Someone ask him if he looks at the toilet paper when hes wiped his bottom, scruncher or folder, stander or sitter, these are the the things we should be asking not silly things like spending plans and stuff.

Yeah, googled it. Bit harsh on the elderly etc, but the way of the world, I guess. I always pay with my phone, myself, but it definitely rubs me the wrong way seeing signs where businesses refuse cash. Every now and again I get a bloke to clean my fish tank, he only takes cash as he says over the course of a month he would pay loads in charges for taking card payments 🤔🤔 Interesting euphemism… ‘clean my fish tank’… 😉 I’m sure there’s a lead into something with this one…

Could ask since brexit, when have we not focused more on south American market as would now be easier to sign players from there

I gave my head a wobble and decided to still take a small element of my weekly earnings in cash, beer tokens for the weekend and weekly petrol paid for, pay enough tax on those two things as it is Thanks for the suggestion though

King’s Head has gone cash only. I don’t have any questions for KN. Has it ? Bugger, I used to like going in there. I haven't used cash since covid began. Just to remind you there’s twelve pennies to the shilling, twenty shillings to the pound.

This goes to the card/service provider/bank not to the government as taxes. This is on top of any tax on anything else. Perhaps you'd like to pay an extra 3% of your income to the bank.

If your income is in cash you can choose to try avoid all deductions, be it banking provider costs, or taxes. But if you provide an easier option for customers to pay, you can increase your income significantly.

I like the idea of selling some Sacremento gear in the shop, it would be novel and people walk round advertising all sorts on their T shirts . It's also a cool capital in sunny California. What's not to like? I went there years ago, and it has an old town by the river with boardwalks and a paddle steamer, then you can get to Lake Tahoe easily from there for skiing, trekking hunting and a shooting and luxury camping. Barcelona is cool as well but we aren't selling their shirts. I found it *incredible* that Espanyol sold Barcelona shirts in their shop when I went to the old Olympic stadium. Akin to us selling Leeds crap.

Some people need to give their head a wobble and pay up. Not EVERYONE dealing in cash avoids tax. It is easy to do and obviously there'll be people swinging the lead, but cash doesn't always mean dodgy. I pay loads in taxes every month (as I'm sure the majority on here do) but that doesn't mean those dealing in cash DON'T. And even cash payments can be traced, eg taxis now use GPS and computer systems to track their passengers (my old man was one for about 6 months between "proper" jobs) so it's pretty hard to get round accounting. Do you never give tips? To waiters/waitresses? Hotel maids?

Happens loads but doesn’t bother me. And not hard to hide as if you don’t put it in the bank it won’t be traced. Think of your handymen. I realise I have continued to make this thread off topic ..

Be interested to ask if there's any chance of a sprinkling of Sac Republic merch in the town shop? A couple of rails will do, doesn't need much of the store. With a reciprocal stance in the US too selling town stuff. Anything to boost our soccerball fanbase is a plus I reckon. Hopefully not. We're not a sister club, we're two completely different entities. Then why not start by making them a sister club, end of the day we have the same owner. The profits go into the same back pocket. If the clubs can help each other will that not benefit Town in the long run? It's widely discussed that we're under some form of budget restrictions, creating a US fanbase (albeit a very small one to begin with) is a small first step in improving revenues for relatively little effort.

Back on Topic...
Hearing that Nagle wants us to be sustainable is really interesting to me. I applaud the sentiment and think its how clubs be run, but in this day and age most clubs run at a loss.
Out of interest I had a quick look at the past seasons that accounts are available for to see what the promoted teams from The Championship filed in terms of Turnover, Wages and Profit/Loss
2021/22 1st - Fulham - Turnover: £71m - Wages: £79m - Profit/Loss: -£58m 2nd - B'Muff - Turnover: £53m - Wages: £54m - Profit/Loss: -£55m POs - Forest - Turnover: £29m - Wages: £51m - Profit/Loss: -£45m 3rd - Town - Turnover: £30m - Wages: £18m - Profit/Loss: -£3.6m
2020/21 1st - Norwich - Turnover: £47m - Wages: £54m - Profit/Loss: £15m - NOTE: Norwich sold £44m worth of players in the period 2nd - Watford - Turnover: £57m - Wages: £60m - Profit/Loss: -£21m - NOTE: Watford sold £58m worth of players in the period POs - Brentford - Turnover: £15m - Wages: £36m - Profit/Loss: -£2m - NOTE: Brentford sold £44m worth of players in the period 20th - Town - Turnover: £44m - Wages: £21m - Profit/Loss: £2.8m - NOTE: Town sold £10m worth of players in the period
Looking at Town specifically, and using the most recent 2021/22 accounts as a guide, the turnover without parachute payments will be around £12m (we had £21m from TV & League in 2021/22) which means to be sustainable you are looking at a wage bill or around £8m given other running costs will eat into the turnover.
Again, using the above as a guide, that will mean a monumental effort for whoever is manager to build a squad good enough in quality to challenge at the top unless we really increase the turnover to allow more to be spent in transfer fees and wages. I'd really like to know how Nagle plans to increase the turnover to an amount that will leave us sustainable and also competitive.

Sell our stuff in their shop then, but we're the bigger entity and always will be. You don't see New York City stuff in the Man City shop but I wouldn't be surprised to see it the other way round.

I can't make it - live away - but I'd ask about increasing revenue.
What form does that take? What are the "quick wins" (better merchandise?), what are the medium-term aims (take over the stadium, profit from catering etc?) and what are the longer-term strategies (the Academy?).
Related to that, what are the commercial opportunities with the US connection, and how might they be harnessed?
Obviously ask the important questions first - I do like a nice Steak Canadian, after all.

I'd really like to know how Nagle plans to increase the turnover to an amount that will leave us sustainable and also competitive. Interesting question. I feel it's extremely unlikely we'll challenge with a wage bill of less than £20 mil. Madness but that's the way it is in the championship. So we could need at least an additional £12m income to support that. Brentford's model was sustained by investing in players they knew/thought they could make a profit on. That involved a willingness to spend £1m there, £3m here, £5m there on upcoming players to then sell these players for £30m. Town don't seem prepared to invest that sort of money to suck up the best of lower league talent so again suggests we're unlikely to make big bucks through player trading either. Nor do we seek prepared to offer big wages to talented players out of contract. I realise there will be some players we can suck up for peanuts and sell for big money but would suggest they are the exception rather than the rule. Ps more than happy to pay more for season tickets. £400 a season to support a team pushing for the premier league seems fair to me.

Turnover this season will be £16.5 - 17 million - you need to add back in the solidarity payment. Championship clubs will get an extra £2m from next year with the new TV deal. Still an absolutely key question though. I'd go even more route one and ask what motivated him to take on a £17m turnover business on the other side of the world that costs £30m to run...
