Apologies for being lazy, but can someone remind me why this game is being played tonight and wasn’t able to be played earlier in the week? I know it was linked to their fixture backlog due to the FA Cup, but it still feels odd that it couldn’t have been played earlier this week. Knowing the last game was to be played on Monday 8th both agreed to move from Wednesday to Thursday..........lets hope they both agreed on other requirements, like good neighbours do. everybody needs good neighbours........

Normally I can't stand a bore draw but tonight... Still rather see us on the front foot though

Hopefully these boys can emulate the 2018 team at Stamford Bridge: scrape a heroic draw, give Warnock the bumps in front of the South Stand, and then rickshaw into town for a few cigs.

In the words of our glorious leader, “Anyone else shitting themselves? No? Just me.” Come on Town, positive start and if we go behind, throw everything forward. Doesn’t matter how many we lose by, so better to gamble and really go for it. if we lose tonight and Sunday, GD will come into it ? so we may need a high-scoring loss tonight to boost our 'Goals For' in the case of GD being tied

It's out the equation. 2 defeats takes us down by 2 and then Readings must rise by 1. That's why not putting Cardiff away properly was frustrating.

Being in this position after 44 games is frustrating.

Watched Rotherham seven or eight times this season and I fully believe they are a better side than us. Fully agree if we play like we did at Swansea, we are fucked. I hope and trust Warnock and the players know that too. They must have improved a lot because in our games against them, I was convinced we’re a better team than them. At our place at Christmas they just looked totally devoid of any ideas, they didnt pose a threat to us at all and thats saying something, but they've secured their safety and had a few decent results against good opposition so have proved a capable side...when they want to be.

I nominate: REG for chain smoking outside the club, must be why he's always blowing after 60 mins Pearson for the rickshaw ride and having a pint at training the next day and Diarra for sitting on a motorbike that looks 10x the size of him

Worrying how many folk don’t understand how goal difference works! Not a new thing, has annoyed me for years, not just Town fans either. People just don't seem to understand how easily goal difference can change. Classic one is when I team is (for example) 6 points behind, and a GD of 5 or 6 worse. You'll get people saying "it's effectively 7 points with the GD", seemingly oblivious to the fact that for a team to make up 6 points there has to be a minimum GD swing of 4 in their favour as well and likely a few more.

It makes no difference mate. We could score 20 goals in both games, if we lose them both we are down.

We are on -18. If we lose 10-9 tonight we are on -19. If we lose 10-9 Monday we are on -20. Reading are on -20. If they win 10-9 Monday they are on -19.

Just a thought about Reading - didn’t want to start a new thread. As I understand it they were deducted 12 points last season for FFP on the understanding that they sold players to generate income and reduce wages. This they didn’t do so got the suspended 6 recently. As they still haven’t sold these players or reduced their wages I assume they must be still in breach of FFP now, although now with EFL permission!

As I understood it, the reason the suspended 6 points was implemented was their failure to generate X amount of funds in the transfer market - presumably this was part of the agreed way forward after the FFP breach. I've sent values of both £6M and £12M as the amount they were supposed to raise, but nothing official. I suspect the values seen are folk mixing them up with the points deducted 😗

Haven’t been too concerned about this game this week. Kind of resigned to Monday being the big game. But now it’s here I’m starting to feel the adrenalyn! Come on Town. Let’s do the job tonight.

No it would have been level . Think goals scored and head to head then . We would lose on both accounts 3 up after cardiff 2 up after sheff u Level after reading ( as they get plus 1 as well as us minus 1 )

My son heard an interview where their business plan said they had to raise £12m from transfers. They gambled on breaking it and being in mid table so a 6 point deduction would be irrelevant. You have to wonder how many extra points they've earned from players who should have been sold last summer. Got to be more than 6 surely?
