Either buy the rope walk or a purpose built building on the golf range with a drinking establishment etc GAS CLUB. Needs a petition, a group, pressure, whatever it takes. Get the Gas Club back and put it in the hands of the club and town fans. A brilliant drinking establishment at the south end of the ground. Will be interesting to see what happens to that space - all the metal structure that used to contain the old gas storage cylinder is coming down in the next couple of years...probably be a Hudds Uni site in 15 years time.

A brilliant drinking establishment at the south end of the ground. Superb location that's for sure and probably a lot cheaper than the Rope Walk. Dont know anything abut the ownership of either but I would imagine the Rope Walk freehold isnt available or is very expensive whereas maybe the gas club could be purchased and developed. Who holds the freehold on the old kiosk/ golf shop up by the driving range. Surely that's an option if therope walk is privately held.

If there was enough support to purchase the Gas Club then I think it’s possible but it needs enough to want to and care about it. If you’re reading Kev, DM me.

Arent we about to own the leasehold of the Ropewalk? The rumour being the club is effectively going to own the whole KSDL complex? In which case the Ropewalk would be an ideal location right next to the stadium for some kind of Museum. Aren't they also building a new cinema in the town centre? I wonder if the existing one will close and become the official town supporters hub.

I thought that this information might be of interest to the public at large so I'll post it here as well as in the 'pinned' HTAFC Memorabilia section (where it will get lost and missed by the vast majority). Tom "Tug" Wilson's medals, shirts, caps, cups and paraphernalia went under the hammer this morning. Here are the hammer prices for each completed auction. Lot no. 921 Silver and Enamel 1924-25 Huddersfield Infirmary & Victoria Nurses Hospital Cup £320.00
Total: £98,180.00 ("Buyer's premium" and VAT at this auction raised the hammer prices by 28.8% making the final outlay by all individuals £126,455.84) If you would like to see pictures of each item, visit my website HERE and click each link. I've got one of these (for a different year) which is currently in the trophy cabinet at the John Smith's Stadium. My understanding is that the Infirmary Cup was played between Huddersfield and Halifax and alternated between football and rugby league matches.

And here's some really, REALLY good news with regard to these medals. I have been informed by a relative that Kevin M. Nagle bought them for the club! Perhaps we might all be able to see them on display soon!

If we can’t afford a new striker now, we all know who to blame!

It certainly is indeed a magnificent gesture Overton - And Thank You Kevin for such generosity to a very important part of The HTAFC history ! 😊 Kevin is certainly buying into Town and with this gesture ultimately it’s supporters as well - Good times ahead on the pitch hopefully to match Kevin’s good times off it so far ! 👍

I note that two of the medals are for sale on eBay already. Somebody out to make a fast buck. 1924 Football League vs Ireland, originally sold for £400 (plus auction fees), now available for £895.00 (opening bid) 1925 Football League vs Scotland, originally sold for £400 (plus auction fees) and now available for £895.00 (opening bid)

Is the true value closer to £400 or the £900 they are trying to get for them?

I’d be scared the kids would bin them off at a car boot when I’ve pegged it. ☹️

I simply keep an eye on such matters and alert supporters. However, in my humble opinion, these are very much minor medals and this was reflected in their original prices. Buyers at auction generally pay sensible prices - they know what they're doing, and have limits. But ultimately they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them.

They are beautiful, and if it interested me enough, I think I'd at least make an offer on one of them, probably the Scottish one, as my wife is Scottish, well from Essex, but with the name MacArthur. ( They were one of those that emigrated, but came back in the depression, not to Scotland, but Essex). I guess, Ebay will reach a lot more people than an auction, even if mentioned on DATM. What puts me off them, is that there's no mention of a connection to HTFC on the medal. I didn't check long enough to see if there was any paperwork with them, confirming such. I'd still say, more than doubling the price, is a bit over the top.
