Jordan Rhodes is leaving. Alan Nixon broke the news again on twitter.

Think it's for the best free up the wage bill, got a lot of respect for Rhodes but I don't think he can ply his trade at this level consistently. Hopefully we've got a replacement lined up.

You'd think that means we have agreed a deal for a striker coming in. Cant see they'd let him leave until we have.

Good. Should never have been brought back as he hasn't been the same player for years now.

I think he showed he's still the best natural finisher in the squad but as NW suggested we didn't play in a way to benefit him

I think that we all have very fond memories for Jordan, but the game has moved on we we will not be playing with two up front. Also we don't have the right kind of player to play alongside him even if we were going to play two upfront.
I heard he is our highest earner so if this is true we should be able to afford to bring someone in who is reasonable, let's just hope it is someone a bit younger.

Mark Harris who left Cardiff is target for Warnock So are Oxford and Blackpool I’d rather keep Rhodes. The balanced Cardiff consensus is that he works his socks off but lacks quality: L1/L2 his standard. Just a few quotes: “Spoke to Wrexham and Newport fans both did not want him back after his loan spells there. He has improved a lot since and his work rate is very good. Striker rate worse than awful. If I was him I would chose League 2 more his level.” “Mark worked his socks off whenever he was on the pitch so he's defo got my respect! The way we've played over the last few seasons, it was hardly gonna bring the best out of him either. Just not quite good enough yet. Maybe with a couple of full seasons under his belt in L1 or L2, he could make that step back up again. Until then, thankyou and good luck at your next club Mark Harris!!!” “I think this is the right decision for all involved. I don't think he should have been offered a new contract in the first place and it appears that Erol Bulut also doesn't think he was good enough. I wish Mark Harris well for the future but he's not a Championship standard player. He'll probably move to a League One or League Two club now and that would be more his standard.”

He may not be as sharp as he once was. But he’s still the best finisher at the club. He earned the opportunity and he’s a superb pro: he’s put some of the younger lads to shame with his fitness in pre-season.
Good luck to him. Great guy and a fabulous player in his town at the club.

Said as soon as Ward was offered a new deal it was essential to move Rhodes on, can't have another season with both here, needed to free up a forward position for a new player to come in, hopefully someone better than either of them.

Good. Should never have been brought back as he hasn't been the same player for years now. Still popped up with some pretty crucial goals for us including the play-off semi. Always enjoyed watching him play. Think he deserves a bit more respect than you give him in your post.

Good. Should never have been brought back as he hasn't been the same player for years now. Moron . Key part in getting us to the playoff final with crucial goals v Boro and Luton whilst being the only striker available. Scored some vital goals this season too like the winners v Cardiff , Rotherham and Preston. Jordan is a club legend and deserves a bit more respect for it.

Its a myth that Rhodes can't play the lone striker role as he proved when he started games last season.

Seems a good guy too. Hopefully we can sort out a move that is good for him and gives us some financial benefit.

As soon as it was announced that Ward had signed a new contract (and TBH even before that) it was always likely that Rhodes would be leaving. That makes sense.
Replacing with Mark Harris would be a head scratcher though. A striker that has averaged less than 1 in 10, never managed more than 4 goals in a season, doesn't appear to have any outstanding qualities beyond work rate and is widely regarded as being Lg2 level by Cardiff fans. A poor man's Martyn Waghorn?

Rhodes is much better at finding space and that's easier the fewer defenders that are trying to mark you.

Same can't be said the other way around imo. This isn't the Rhodes of ten years ago.

I think he showed he's still the best natural finisher in the squad but as NW suggested we didn't play in a way to benefit him Agree completely. In the away game at Middlesbrough, when we won 2-0, he scored a typical Rhodes goal for the second, and actually laid on the first goal with his head, for Sarr to head in. A game where I saw the Jordan of old, but I'll agree, they're rare these days, and his style doesn't suit a lot of modern teams styles. I wish the lad all the best, served Town very well over the years, and I'll remember that game at Boro for a long while. I'd never actually seen us win there, but did see the 1-1 draw, 29th March I believe, that confirmed promotion in 1970. I was 17, went on an organised coach, and it was like a trip to hell, what with all the gas being burnt off, the old pennies chucked at us etc etc. Hoy scored for us, Hickton for them from the penalty spot, and I've looked none of that up. So take it easy if I'm wrong on anything. PS. I have looked the date up in the past, but it's stuck since then. ( NOT very well, because having checked, it was the 31st March. Next match was Blackburn away, where Town confirmed the title with another win, 3-1 I think, but could have been 2-1. I wasn't there, just glad we'd made it.)

So when a player wants to leave us to multiply his wages he stops being a legend ?
I wonder if Andy Booth was dead against joining Wednesday?
