But they're at the other end of their careers. JR has experience to help him out, they haven't He’s got the knack of scoring a shitload of goals to help him out, they haven’t and probably never will. Not many have. He's the only one we've had in the last 30 years so it's a bit of an unfair comparison.

For example, by the time Rhodes was Phillips’ age he’d scored over 100 goals.

Blackpool are doing what no club since Blackburn have done and started him consistently and he is thriving even at his age.
Championship is another level but if he starts 46 games he gets 15 goals in my opinion.

I think we should be asking Jordan who is an honest lad and a good pro whether that extra split second he gets in Division 1 is making the difference. Only he will know whether with a ‘Novak’ alongside him he still could do the business in the Championship. The problem is that on tonight’s performance Hudlin is no Novak! The other thing Jordan wants is to be enjoying his football at 33. Nothing I have seen this season gives me any confidence that he would enjoy being back….Ipswich game aside it has been dour to watch and I guess dour to play.

Serious question - can any poster name me a worse front two at Town than Harratt and Burgzorg - as a pair.
If so, name them.

Thinking there would be one going back the 45 years I’ve been a fan, I’d have said likely but no! Even in the 10-1 season we had Duncan Shearer. A succession of prolific strikers followed going right through to Abbott and Rhodes and even after that we had Vaughn and Beckford. We didn’t really have a front 2 under Wagner as the goals came from all areas of the field of play and then we signed Grant. We do seem to have the worst performing front 2 up top for at least 45 years although I don’t blame the young lads left to shoulder the blame. We all know where the fault lies, a refusal to put a hand in the pocket back in the summer when it was glaringly obvious what our number 1 problem was.

Thanks Willo - I'd agree with you.
I didn't mean to blame these two in particular - I'm sure they're doing their best, although the more I see of Burgzorg the more I feel he doesn't give a toss for the team, for Huddersfield Town, and as long as he's enjoying himself that's all that seems to matter.
It's just that I've watched Town for decades and, whatever division we are in, we've always had one striker who looks comfortable in that division and can be relied on to get some goals. Now, we have a player on loan from abroad who persists in doing amateurish things - diving, taking on four players, not passing, not playing for his team mates - and a young unproven striker who, even on loan at a lower division, has never looked very prolific.
Take this upcoming Leeds match - there's always been someone who might give us hope, whether we're going to get hammered or not eg Duncan Shearer, Gowling,Payton, Gray, Abbott, Maskell etc etc might at least pop up with a goal to shock them. Nowadays the only shock I get is if a Town striker DOES get a goal.
As you say it's been glaringly obvious what our number 1 problem has been and all the match music, better beer, "match day experience" in the world isn't going to alter that.

Struggled in the championship, but scores goals for fun in the division below.
There's a hell of an irony about him being registered to us until the end of the season....

I was against his and Wards signings, just another two ex Town signings that we seemed to love for some reason. It turned out that we just got two old strikers way past their best.
We did get the best season of Wards career when we finished 3rd but apart from that nothing other than a lot of running around by Ward. I said at the beginning of the season that we would be lucky to get 10 games out of Ward this season before he got injured.
With our lack of signings over the past few years we have left ourselves short and the absolutely terrible summer window where we cut our squad right back and left ourselves short, it is no wonder that we are looking for someone to come in and help the team.
No point in bringing Rhodes back unless we played two up front and we would need the right kind of player for him to play with if we were going to make it work and I just can't see Ward and Rhodes cutting it together.
I don't see any point in bringing him back to the club.

Highly unlikely I would have thought, if he is I would have thought he won't be coming vack at all. Granted not that we'd need him for the FA Cup given our record.

I dont know why we arent allowed to just offer the other side a bye and save everyone the effort and expense of bothering with cup games.
