Is that a dig at women's football crowbarred into a totally unrelated thread? Well done, congratulations if so. If not ... apologies for the assumption, it's just becoming a natural assumption on this board at times I read it as welcome back to football that "mean something" - i.e. playing for points rather than pre-season warm up games. Funny how the same sentence can be interpreted different ways Misread txt messages can spark of argument's, is so easy to do!!.

Bird's football is absolute gash☹️ Well as long as The Owls’ Football is gash then that’ll do for me (and most Town fans as well I’d guess) ! 😊 We could also do worse in Season 2023/24 than have The Robins, The Bluebirds, The Canaries, The Swans - And last but not least - Most definitely The Peacocks being gash... 😬 For those birds that are more powerful and flying higher... I think The Eagles and The Seagulls will not be gash and certainly hold their own - And The Magpies will be anything but gash next season !

WE performed brilliantly towards the end of last season but I am expecting a tough match on Saturday as well as a tough season in general.
There is time to bring in more players but the squad looks a little thin at the moment. Warnock worked wonders last season and I hope we can continue with the form we showed in our final few games , I just have my doubts , a 3-1 win to Plymouth.

If not ... apologies for the assumption, it's just becoming a natural assumption on this board at times Yes, I suppose it is if you want to look at it like that (I don't). Womens football is OK, entertaining even, friendlies are OK, if boring sometimes, like testimonials, and I don't mind a trip to the local rec to watch a couple of local sides playing ..... but you just can't beat the blood and thunder of a good old championship season. Yeah, as soon as I wrote the second line I realised you might have been on about friendlies, so added the final line to cover my bases

As you can imagine with this game based on my username, both me and the kids are a bit conflicted - grew up an Argyle fan and have been adopted by Town since me and my boy bought season tickets at the start of the promotion season. Will be in the USA for this one which is annoying!
I obviously saw a lot of Argyle last season. We were resilient last season. The number of times we went one down and came back to win was remarkable. Home Park will be bouncing on Saturday, it has been a long and painful journey since the administration that nearly saw us go out of the league. Argyle are good on the ball and can attack quickly when allowed to. We struggle when teams sit back and also sometimes struggle against the more physical sides. Mumba and Whittaker showed every sign of being able to step up to this level last season and I think they are good signings, well received by the fans. My view is that if Town sit back too much and allow Argyle to get their tales up then Argyle win. If Town get in their faces from the off and play with aggression and a bit of composure then Town win.

Greetings Terriers I hope this is Ok to post here I write a game by game preview/review called One Game at a Time on Pasoti, the Argyle fan forum It is an unashamedly green tinted view of the world with a touch of history and humour ( I hope) Last season I did the entire season and we went up as Champions so obviously I am committed to doing it again...just in case.... Pasoti is a welcoming site for opposition fans who are positive ( and I am happy to correct factual inaccuracies)....all opinions are valid....but just don't be a plonker...we have enough of our own. Next games preview will carry a review of the Saturday action as well and obviously later in the season I'll be back for the away game ( as we call it)... Safe journey to all travelling and whilst I can't wish you well for Saturday, after that it will be fine for you to go on a run. pasoti.co.uk/threads/one-game-at-a-time-youre-only-here-for-the-pasties-huddersfield-town-h.124374/

Just one big inaccuracy - Huddersfield is definitely not very much a rugby league town! The rugby teams average crowd of ~4,000 compared with the football clubs 15-20,000 says it all 😁

Thanks. I was referring to the historical side...eg the fact RL was set up in Huddersfield. I'll subtly amend so it looks like I knew what I was talking about

pafcprogs, I'm thinking of using the Milehouse park and ride to spend time in the town before coming back for the game. How quickly does Milehouse fill up on a Saturday?

Anyone else struggling to find a realistic 21 man playing squad for this game? I bet we have two keepers on the bench to pad the team out.
Feel for NW that we're starting the season without improving the first team and struggling to put a matchday squad together.
A month to go until the transfer window closes, I'll be very disappointed if we can’t bring in 2/3 first team players who can improve the team.

Bench will be Maxwell, Hudlin, Harratt, Diarra, Nakayama if fit, whoever out of Headley and Jackson doesn't start, and after that it's a head scratcher. Probably High, Austerfield, and Spencer? I can't think of anyone else who's played for us that's fit.

Nicholls Pearson Helik Ruffels Sorba Reg Rudoni Headley Diarra Koroma Ward Maxwell Edwards Yuta Harratt Hudlin Jackson Jones Austerfield Ayina Would be this for me,if kasumu is fit he could change the first 11 a fair bit as could see us potentially going back 4 if he’s back in midfield.we have 14/15 decent players plus Tom lees to come back.I still think just 2/3 solid additions could make a fair amount of difference.

NW will know who is going to play, nothing wrong in shoving a couple of the young lads on the bench for the matchday experience. Rhodes and Yuta will also probably be on the bench. So maybe take the squad from the Heerenveen game and add then 2 in too.
