The other thing on Coady was he played midfield at Town
At Wolves they moved him to centre back and he really stood out. Also helped that over the past ten years a lot more emphasis has been placed on playing it out from the back so players like Coady who are perfect for that are a lot more valuable than say Pearson who is the same age but a classic stopper with limited passing ability
If Coady and Pearson had played 20 years earlier it would be interesting what careers they would have had. Coady obviously a better player still but I think in early time Pearson may have had a season or two in the top flight

Hoyle deciding he wouldn't play because we'd signed Whitehead and Huws was something said at a Q&A as justification for selling. Whether Powell ever said that is another matter. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. At this distance, it doesn't. Main thing is we got five times what we paid for him a year down the line! Plus a sell on?

Surely the £10m will be a starting point for negotiations. Many on here think he's crap but the professionals in the club seem to think he could go to the top. I'm inclined to agree it's a possibility.
So I guess we're saying he's staying unless it's a very large fee. It's a good stance imo and a good season in L1 with a quality manager and a few more grown ups in the squad might do him the world of good.

We the fans note all too often that when it comes to the final act he often fuffs his lines. never seen a proffessional make so many miss kicks. But I bet in training he smacks those in without thinking. He has talent, he just needs his mental side developing. Not akin to pro golfers who just cannot get it done on Sunday - but after mental coaching they crack that nut.

Think it was one of Powell first games? Wells and butterfield scored I think. Won two one. Coady looked head and shoulders above anyone on the field that day and thought we’d signed a beast. Always had it in my head we played him at centre half? Funny what time does to your memory.

Garbage red against Murray Wallace, disgrace of a non penalty given against Vaughan. Coady looked solid there then never played there again for us.

To be fair to jack he never really got the chance to ease his way into our side, he was literally thrown in and gave his best efforts (other than last game of the season)
In another town squad he would of probably shone but it wasn't to be, good luck to him and we move on 🙌

£5m ... that's incredible money. There's a player there for sure, and some games it seemed like everything went through him, and others where the game passed him by totally. Great business.

Hes only just turned 23, had 2 full Championship seasons so a lot of games under his belt. Often chopping and changing position in a poor team.
While £5m is really good money and a lot will be happy he has been sold, he was a decent player and I think he will have a good career in the upper ends of the Championship.

Ah no very disappointed but not surprising - Hope we’ve got a big sell on in there
Good luck to him - One of the few players I’ve enjoyed watching the last few seasons I never saw him give anything but 100% and often shifted all over the place to cover the garbage around him. Only position he didn’t play in midfield / attack was 9
Will go onto have an excellent career
Let’s see how he does in a good team at a proper football club who will get the best out of him
£5m *could* turn out to be an absolutely steal for them
Anyhow - we’ve now gone from a lot to do to a hell of a lot to do in the attacking part of the team

Good player, good engine and for his age dealt maturely with the situation he found himself in over the last two seasons.
Not a surprise he has gone and looks like a good fee has been agreed.
Moving on, Town have to invest this. We need a new midfield. Talk of a new incentive being there for others returning doesn't bode well. The others have consistently shown why they cannot hold down a place. The new season is not the time to start on second, third, fourth chances. The midfield has been abysmal for two years and right now is weakened further.
Money needs spending to replace Rudoni plus three more in that part of the pitch.

Good luck to him. Has all the qualities to be a fantastic player, but has barely ever put them all together in the same game. He was one of the better players in 2 crap seasons, chucked in at the deep end in challenging circumstances. Took most of a season to adjust to the level but an intelligent player with great positional sense. Worked hard but I imagine he'd had enough by the time Breitenreiter was taking all the players to task.
Would've probably had 5 more goals this season if Burgzorg wasn't so selfish with the ball, the number of times he had made the space for a tap in and not received the ball was absolutely criminal.. In a better side he'd have got into double figures easy, and that's a player who has a piss weak shot.
No doubt at all he'll do well at Coventry. If it's 5m we've had their pants down however, I hope we've also been sensible enough to add a sell on. I think his level will eventually be top end Championship/lower end Premier League.

It's definitely the best thing for him to get out of here and kick on with his career after what happened at Ipswich. I think Coventry will get the best out of him.
All the best to him, despite what was said by some I always saw him giving his all, even if the end product wasn't always there.

I'm pleased this hasn't rumbled on and become a saga. We'll have got good money and be able to reinvest it in good time (although I also think there was money for transfer fees anyway - correct me if I'm wrong, but this money can be accounted for wages). And we're only in mid-June. If players leave, they need to leave early and not have ongoing sagas that could disrupt preparations.
I wish the lad all the best. If only he could finish...
