BUT to convince Warnock to stay on, Kev must surely have given him exciting reasons to stay, rather than "please stay Neil, and I'll get you one or two average players for you to succeed in giving us an average mid table season." have seen this “he must have given him exciting reasons / a decent budget” but I think it’s way off the mark. Warnock has said why he’s coming back, and it’s because he cares and he wants to help keep the club on a stable footing whilst the new guys get their feet under the table. And thatll happen with him doing the best job he can do with the squad he has to work with. That’s all.

If Warnock wasn't given what he wants, or close , why would he have stayed on ? makes no sense, if he didn't think we were able to compete far better than we did last year, then it wouldn't have been worth his time. He has said a few times, that he has been in touch with Nagle, therefore you must think they have disscussed the plan for this year.

I think Warnock enjoyed the love he was shown since his return and he knew he'd miss the job once he's gone. Two-way thing.

My personal favourites have been one guy tweeting that Jake Edwards was a scumbag because Clements left the club and another guy tweeting Nagle about "transparency" because Clements had gone.

Surely in the presser tomorrow it will be asked what the reasons are for the “strict financial protocols” in year one as per his tweet.

Yeh I’m not having a pop I just think as he has brought it up the question is worth asking and be good to know why it is the case. There are probably several reasons why, just be nice to see what they are.

Surely in the presser tomorrow it will be asked what the reasons are for the “strict financial protocols” in year one as per his tweet. It may be that the sum of a) £5-10 million to cover the 2023/24 operating loss; b) the £6m (?) he has agreed to reimburse DH for last season; and c) whatever he has paid (if anything) for the shares could be the extent of the cash that he is able / willing to inject in the first 12 months. There's no possibility of it being an imminent FFP issue: I'd expect us to be sitting sitting pretty close to break even on the three year P&S calculation (likely one of the 'healthiest' in the league).

I'm not expecting any significant increase in our playing budget this season Is there any reason as to why? Probably because books still need balancing. Look at the way Newcastles owners have gone about things up there (and I’m not trying to compare Kevin’s wealth to theirs). They didn’t immediately go out splashing the cash, just good, solid signings. This isn’t and never was a kind of fantasy football project.
