the Odeon (in my opinion of course). Not like it’s an ‘Everyman’.

Funny you should say that about cinemas etc. I have spoken to 2 guys through working for them in the last month with kids aged 6 and 9 ,one girl, one boy. Both have been to watch Town in last 12 months through school type promotions and both want Town Season Tickets for their birthdays. Seems perhaps live entertainment is on its way back!

Good to see the amount of Huddersfield town centre bashing on here.
We may be 2nd Division in Football but as is always the case we are top of the Premier League in bashing the town. I'm 53 and people have always moaned about Huddersfield.
It's funny when people moan about the town centre that they forget that 30 years ago it was really dog shit. No cinema for a while, no theatre, decaying football stadium, fewer pubs and cafes than now, not even a decent bookshop. At least we had Greenhead Park to get mugged in.
Yes there were more shops but like most towns the internet is killing them off. Even Oxford Street in London is struggling these days.

Slightly off topic but clearly those bashing the Town Centre clearly need to visit West Bromwich, Hull, Luton. Bradford etc etc. Also pay it a visit rather than buy everything on line!

In another 30 years, we’ll look back and reflect that it’s shit in comparison to what it will be. It ain’t about quantity, it’s quality. And there’s a lack of it in the Town. Some decent boozers dotted about, granted. But the quality of shops is pants. You ain’t taking your Mrs (Mr, whatever) to the town centre for a day out, are you. Because unless you’re going to get pissed up, there’s fuck all to do. But it can’t compete with Leeds and Manc, never has been able to, and that’s fine. Id rather go there for culture rather go to the LB theatre to watch some low budget bollocks. That’s what some people like and want. So be it. But let’s not kid ourselves on that Hudds is some some sort of metropolitan heartbeat now. It’s just facts. The economics say as much.

But what about Henley and Marlow. Sandbanks, Lemington, St Ives and Harrogate? People who think Hudds is great clearly hasn’t visited those… Catch-22 re shopping though ain’t it. Shit shops = don’t visit. Don’t visit = shit shops. There’s gotta be a stimulus. But if you don’t wanna sup and/or shop, what you gonna do?

Where has anybody said Huddersfield is great? The shopping will never be as good as Manchester. Never has been. So perhaps a entertainment venue. Centre of north of England and relatively easy to get to. I am sure the Muse concert at the Stadium on Tuesday will give the Town a much needed boost.

Edwards comment 'there will be a massive Town fan base in the US soon' was quite exciting. Already a large number of Town shirts popping up at matches etc. Mentioned seen some town shirts at the Tampa Rowdies game, forgot to mention our very own Jon Stead is assistant coach at Tampa. So could explain why there is some town jerseys at the game.
