L666ds could easily have been given 2 pens yesterday, but the ref had a pair of bollacks .....

For what it's worth, this season... HTAFC = 1 penalty Rovrum = 1 penalty Wendies = 0 penalties For balance... Leicester = 12 (yes, that's TWELVE!!!) L666s = 8 Saints = 5 Ipswich = 3 I am convinced that referees look at the bottom end clubs' players as cheats, desperate to win penalties hence all the waving away of appeals and booking players for simulation. It's almost certain that it's unconscious bias at play here. Possibly some truth in that, at the same time it helps if you spend enough time in the opposition penalty area.

I think there is an art to winning penalties which starts with requiring experienced strikers on the pitch.

I think there is an art to winning penalties which starts with requiring experienced strikers on the pitch. Or refs who have eyes and don't book you for diving for clear penalties. None of the 3 penalties given against us this season have been clearer penalties than the 6 we haven't got given.

1267. Will it change tomorrow?
Why do I doubt it

1267. Will it change tomorrow? Why do I doubt it If the ref today gives penalties like him last week , we’ve got a chance .

We will get a pen, I said pre-season, in our first 5 games. I stick by that & strongly feel today is the day.

I'm pretty sure we've had 6 pens given against us at home since we last got one. Only 2 scored.

One for the stattos: how many penalties have we given away at home since we last had one? I totted up the other day and I think I came to 6, which is still a surprisingly small number, considering we haven't had one since 5th March 2021. 81 games - conceding a penalty on average every 13.5 home games, which is still statistically low (teams average a penalty every 9-10 games). Just for context, the last time I saw a home penalty live (February 2020), I'd just moved into a house that's now being remortgaged, I wasn't married, and didn't have children. I mean, the eldest child now has a season ticket, the youngest has a vocabulary of about 50 words, and my 4th anniversary is coming up. You shouldn't be measuring how long it is since we got a home penalty by major life events.

Can you imagine how we’ll react when we do eventually get given one at home.
Thousands in disbelief, the same people then having the same thought a split second later that we’ll shank it over the bar… 😂😂😂

We seemingly have a higher bar than other teams in order to get decisions like penalties and red cards against. Thats been evident in the games so far this season. Stevenage got that penalty last week, but we didnt get a more blatent one for exactly the same thing the game before against Morecambe. We would need someone to almost get decapitated to get a penalty it seems.
The referees so far at this level have been absolutely shocking, which is saying something. All 3 have been abysmal, and im not holding out much hope for the rest of the season if this is the standard so far. Never mind getting a penalty.

Which will be even more annoying because we can't moan about the injustice anymore. The last meaningful (result defining or game changing) Town penalty I can remember at home was v PNE 2017.

To be fair, to get a penalty you need a decent referee but more importantly to actually get in the box which has been a rarity for Town the last few seasons.
We’re getting more players in the box and attacking more so our chances are hopefully better this season, but now the attention is on the god awful officials at this level actually giving them.

Regardless of our limited entries in to the box with the ball at our feet (most have been crosses from Thomas for the last 3 years) it is still an awful statistic which makes you feel like there is something more to it. I hope we've been making this clear to those in charge of refereeing.

For all we're complaining about the state of League 1 referees, last week's ref has been doing games in the Championship for at least 10 years. Not that that makes him any better. He was the one who played on and allowed Luton to score the winning goal against us in August 2019 when Hogg was down with a head injury.
