Nigel Callaghan? I seem to remember him being the pitch at Odsal in a Town shirt, but don’t remember him doing owt. Dames goes for Gallagher(first name forgotten), former Scottish international, playing , allegedly, away atNorthamptononce, if I remember correctly. Kevin Gallagher? Ex Blackburn & Newcastle, played 7 times for us, no goals. I feel like htafcokay posting info like that

I feel like htafcokay posting info like that Spoke to Gallacher in 2018, he said this: "I needed to play matches in pre season to get fit and phoned up manager Mick Wadsworth to play in the reserves until I got fitness. Being around the club at that time was different as I was basically playing for £500 per week and their was a few players on 20 times that and they were worried they were not going to get payed. Memories of playing for Mick Wadsworth was short and sweet, though I don’t think I did myself or the club any justice in any games as it seemed to bring the end of my career closer. The only standout memory from my time at Huddersfield was sitting in my car in the car park pondering my retirement from the game".

Was Lee Ashcroft the striker we signed ( from Wigan? ) with the help of a local sponsor who coughed up most of his wages? A garage of some sort?
Must have cost them a lot of money which was a total waste as he was garbage.

I'm sure I read somewhere that a fan had compared Diakhaby's playing style to a dog chasing a balloon. 😆 And we paid millions for him. 😠 my spaniel has much more energy than Diakhaby ever showed and her ball/balloon control is miles better than his and on a par with most of the current squad-she’s available on a season long loan deal if Mr Moore is interested TBF, spaniels have more energy than most people!

Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal for £72m wasn’t great business. Eden Hazard to Real Madrid for £89m. In four years, he scored seven goals, only completed 90 minutes six times and never played against Barcelona.

Chelsea sold bang on at the right time, I think Hazard was already too badly worn out when Madrid got him. Similar to when Liverpool sold Torres to Chelsea.

Ignoring all the modern day crap, and plenty of them have been, if one goes back far enough, just about as far as you can go, if you were old enough to watch Town on your own, I'd have to say Joe Harper. Remember, this was in the days when the playing staff changed by a couple of players a season, if you were lucky, and substitutions were only one, and had only been introduced in 1958. Whether he was crap or not, he played only a couple of dozen games, hated his time at Town by his own admission in reports, and maybe other reasons why his stay was short. He was supposedly a very talented player, but just didn't fit in with the Town of those far off days, so whatever he cost, it was a complete waste of money sadly.

I remember Joe Harper slagging us off in an Aberdeen newspaper around 2011-ish. Said he hated it in Huddersfield and all the rest of it. Failed to mention that the reason why he got bombed out at Town was because he was caught going through Jimmy Lawson's pockets in the dressing room and Greavsie got rid of him.

Chelsea sold bang on at the right time, I think Hazard was already too badly worn out when Madrid got him. Similar to when Liverpool sold Torres to Chelsea. Hazard is probably one of the most naturally talented players ever, he was the best player in the Premier League for a few years despite being an awful trainer and taking no notice of conditioning, diets, and so on. Very rare for a player at that level in this era. As soon as he got the wrong side of 30 and couldn't get away with it anymore, his performance levels completely plummeted. Luckily for Chelsea that coincided perfectly with them selling him!

Those Wadsworth days really were bleak. Such a poor squad and was horrible going down to watch most games. Chris Holland, Thomas Heary, Dwayne Mattis et al... *Shudders* Effort was there, but they were all just total dog shit.

In terms of "value for money" this has got to be the worst in our entire history. Just think what we could do with that much cash right now. Greyhound chasing a balloon i remember the forest comments

That was the reason I didn’t mention but alluded to. It was shall we say a substantial rumour at the time, but I’ve never seen it as a stated fact. I do believe it though.

Emiliano Sala. Not for his ability, VFM or anything like that, but for the unpalatable shitshow after his death. This is getting silly now. The game is being played in courtrooms more than on the pitch these days. P.s. Sorry Mosher, I did a search for the Sala name and yours was the first post that came up, nothing personal
