Didn't Wagner take us to Wembley in 2016/17 (for the play off final) and 2017/18 (Spurs away)?

I canât see there being much about us given his longevity in the game and the number of clubs heâs managed but it should be an interesting night. Going with a big Derby County fan. If heâs happy to take questions, I will ask the reason from his point of view why he left last season. He tends to be openly candid so Iâd like to think Iâll get a straight(ish) answer.

If so he might have had a word with Nagle when he left and said something along the lines of.." Bung me an extra 50k or so and I'll make sure to be either polite and positive and say that I left on good terms or give no comment at all if you prefer".

Spoke to Neil before the show, says he'll be covering his spell at Town tonight.

Iâve summed up the main talking points from tonightâs event.
Ronnie Jepson also appeared with Warnock this evening and he spoke about how Warnock had rung up and told him they were coming back to Town.
âThe gaffer rung me when he was in New York and he said we were going back to Town. Iâve been to loads of places with the gaffer but going back to Huddersfield, where weâd had so many great memories, I was so excited, it was unbelievable. My wife was asking me what I was smiling for and I told her I was going back to Town.
âNeil sent me to go and watch them at Stoke, and after 30 minutes I was thinking âwowâ! Iâd seen Huddersfield at Blackpool a few weeks before where theyâd drawn against 10 men . I was thinking that it wasnât the Huddersfield that we know, so after the Stoke game I rang the gaffer and said, âare you sure about this?â What Iâd seen was unbelievable. Town could have been 5 or 6 down. But the gaffer said we were going for it. I was over the moon at being backâ.
When asked what state the club was in when he arrived, Warnock said: âThe club was alright. Whenever Iâve gone somewhere and theyâre not doing well, Iâve always started with people that others might not think are important, such as the kitman, the groundsman, the office staff. I always try and make people happy, and try and get them working together. Itâs amazing what can happen when everyone is working together. I thought that was the least I could do.
âI said to Ron that we were going to have to work quickly and work out who we can trust and who we canât trust, we needed to get in the trenches. And we did that sharpish, reallyâ.
Jepson then continued: âThe gaffer will find out whoâs with us and who isnât, heâll look in their eyes and the likes of Hoggy and Wardy were proper warriors, we got them on board. And what the gaffer does is have his one-to-ones and he finds out whoâs on board and who isnât. And then once weâre on that training ground, his expectations are high but we have fun with it and it just went from thereâ.
Warnock singled out Michal Helik and Jack Rudoni and said they could both go far, Rudoni is âa super lad who could do whatever he wants in football if he carries onâ. He felt that he had a good group, they were just misdirected and lacked passion. Felt we were a nice team but it wasnât his kind of team.
âI told them there were two ways of going, you either get on board and die for me and you win tackles and headers you wouldnât have won two weeks ago because if Iâd listened to Ronnie, I wouldnât fucking be here! So I told them we were going to have to prove Ronnie wrong. And thatâs how we startedâ.
Jepson thought the biggest thing going for them here was that they already had a big affinity to Town. Warnock then joked, âI told Dean after the Stoke game that Iâm not a bad manager but Iâm not a fucking miracle worker!â
He added that the fans were unbelievable and Jepson said, âbecause they knew what we were about, it wasnât about money and weâre not bullshitters. It wasnât about us, it was about the Brookys, the office girls. It was about the football club and we were so desperate to keep the club upâ. Warnock said, âI wanted to put smiles back on facesâ.
Also spoke about Kian Harratt scoring at Watford; âIt was a super goal and heâs a super lad. Heâs had his problems but heâs a great lad. Heâll have a future [in the game], but Iâm sure theyâll look after him as much as I would have looked after himâ.
After watching a clip of his guard of honour against Sheffield United, he said that game was one of the best moments of his career and started welling up when he was talking about it. He praised the fans for sticking with them all the way through.
Talking about this season, Warnock said; âIt was a shame whatâs happened. I got the bullet. I told them that I would stay until January at least and get them some points on the board and then if they wanted to bring a new manager in then brilliant. Then the next minute, Kevin goes on Twitter after weâd lost 4-0 to Norwich. And to be fair, Lee Nicholls threw a couple in that day! Within two minutes, Kevin was tweeting that it was a disgrace and disappointing and so on. So in the next press conference, I mentioned that I was quite disappointed as well that the two strikers I wanted to sign had both scored that weekend and the midfielder I wanted got Man of the Match. And he never spoke to me after thatâ.
And after that, Jepson said, âAnd that was the truth as well. No bullshitâ to which Warnock responded, âI know it was the truth!â
Warnock then elaborated a bit and said, âIt was hard to get people signed but we moved on. I know this sounds daft, but we thought we were going to get near the play-offs, didnât we?â to which Jepson said, âPlay-offs all day long, but I was so happy to stay at the club for another 12 months. Itâs my club, I love it, and I was so happy to stay. I know the gaffer was too and the type of man that he is, if the CEO Jake Edwards had come to him and January and said theyâd found a manager. The gaffer would have incorporated him and helped him, it wouldnât have been a problem. But to finish after seven games, I canât believe itâ.
âMy father always said donât cut your nose off to spite your faceâ said Warnock. âEven if the chairman hated me, you keep someone who can do the job until you wanna get rid of him, not get rid of him because he said something. It never made sense to meâ.
âI wasnât sure it was the chairmanâ said Jepson. âI think he was influenced by other peopleâ, to which someone shouted âMARK CARTWRIGHT!â. Jepson simply said, âno commentâ.
Warnock then elaborated further and said, âJake Edwards came to see me and he told me that Kevin wanted to go in a different direction and we think the time is right now. And I said, âI thought we were thinking more around Christmas?â but Jake said, âNo, Kevin is going to bring a manager in that plays attacking footballâ. I told him that I thought he was making a mistake, but it was his club and I wished him all the best and thatâs how I left. Then the next day, Mark Cartwright moved into my office!â
Jepson then continued, âI thought the decision making at the club was surreal because of how much we cared for the football club. Sometimes you wanna earn money, but sometimes you go to a football club and you have an affinity to a football club, and to leave that club. The decision making was just bizarre. They gave us a 12 month contract, we kept them up, and I really donât know how we did it, but we did, but then we were willing to take the club to the next level. It wasnât as if we were wanting a two or three year deal, and then to finish us after seven games and still give us 12 months money. It was bizarreâ.
âIt didnât make football sense, did it?â said Warnock. âBut owners have to make decisions and stand by them, itâs their prerogativeâ. Jepson spoke about how he had a chat with Jake Edwards before the Stoke game in the tunnel and said, âJake, youâll regret this decision like you wouldnât believe. And he was a bit, âwell you knowâ and I said, seriously Jake, youâll regret this. And those were my last words at Huddersfield Townâ.
Warnock said that it didnât make sense to him, but was complimentary to Darren Moore and said he was a nice lad. However, he had no such words for Andre Breitenreter.
âThen they brought this buffoon in. You must have heard about why they went down? [the host then quoted AB and mentioned how heâd said about the team being unfit, going to the pub, playing golf and so on]. Iâve never commented, but when we played Leicester, we should have got something, but the keeper threw one in that day as well! But Jamie Vardy came off and told me we were the hardest team heâd played against in years. The stats guy told me that the players had run more in that game than theyâd run in any games in the last three years. So thatâs how unfit they were.
âSo this buffoon starts talking about them being unfit, going to the pub and playing golf, in a way, for the last 10 or 12 games he was in charge, besides throwing everyone under the bus, the thing he missed out on, he should have taken them more to the fucking pub and played golf!â
Jepson actually said he felt a bit sorry for Breitenreiter as his results were poor and heâd lost the dressing room. He specifically mentioned him taking Rudoni off at Ipswich. Warnock said he would have bollocked him for the mistake and then told him to go and score one at the other end, and actually rang him up during the game and left him a message saying that. And said, âthatâs the difference between me and the buffoonâ.
He then added, âthe lads kept ringing us. They said towards the end of the season, they didnât do any set-pieces in training and then he comes out with all this about pubs and golf. The guy hasnât a clue. Itâs a good job heâs gone as heâd be getting them relegated even further, because heâd lost the dressing roomâ.
He then had a final word about it and said, âitâs alright calling me a dinosaur but different people have different ways. We went to Cornwall for pre-season and went to the pub after a dayâs training, we had three non-league games, and you get some saying that we only played non-league teams but what they donât know is that we trained morning and afternoon and then played a game in the evening. The game was the third training session, and if you ask any manager what teams they donât want to play and my team will be in the top two, so you do get affected when people say thatâ.

An extra tidbit from tonight came from Ronnie Jepson, who I collared in the bar before the show.
He was offered the Town job in 2007 by Ken Davy and Jepson jumped at the chance. However, he was Gillingham boss at the time at their owner Paul Scally threatened to sue, so the job fell through.
I mentioned about his ill-fated spell as Stan Ternent's assistant in 2008 and he admitted it was a mistake to come back, but he was so desperate to come back to Town as he loves the club. But he admitted it didn't go well and he shouldn't have come back.

I imagine the truth lies somewhere in between his version of events and ABs.
I'm pretty sure Cartwright and Edwards will have been through the squad to ask them about AB. If the players were saying the same thing to them that they have told Warnock then I can't see how they would have been so desperate to get him to stay
In all likelihood he had probably lost a handful of the dressing room and it was those who he was calling out in his press conference comments. After all, he said it was too large a group to control so it was a decent number of them.
The one thing that really winds me up about footballers is how they throw the towel in to get a manager sacked. I don't like my manager at work but I still go in and work as hard as I can. These spanners would rather go down to throw the manager under the bus than work their balls off for a bit of professional pride

Thanks for sharing mate. I remember saying FFS when I read the tweet from nagle at the time. I knew straight away it was the beginning of the end. Whilst I think his play offs target was ambitious to say the least, we would have stayed up easily under Warnock if he had stayed all season.

KNs ego did get in the way then as expected. The fact that he sacked Warnock and didnât even speak to him after pushing him out the club, yet acting like they had some weird great relationship speaks volumes really.
Heâs got a lot to prove this season, talks a great game but so far has made terrible decisions and letting Cartwright have another season in charge of football decisions seems another disaster waiting to happen.

Warnock then joked, âI told Dean after the Stoke game that Iâm not a bad manager but Iâm not a fucking miracle worker!â He added that the fans were unbelievable and Jepson said, âbecause they knew what we were about, it wasnât about money and weâre not bullshitters. No bullshitâ to which Warnock responded, âI know it was the truth!â Warnock then elaborated a bit and said, âIt was hard to get people signed but we moved on. Then the next day, Mark Cartwright moved into my office!â Jepson then continued, âI thought the decision making at the club was surreal because of how much we cared for the football club. So thatâs how unfit they were. âSo this buffoon starts talking about them being unfit, going to the pub and playing golf, in a way, for the last 10 or 12 games he was in charge, besides throwing everyone under the bus, the thing he missed out on, he should have taken them more to the fucking pub and played golf!â Jepson actually said he felt a bit sorry for Breitenreiter as his results were poor and heâd lost the dressing room. Excellent quote đđđ

I went last night and htafcokayâs summary is spot on. It was really easy to see how players would respond to Neil and Ronnie. Neil also talked about Josh Koroma and about he just needed someone to believe in him to bring the best out of him..Really illustrates how man management is so important in football and the lack of it that AB obviously had. Last night gave me a few concerns about Kevin Nagleâs ability to accept criticism and more importantly about Cartwrightâs role and influence.
