Manchester United take the lead at Wigan Athletic in the final 3rd round game...
Good atsmophere at this one with very boisterous fans there tonight -
C’mon Wigan - (And any other underdog as long as it’s not v HTAFC) !

One of theost boring draws I can remember. The only decent tie is Newport or Eastleigh at home to Utd.
My guesses for TV, along with that game
Spurs v City Fulham v Newcastle Chelsea v Villa Liverpool v Norwich or Bristol Rovers Sheff Utd v Brighton Blackburn v Wrexham
Boring as fuck. They should have Maidstone on but I just can't see them bothering now they're not playing a big side.

Good draw for Championship sides with four in the hat for round five & another 3/4 possible winners in other ties, if Lids go through they will play midweek before visit to JSS (hopefully at Bournemouth/Brighton away)......Wagner (if still employed) will be hoping Liverpool do play twice in next round unfortunately Fulham are at home to Newcastle.

0% chance of Sheff Utd v Brighton being on
I'd say the below are nailed on (rightly or wrongly, as there's not much to pick from for TV)
Spurs v Man City Newport/Eastleigh v Wigan/Man Utd Chelsea v Villa Fulham v Newcastle
Possibles are 2 of West Brom v Brentford/Wolves, Ipswich v Maidstone, Liverpool v Norwich/Bristol Rovers (the last 1 would be a very 'ITV' pick for ITV in terms of just thinking about their ratings and therefore advertising revenue)
Oh and Blackburn v Wrexham likely on S4C

Man Utd v ‘xxx’
or
‘xxx’ v Man Utd
First TV tie to be picked. How many consecutive live TV picks have they been now? Something utterly ridiculous…

Walked there and back when we played Stoke there in the FA Cup 4th Found second replay and we had a special train. Stoke got the Stretford End and we had the then uncovered other end. We lost, of course. Frank could have won us the first match at Stoke, when 3-1 up and clean through, only the keeper to beat - a fellow called Banks - he thought he was offside and tapped the ball to Gordon. I believed I'd imagined it, but several others who were there convinced me it really happened. Over 113,000 watched those 3 encounters. Over 34000 at Stoke, 40000 at Leeds Road and 39,000 at neutral Old Trafford for the second replay. I know i get slagged off for mentioning attendances on here these days, but to me this is fascinating social history. Genuine attendances too, not the fabricated bollocks we get now that will be meaningless 20 hence. Just another small pleasure they've removed from the game. We used to live on Bradford Rd, in Brighouse. I was 9 years old in March 1964. I vaguely remember watching a stream of traffic queuing from early afternoon heading for Leeds Rd. Manchester United v Sunderland - FA Cup 6th round 2nd replay, a midweek crowd of 54,952 turned up. This was by and large pre motorway days, certainly pre M62. United won 5-1.

It will definitely be now - Wigan Athletic 0 v Manchester United 2 ☹️ I’d imagine Newport and most definitely (and hopefully) Eastleigh will be pleased with The Red Devil’s prevailing !

Least you can understand why the Man U games have been on but no doubt the Tv guys are delighted they will probably in round 5 particularly after a few other PL sides are out - Arsenal and one of Spur/City and Chelsea/Villa.
Hopefully WBA play Wolves as that would be a good game .
So long as the former don’t do a Sunderland v Newcastle.

Just thought I could pop this on here. Newcastle fans going to Sunderland have to go to Newcastle to pick up their tickets and travel to Sunderland by designated bus. Cannot use public transport. Also no bags are allowed including ladies handbags. No coins. And will be kept in the ground for a minimum of 30 miins. Apart from the fact that this completely kills the myth that away fans cannot be help back I am struggling to see how it will be policies! They got their ticket when they got on the dedicated bus so you had to be on it to get a ticket. Plus everyone who bought one was registered. Total infringement on football supporters to be honest. You couldn't do this in any other walk of life.

Cracking video of Leeds Road for this game where Law gets a hat trick on his return to Huddersfield. Leeds Road looked magnificent full and under lights. It was a Monday night. Granada TV gave updates on the score. I was prompted by this match to ask to go to Town v Charlton five days later. We got to the ground to find the match postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. I should at that point have just said 'fuck it' and avoided 60 years of grief.

My equivalent of your user name/number would be 43011, but I still curse the old man (67037) for not taking me to the 49,000+ Sheffield Wednesday cup tie in 1966. After the waterlogging, I got my reward a fortnight later - a 3-0 home defeat to Rotherham, who never won again at Leeds Road and have won twice here in those 60 seasons. The spirits were clearly trying to tell me something.

I’m not suggesting it’s been embellished, just surprised about the public transport thing more than anything. What if you were a Toon supporter living in Sunderland for instance? The whole thing does feel a bit 1984 though, and whilst this is their big local derby, what’s the difference between this and other Toon away games where tempers might flare? I’m surprised we’ve not seen more about this, given it’s a high profile PL side.

City will probably receive 9000 tickets for Spurs trip......Lets hope Forest don't get through to play West Ham (if they beat Bristol City) with same 9000 seats on offer, c'mon Blackpool.

Cracking video of Leeds Road for this game where Law gets a hat trick on his return to Huddersfield. Leeds Road looked magnificent full and under lights. Give me everything that you saw on that video over today’s sanitised version of “football”. It truly isn’t the same game anymore. An enormous crowd, fans from both sides mixing together, real atmosphere, muddy pitches, no silly goals celebrations, proper attacking intent, player punch-ups. Marvellous. Nowhere better than Leeds Road.

Leeds Road looked magnificent full and under lights. Hard to believe that that pitch wasn't fit to play on 5 days later, ha ha. I did my knee playing on a heavy pitch (like many others), so it must have been bad for them to postpone back then, although later years Town pitch was like a bit of grass on top of sharp sand. Leeds Road hosted many semi finals years back & the 1st semi outside London was also held in Huddersfield at Fartown......Villa Park would be more of a neutral venue for United these days.

I have a mate, born & bred in Hull & a lifelong Hull City fan. When we had our infamous bubble match against them, he was told he'd have to go to Hull & travel on the coach to the game, meaning either a train fare or driving then having to return on the coach to drive back to Huddersfield. In the end, I think the Police backed down a little & he didn't have to do that but it's clearly still the case that people are having to do similar things.

Didn't the West Yorkshire plod impose the similar restrictions on a Town vs Hull City game a few years ago? There was hardly any history of violence but they claimed they had 'intelligence' that world war III was going to happen so the Hull fans had to travel on a bus and pick their tickets up from a motorway services(?) on the way to the match.
Edit - that pesky DeepSpace beat me to it!

I suppose you had to go to Newcastle to get on the bus no matter where you live. They're not even that close, about as far as Town to Leeds 15 miles. .
