The Admin team have decided to make a change to the forum rules. Do not worry, we are not trying to make the site more restrictive, we feel these rule modifications will be to the benefit of all Huddersfield Town fans who are members of this forum.
The first change is a modification to the yellow card system. There will now no longer be a lifetime ban for forum members who misbehave. The maximum suspension time will be 6 months. WUMS who are not Town fans will still be permanently banned. I know what you are thinking - and the answer is yes, this does mean that Nick could return if he so wishes. This is the new order of suspension:
Card Sanction 1st Yellow Warning level increased to 50% 2nd Yellow Warning level increased to 100% – 1 week suspension 4th Yellow 1 month suspension 5th Yellow 3 month suspension 6th yellow 6 month suspension Each additional yellow 6 month suspension Any Red 1 month suspension
The second rule change is regarding the use of the C word. You will note there is an auto substitution rule for it that we have been trialing, and that is going to become permanent. Do not become creative in trying to circumnavigate the substitution, simply discontinue using the word. Repeat offenders will start to accrue yellow cards.
We hope you welcome the changes. Comments will be left open, but you should note the Admins will not enter into a public debate about the changes. In accordance with the existing rules if anyone wishes to debate the change please send a DM to any of the 3 Admins.

I don't believe any language (other than racist, phobic and threatening) should be banned. I'll probably just use the foreign lettering as you have to for the likes of crēst if you don't want an emoji to come up. If anything substituting words has made it worse because now every time I see the word card I automatically assume it's the other one

I've just checked the Urban Dictionary and "card" is an expression for "an amusing, eccentric person" e.g You're such a card! There was once a King of England, Denmark and Norway called Canute, also known as **** Was he an amusing, eccentric person? e.g was **** a card?
Edit: Ah, I see what you did there and how the system works. Just to clarify my original post the letters n and u were reversed in the naughty word to give Canute his proper alternative name to be found under Wiki for example. Mmm, things could get tricky if we have a thread about historical monarchs.

So what happens if 3 yellows Nothing. A third yellow is an accumulation yellow, allowing some breathing space to amend a posting style. If there is no change and fourth yellow is issued, you get the ban. All, just as a follow-on note; Keith, Overton and I have discussed this on and off for many months. We genuinely felt that lifetime bans were too harsh as everyone can have moments of anger and post aggressively. We’ve seen a reduction in this and wanted to ‘soften’ the rules a little as a result. We have run the change by the site Mods ( Orinoco and Tinpot) who were both in agreement also. We have not put this to a vote as we are loosening the rules, not beefing them up. This doesn’t mean we won’t ban WUM’s permanently, that will still happen. It just means we want to try engage Town fans to post and do so sensibly - with passion but also with respect. Listen; we all know that a fresh Admin team of the future may have a different opinion on matters, just as we have a different approach to Kenny, Rigodon and Gag & Bone Man. This isn’t to say their approach was wrong but it worked for them at the time. For now, we want to try ensure this forum is engaging, informative and a somewhere Town fans want to come and chew the fat. Hopefully we’re doing the right things, as I’m sure you’d tell us if we weren’t!

Whilst we are changing stuff. Can you move off topic to the open site so you don’t have to log in to see the interesting threads on music/ films and bum wiping etc?
Keep the politics one hidden though. 😅

I've been on this board several years, and well known for my witty ascerbic posts..from time to time...and I did pick up a yellow..is that still there ? Logic would say if lifetime bans are ending, then lifetime yellows should end too...?

Fine by me.
Much prefer the route the current admins go down compared to the powertrippers we had previously. I think the board has been running a lot smoother since the change and I’m glad the current admin team explain their decisions.

I'd like to point out that last time the subject of 'swearing' was debated on here, any changes were put to a public vote. The forum voted for unrestricted swearing ie. anything goes. What now makes Admins think that they can decide on the forum's behalf to make this change? As far as I can tell, there's been no 'public' issue with swearing on here, so why are Admins' personal preferences now more important than those of the great unwashed?

Does writing "Steve Baker" count as a creative way to circumnavigate the rule?

If we all surround the admins waving our arms about and pretending to be headbutted/mortally wounded will that stop a yellow card? As a Premier League poster once I get into my stride, any small touch or even a slight breeze means I can easily go over and type the C word, am I exempt then??

As a user that has, quite rightly, served a short holiday from here, may I ask one thing.
Please inform the miscreant the reason for and duration of any ban. I know it is detailed in the Admin's Actions thread, but when you are on a ban you can't access that.

Seems like sensible changes to me. Why people think the use of any expletives should be fine on a forum when, I hope, you would not use them in any other public place, baffles me.
The English language gives you so many ways to get your point across why is there a need to swear?
