I guess when he played for promotion winning Norwich and they scored something like 96 goals they didn’t get it in the box very much. When he got 6 from his 36 appearances ? Good luck to him at Blackpool. Shame he didn't quite get to 3 figures for us. Something like that. Good luck to him but for me it was a terrible decision to bring him back. Boro away he was superb. Pity he couldn’t do that on a more regular basis.

He's always had the fundamental weakness that his all-round game just wasn't good enough to play as a lone striker. If he did, it immediately restricted his goal threat. Played as an out-and-out goalscorer - width of the penalty box, always on the shoulder, moving to get half a yard on the defender - there are still very few better. But managers want the all-round game and not just the finishing touch - which is why managers don't tend to rate him. Playing him puts more pressure on others, and although his all-round game is better than when he left in 2012, it's been at the cost of his utterly devastating goalscoring record. He just doesn't have the mobility to get into the box when he's held the ball up to finish the move, which more rounded strikers can do. His greatest attribute is as a finisher. If a manager can get him into the box, he'll score. It's as simple as that. It always has been. But there's always been a trade-off. We were a top League One side who could accommodate him and feed him time after time. Blackburn were able to get the ball to him, but they never excelled (although it's worth noting that as soon as they sold him, they went down - a goalscorer is a godsend in a poor side). Middlesbrough were looking for the finishing touches, but they never scored many anyway, and that's when it was clear that the trade-off was either goals or hold-up play, never both. In a good League One side, that trade-off should be minimal. Play to his strengths and Blackpool will get goals out of him. A couple of goals quickly, and he'll get 20+, because that's what he does in a side set up to his benefit. We weren't going to do that and although the sentimental side of me is disappointed to see him depart before he could complete his 100 goals for us, I do think it's the correct decision to free up wages if we're bringing in a more mobile, complete striker who combines goal threat with all-round play. I guess when he played for promotion winning Norwich and they scored something like 96 goals they didn’t get it in the box very much. Could you explain your point a bit more? I'm not sure I understand the point you're making; if anything, it's agreeing with my point on mobility and his ability to get up with play after linking play a bit deeper! Can't score if you're not there!

Thanks for the memories Jordan, so pleased he leaves with that play off semi goal fresh in the memory, the perfect poachers goal and one that will live long in the memory. I’ll be checking Blackpools results with interested this season, hope he bags a few. Nice for him that he’s found a northern club too as I assume he has a young family.

Overall a great player for us, in his prime one of the best finishers we've had in my town watching lifetime at least.

A gentleman on and off the park.
A true footballer of that there is no doubt.
With the right service and him ensconced in the 6 yard box, he will score for Blackpool
Thank you Jordan …… quality player. (Some cold wet nights in a season on the West coast!)

Forever a terrier until he said he never wanted to play for us again? Came back to us for a wage. We gave him his chance too. Nice bloke when I’ve met him but still can’t get rid of that bad taste back in 2012. Couldn’t wait to leave us when Blackburn came sniffing (just a job get that) compare that to stewey (not family guy 🤣) who wanted to do anything but leave. Stewart will forever trump Rhodes in a town shirt for me. Marcus had everything. Few players get the honour of being true terriers Hogg boothy bullock Stewart Schindler etc. I know boothy left for the massive but it’s weird how some throw away comments player attitudes etc change your opinions.

Good luck to him.
We gave him too long a contract but you can’t say he hasn’t done a job in his second spell here. The goals at boro and against Luton spring to mind.
He’ll always go down as the best finisher I have seen play for town. In that first spell you know it was a goal when the ball arrived at him. Some special memories especially the 4-4 at Wednesday.

Can’t remember which League 1 game it was but… Walking down to the ground the away supporters were in full voice when a single Town fan shouted across “ Have you met Jordan Rhodes?”
A few hours later, after a Rhodes hat trick they were very quiet.
In his first spell with us he was an amazing finisher - most natural I’ve seen play for us. As others have eloquently mentioned ,one of the last of a dying breed of out and out goal scorers, if he’d been around 20 years ago he’d have 50 International Caps ( for Westie’s lot ) Hope he scores for fun at Blackpool.

Top top lad and a great player for us. Wish him all the best.
Would love to know what the holier than thou brigade would do if a competitor to their employer offered them 4 times their salary.

Say thank you to my previous employer for giving me this opportunity take it, walk to my new employer and kick on. Not disrespect the club and it’s fans and down tools like a two year old.

The thing about that Norwich side is they had Teemu Pukki (more mobile, pest), who banged in 30 and played three times as much as Rhodes. Rhodes was mostly confined to appearances off the bench. Still scored on average every game and a half when we count minutes (9 in 1200ish), but had restricted game time - probably because he couldn't press, couldn't make a real nuisance of himself, and didn't fit into the system with his limitations. Think we're not far off being in total agreement, to be honest!

Big lost would there be recalled option ? This move will surely end his contact and time with the club. Club legend he is.

Did you start watching Town in 2017?. Nope 1999. He has barely played under Warnock, so how is he a loss?

He's a wum, just ignore him Oh boo hoo, someone has a different opinion to you. At least I can back mine up. How is a player that's barely played under the current manager going to be a loss to our side? I'll await your informed response.

And I go back to Gowling Jordan Rhodes in his first spell is the best forward I've ever seen at Town, no doubt. But his second spell has been largely forgettable. Bet you everyone ignores my first point though and just focuses on the second point. Oh well.

A great lad and servant to the club
Rhodes and Stewart are my 2 favourite strikers post 2000...hard to separate them
Pre 2000 that would be steve kindon and Ian Robins...I'd love to have a time machine and go back to that 79/80 season..pure magic

Did you start watching Town in 2017?. Explain how he is a loss? You can't go back to Rhodes 1st spell because that has been and gone. His 2nd spell has been nothing but average. For his wage, it has been disappointing. A loss would be someone who is playing week in, week out and contributing either defensively, or chipping in with assists and goals. I wish JR all the best, can't fault his effort. But I think a lot of people are overrating his 2nd spell.

How about people can just say what they want without having their support of the club questioned? Then again, you were the only person on the board vehemently backing Mark Fotheringham at the end, so I shouldn't be surprised.
